I'm also all for that, but these other things aren't peripheral nonsense. The laity's activity is primarily or mostly sanctifying the world in the temporal sphere, out in the world, out in the secular world. In contrast, the clergy's activity is primarily focused on sanctifying the world through the spiritual sphere (such as through the sacraments). Furthermore, the Church's teaching warns that Christians who feel they have no obligations to build-up this world because of their hope in the afterlife, are far from the mark: their Christian faith obliges them all the more to build-up this world. And finally, canon law obliges all Christians to evangelise, and for the lay faithful, that is going to be mostly in the temporal world and affairs. The Church teaches that taking an interest in culture and politics, and voicing an opinion about such things, can be construed as a way to evangelise.

What a disappointment to learn of Melania’s lifetime pro choice position. I wish she would have just kept quiet about it. I held her in such high esteem for brilliant she expressed her opinion to the Lincoln Conservatives (and was paid a hefty fee for her speech) and her pro choice position diminished my admiration for her. President Trump must be informed that6 or more embryos are trashed for 1 embryo to be successfully implanted. I don’t want my taxes to pay for that.

Arroyo did a shockingly terrible job handling IVF with Trump, sheez! The goal of Catholics (in this instance) shouldn't be to run to ask for a cut-out so that you don't have to be directly involved in something objectionable - you should oppose the practice itself and explain why and persuade others why they too should not be involved either. What Arroyo did was unwittingly concede that he/orthodox Catholics will be fine with a national policy of promoting and funding mass IVF. Absolutely nuts!

The Papal Posse presuppose that the Pope disapproves of how the Chinese government has imprisoned Cardinal Zen, and several Bishops. However, the Papal Posse has never referred to a single utterance of disapproval of any aspect of this situation from Pope Francis. The Papal Posse should examine the theological beliefs and practices of the imprisoned clergy. If their practices and beliefs mirror Cardinal Zen's, then it is reasonable to assume that Pope Francis is complicit in the detention of these Church leaders by the Chinese government. It is more tidy, and easier, for the Pope to remain silent regarding these detentions so that the faithful can assume that the Pope disapproves of these actions, than it would be to 'remove the privileges' of clerics who preach according to the past 2000 years of Catholicism (and the Gospel itself), rather than puppet the new, profound Catholic Progressivism. If the Pope removed the privileges, and perhaps otherwise defrocked Cardinal Zen and his band of antiquated worshippers, then that would give critical-thinking Catholics, such as the members of the Papal Posse, some real meat on the bone to chew-on. And that would be antithetical to the current Pontif's obsession with theological ambiguity at all costs.
