Athletics should really be spread across the entire period so that athletes are able to recover so as to be able to contest multiple events e.g. 1500m, 5000m, 10,000m and - doing a Zatopek - even the marathon.

With Rai Benjamin's ability to run 44.0-2 over the flat 400 and the margin of difference being 1.8-2.0 seconds between that and the 400 hurdles with a flawless technique, I believe he can run 45.8-46.0. I mean he usually runs these low 44 times in April. I suspect he actually drops to 43.9-44.0 during major championships. Which would explain that 43.25 relay split in Tokyo.

I loved Sebastian Coe. One of my all time favorite runners. Sydney Maree, Eamonn Coghlan, Alberto Salazar, Said Aouita, Edwin Moses, Zola Budd and many, many more. I would say Steve Prefontaine but I’m only 56 and didn’t really become interested in running until after Steve left us early. He died when I was 8. Most of my faves I have met over the years. But my absolute favorite runner is Tom Raunig. I miss the 80s and how important running was to the US. Even non-athletes knew the names of many of the world’s best. The Wide World of Sports on ABC showed big-time running events. Life was good.

Wow, you mentioned Zola Budd... Are you South African.. I was in school in the 80s and was obsessed by the barefoot wonder from Bloemfontein.. I kept clippings of all her newspaper articles.. Added to that, Decker was not in Budd’s league in my opinion. I didn’t care where Zola was from even though I knew of all that was bad about South Africa. Zola Budd was the world’s best. It’s that simple. A fantastic competitor. And who would not want to see the world’s best? Besides, Zola is only a year older than me. And seeing someone from my age group dominating was fantastic.

I remember during the tokio race i kept rhinking he is going to fade cuz this is way too fast start, but he just didnt.

I'm maybe crazy but I think if all three have their peak in Olympics, we can see three sub 46 (and even three sub 45.94, all the podium better than the actual world record). I think it's totally possible to see times like 45.70 or even faster. I think also we can see others athletes break 47 seconds in this final. Maybe see times like Kevin Young, but only be 4th or 5th in the finals. I think it's really a possibility that all athletes in the finals sub 48, to have like 5 people sub 47, and the top 3 sub 46. Yeah it's a crazy prediction but the level in this discipline is unprecedented and this track is going to be absurdly fast. If they all manage to have their peak now and if the weather is good, I can totally see this happen.

I also got Rai Benjamin in first simply because he looks in great shape and he has something to prove. Personally though, i want Karsten Warholm to win with another crazy fast time.

Dos Santos is ready for gold and a new WR. Rai will choke.

If the mens 800m or 1500m is not tactical and someone pushes the pace and runs to win both records could be broken.

I also think Rai will win the IH, but he won't crack 46 seconds in the process. JMO

Truly depends on what race he runs. He ran 46.4 at the trials, if he peaks at the right time we could see something crazy

Why do some international sports associations allow athletes to be taken advantage of, especially in terms of gender? It is not necessary to say which sports, because we all know that sometimes the referee's decision is unfair and goes against the eyes of the audience. Or there may be benefits involved. It is truly sad and pitiful for the athletes who have been taken advantage of, who have worked so hard to train.
