You're right on the money, Ryan. His hand anomaly and freakishly long brachioradialis (not brachialis) attachment provides an immense leverage advantage. This enables him to generate enormous power despite having relatively small biceps. There are a lot of guys with huge biceps that don't have very good backpressure, specifically because they have a short brachioradialis. This is why I've always said that the biggest genetic factor in determining backpressure potential is the brachioradialis. It is a MUCH more important muscle than the bicep when assessing potential, as bicep length varies to a much lesser degree among people than brachioradialis length does. There are some guys whose brachioradialis is extremely short...just a couple of inches...while other guys are looking at 5, 6, 7, or in the case of Oleg, about 12 inches. The advantage this provides, from a backpressure standpoint, cannot be overstated. The only way that someone with a short brachioradialis muscle can build impressive backpressure is for them to acheive an extradordinarily high level of biceps development. Unfortunately, most people don't have the genetic potential to develop their biceps to that degree...and of those that do, it still requires a lot of drugs. The brachioradialis nullifies all of that. This is why almost all the armwrestlers in the world known for their back pressure either have an above average length brachioradialis muscle...or massive biceps. When you combine extreme brachioradialis length with a massive hand, that is when you get world champions. Ryan, you have a fairly long brachioradialis yourself, which is a big reason why your backpressure is pretty good, despite having biceps that arent that big. Your true potential is probably much greater than you think. You have good backpressure potential and a fairly large hand and wrist structure. However, there are two types of potential...drug assissted and natural. I don't recommend trying to maxout the former, as you would need to damage your health in order to get there. If you wanted to and were willing to really push things (which means drugs AND food, long-term), I'm sure you could acheive backpressure somewhere in the 160-170 pound range (legit, fully posted on a table), but you would probably be weighing around 300 lbs at that point. In my opinion, you should try to maximize your potential at the 220-225 lb class. You could still go quite far within that weight class without having to damage your health with drugs, food and excessive bodyweight...all three of which are damaging to the system when taken to extreme degrees.
@nakodares59823 жыл бұрын
I appreciate you wrote so much and you clearly thought about it a lot, but do you have anything to back up what you're saying? Any research, specific examples with measurements of brachioradialis? Other than Oleg of course, that's just one case and an extreme example.

This proves it. Amazing to me because he only has it in 1 arm. People don't want to hear this but Genetics above anything else is the number 1 trait in any strength or size competition. Yes, there are other factors, but genetics is and forever will be most important. Seen too many guys train & eat great who look the same years later. If you can already put up a 380 triple while natural then I don’t see how your triple would only increase to 405 if you took gear. Would prob be 450+ unless you’re one of those non responders. Steroids make a huge difference. There’s a guy I know who had a 265 squat pre gear after a year or two of lifting and after using gear, he can now squat 450+ after 6 months. Granted, he may respond particularly well to steroids. He could also barely put up two plates on bench and now he can do around 330-350

Definitely the strongest pound for pound arm wrestler in the World Oleg Even Devon struggled with him left his weak arm Anyway it looks ridiculous when he slays the open weights He hits hard as over in a flash. I think all the Aussie's would have their work cut out with him. He's even got a pin against the Georgian Hulk no mean feat when he's more than double Olegs weight. Then you get a sense of his world power to weight ratio. Irakalis's not fat off on power to weight.
@joekake5863 жыл бұрын
@Dave Easy Vectorz Bowen With tens of thousands of laps under his belt, Thorpedo would have huge arm and shoulder strength, plus stamina. Swimmers have very strong bodies especially Olympic champs multiple world record holder in his prime. Any way he'd do alright in arm wrestle, he'll be naturally very strong. Thorpe was an old hero of mine. Danyon loader was our NEw Zealand swimming champ who was the King in his era, Atlanta 1996, don't quote me, the year. 200m 400m gold medalist etc. My aim is to be the best for my age in my country, then the world. I have high aspirations like you Blue. I know you want to be the no1 Aussie, and best in the world for your natural weight. If you don't aim high you'll never get high. I'm old but I still clean up guys half, a third of my age. I even tell them how I do it before and during a pull like Devon talking all the time. They all say they're smash me, but they have their tails wagging when it goes to the script, so funny but I try to be humble and encourage them to train up and challenge me again when they're much stronger. My last pull a young fellow 20s sin of a close friend of mine, can do multiple one arm pull ups, big bench press weights, the show off type person, that likes doing well them in your face you know type. Still told him as he is strong, he'll hit big, but I'll catch him, level up, go into a press, to an advantage leverage, he getting weaker, I'm telling I can hold all day, and pin him at will on the second I want to. We had 3 pulls identical ending but he got weaker each pull. To me half of it is upstairs in the mind. I've pulled huge boys in their prime, 30s, but they all go to script me talking like Devon as I know I'll win, I never say I'll lose. Anyway my biggest dream is to beat the man John Brzenk the Goat or have at least a pull. I started arm wrestling late only about a year in. Though I knew I had talent for the sport, because in my early 20s I knew some big body builders ( mates) who lived in the gym huge muscles, but everytime I arm wrestled them I never lost. I didn't do any training or ever went in a gym. They couldn't believe they couldn't beat me. I just had good stamina and didn't get tired or gave up. Anyway I'm the same age as Brzenk, well I'm ,2 months older. Though I'm 57 58 early next year I've never been any stronger. Even stronger than I was in my 20 s. Anyway Covid sucks for pulling with lockdowns. The only good is I can train to be strong. I saw Monster Todd'20 rice and bucket exercises for a strong hand and wrist. Anyway can't put something down unless you try it. Anyway getting stronger and hope to pull my relative sometime when theirs no lockdown. My cousin's who are Maatewairangi cousins too are huge their forearms, a couple even make Maatewairangi look small, my cuzzys I could practice with. Anyway I'll still go in saying I'm going to win even against him, 9 X NZ X champ, 4 X Oceanic. It's mainly upstairs for me, the will to win. Happy Pulling!

@slizzardman Жыл бұрын
Not exactly. Longer muscle bellies give greater angular distance under peak acceleration when compared to a shorter muscle belly with the same total muscle + tendon length and the same relative attachments and moment arms... but muscle belly length has nothing to do with peak muscular force production. Larger physiologic CSA (pcsa), meaning more parallel contractile structures, directly increases maximal peak force production but has nothing to do with the length-tension OR force-velocity relationships. Musculotendinous origins and insertions that result in a larger moment art will increase external torque produced by a given pcsa, and will similarly result in higher peak velocities produced by a given muscle belly length. This guy likely has significant congenital hemihypertrophy, which may or may not be due to a genetic condition like Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome.

He's a big guy but for me Devon is the first one and Oleg between 1st and 2nd one. He's gonna be the proud successor of Devon LARRATT and it's not easy, I think. Sorry for my english. Vincent from France.

If Oleg stayed in his weight class he could have dominated for the next 50 years. This kid is just that strong pound per pound... but he always armwrestling 1 or 2 weight classes above his weight. I remember a 160lbs oleg giving Devon larrat 6'5 270lbs alot of trouble.

Franco Columbo wrote a book years ago about bodybuilding, and he commented about how animals, like bears, have higher tendon insertions resulting in more physical strength, thus they are stronger than humans. Zhokh apparently has that same structure in his left forearm.
