Awesome boiler build Dean! I imagine you’re going to insulate that beast, you want the thermal storage of the water jacket to stratify, hot water at top, warm water low. If I understood correctly you have the supply coming off the bottom and return to top, I would modify that so supply is leaving wood boiler from the top and returning to bottom, as a hydronics professional my only other advice would be to keep your water jacket above 57-60C(135-140F) to prevent flue gas condensation/creosote, at 31C its too cold, gonna wreck all that hard work prematurely. I would use a Taco VT2218 or similar on the boiler side, which can accommodate for boiler protection and keep return water above that 57C. Can always add a 3 way mixing or thermostatic mixing valve to adjust infloor temp lower and keep your DHW supply at 60-80C. Cheers from Alberta.

Boiler looks well build but I feel like your going to be married to it 24/7 once the slab comes up to temp you want you your boiler to be north of 165*f so it doesn’t sweat and cause it to rust in your case with 3/8” steel it’ll take a long while to rot out but I feel like you need to add a aquastat and a electronic dampener that open and closes as water temp raises and falls or it will boil over and as for your pex lines in the ground they’ll work but when you get ground water around them your heating it and your temps will be very very low there’s a saying in the boiler industry but the expensive stuff now you buy it later either way your gonna buy it I’m not trying to insult you in any way just tying to help

hi toopoor , a little update on the boiler ,i started with 4 hr runs and now with adjusting the air inlets (draft style) i am up to 8-9 hr runs and the temps coming out are 30 degrees celsius,without the outer shell on which i am in the process of building,next video will show this

NO video ...musta been built years ago. Reminds me of my video... all pictures no video. You musta learned a lot from this build....I know I did with my build. Hope yours is workin good for ya...mine was rebuilt twice and now decommissioned . Somedays I wanna build another one...but I doubt I will .☹

hi pete i just built it 3 weeks ago and had to do some mods (more air intake surface)as it wasnt drawing enough to keep the fire lit and plan to add a blower in the very near furture ,how was experience ? dean
