The White Rabbit seems to be cute and innocent at first, but turns out to be deadly for our main character Subaru. As always thanks to Return by Death Subaru is able to go back in time, but this time it might have been the end if not for Echidna. Since the very beginning of the story Subaru has been walking a lonely path. He was never able to talk about his burden to anyone. Always silently struggling alone all this time. However a light has appeared before his eyes & he can finally get the burden off his shoulders. Is the Witch of Greed Echidna using Subaru to pry information out of him or does she truly have a kind heart? About the otto carriage part, not only was Subaru not his friend there but rather a stranger so it doesn't exactly count against him, but Otto was driven crazy from hearing what the White Whale was saying due to his divine protection. That being said, as Subaru notes himself, when Otto came back to his sense, he came back to try pick up Subaru but he got killed by witch cultists before he could do so. Also, in the previous loop, when Subaru was going to mansion (where the massacre took place), instead of running off with the money, Otto tried convincing Subaru to come back and return to somewhere safe with him and didn't care if that meant that he wouldn't get the money

From now on I can't even fault Subaru for anything for all the stuff he goes through. That rabbit scene took the cake for one of his worst deaths. All others at least can be said to be realitively instant but that was a depiction of a slow burn until it was over. We all can imagine the weight Subaru must feel to finally get the RBD secret out. But even if Echidna is comforting him now, I still don't fully trust her to be on Subaru's side, and hopefully neither does he as he's running on vulnerable emotions right now.

So by not completely hiding her intention, she is potentially causing Subaru or whoever is interacting drop their guard since they might think they know what she is after when in reality they don't know how much she want out of that certain things.

Keep in mind that Hoshin of the wastes is the founder of the Kararagi city state. That quote from Garfiel tells us that Hoshin wasn’t just the humble merchant he is portrayed as most times he is mentioned in the novels, but also a warlord not afraid of destroying large cities.

wow, you are the only other person that gives props to subaru VA, he is phenomenal. his voice acting is believable, his despair and hopelessness in season 1 allowed rem to shine because the build up to it was masterfully executed. rem VA provided a soothing comforting contrast to his despair built over many episodes and deaths. No one i know watching this show gave props to him but i shouldn't be surprised because u did wonderful job dissecting each episodes, very insightful and really navigated me through different perspectives that i might have missed. great job

Web novel reader hear, to clarify it since it isn't exactly spoilery but was only dropped in the back ground convos as a slight nod, but is better clarified in the webnovel. So semi spoiler? Anyways, it was mentioned in passing before, but there are 3 great entity or mabeast slash monsters. The white whale, the great snake, and the great rabbit. They've slain the white whale, and this is in fact the great rabbit. I'll try not to spoil too much, but I will say they were made by the same being. Leaving it at that since you should find out more next episode. I'd extrapolate that those marks are actually a mark of their creator. As for the mabeat thing, controlling the dog mabeasts is one thing, but you can't really directly control the other ones (perse). That's all from me though, hoped that cleared things up!

Thanks for pointing out those homages, I can't believe that I didn't notice the Hoshin surname. Garfiel's beast form is lit and I've appreciated how everyone risked their necks for Subaru (especially considering his despair in Ep. 18 about everyone's former opinion of him in this world and his original one). You're so right about Echidona being the "audience surrogate", which at that moment brought him to tears that someone can finally understand his Return by Death ability, something that he had always wanted to confess since the beginning. I've been seriously waiting for The Great Rabbit to appear, which was gruesome and awesome (I'll never look at Rabbits the same way again lol). I'm glad I've read the web novel well before this aired, it just makes everything doubly impressive.

Something that you missed in your analysis of the bunny is the peculiar seal on the back of each bunny. You would have linked it to the white whale scene which had a larger symbol on its head which leads me to another theory. When Rem and Crusch were fighting Regulus and Lye, Regulus mentioned that they killed his "pet" which leads me to believe that they are his creation. I have some other smaller theories(but I haven't read the novels yet)which is that it could also be a collaboration with Lye in how the town completely disappeared. You mentioned how there was no blood but only clothing which lead me to believe that it could also have the authority of gluttony's powers where they could devour sanctuary and not leave a trace. But this theory just stems from how well the bunnies cleaned up their mess and how Regulus and Lye worked together in the fight so I presumed that they are close allies. Like I said I haven't read the light novels yet so Idk a clue on what happens.

Roswall didn't actually say that "Oh those words don't mean anything to you" but that "I see, those words were insufficient for you." when Subaru recalled hearing them the first time. If it was just a matter of Subaru being confused, more cryptic words weren't going to clear things up any further. Speculation He knows, and when recognising Subaru's familiarity with the initial words assumed that he had already spoken them and failed to get a useful outcome.

After rewatching I can appreciate the faces they gave him which made me feel sadden and shocked. They were really pulling from the legendary episode 15.

I can’t believe Some people say Subaru is the weakest isekai protagonist ever. He’s just a normal guy brought into a bizarre world and forced into a very unnatural situation, furthermore up until now he can’t even confide in anyone about his pain and suffering. The things he’s been through would have made someone go mad but he’s still going through all of it just for the people close to him even with them kinda ruining him in some moments yet he forgives them and that takes a lot to do. He may not even have any op ability but his will is definitely one of the strongest, even if it broke down multiple times, he still put it back together.
