At first I thought this is not a new video, but then I realized in the middle of this week we were at freezing and had almost 3" of snow. I don't live on a mountain. I'm in Cincinnati right on the Ohio River. First, this scenery is unbelievable. Going up the snowy trail with blue sky and those overhead spiral views were spectacular. Testing the equipment gave us a "in the driver's seat" view. "I feel the need - the need for speed". Once again, you did it Mike. We see the future.

As a avid backcountry snowmobiler the battery life in the cold and distance it can go still worry’s me as well as the WEIGHT! I’m not the only one that breaks at least one part per season so how accessible are parts and of course how does it do in the real technical and deep snow, to me a top speed test means nothing personally. I’m definitely not sold on it after this “test” but maybe it is a step closer to the future but then you look at electric dirtbikes and see how bad they flopped. Hope the best for the company though!
@Wearespurstv

2 strokes won't die if they get to cold plus you get to piss off a liberal so it's a double win. Always buy 2 stroke and demand they start making them again.

Right. Where do you get parts if you are 500 miles from home! And where do you charge it? Most riders bring extra gas

I can see these being super popular at ski resorts. Being able to keep them topped off without needing to buy fuel could be great for them. Have a charger at all the ski patrol stations and they will never have to worry about running low on gas. the fast acceleration and torque is great for response times too.

I was in Svalbard, Norway and Sweden riding Snowmobile... At first I was trying to stay away but a few moment had passed I was stuck with it and had never let it go. That was hillarious moment but things come out with the positive Snow Crystal made me wanted to settle down there permanently. Sleight ride and Sleight bells ring but Snowmobile is more energetic for using over the frozen snow and sometime can be on the deep snow!

The Atlas looks good for playing in your backyard but doesn't have enough range for serious trail or backcontry riding. The people I ride with frequently do 120-150 mile days. The Nomad looks great for ice fishing, farm and forestry work and ski resorts. I see it being Taiga's most popular model.

Mike - At 06:30 - the engineer mentioned placing system sensors in the radiator and I found that a bit odd as this isn't a traditional gas-powered snowmobile [so why a radiator?] Then it dawned on me that they needed a way to offset excess heat discharged while there are heavy loads being used from the battery area. The system is really quiet and you can definitely hear gears and tracks moving in this system. I'm still skeptical about all totally electric vehicles [snow or otherwise] because if you get too far out of the way and there is no generator or access to the power grid, how do you recharge the vehicle?
@DownieLive
@DownieLive 3 жыл бұрын
You'd have to get towed back, just like if you ran out of gas.
@mstrdiver
@mstrdiver 3 жыл бұрын
@@DownieLive - Michael ~~ The irony is that the towing vehicle would probably be a gas-powered vehicle. I saw a diesel wrecker towing an out-of-power Tesla last winter on Interstate 95 in Virginia. The owner continued to run his car like he was going to get his usual average mileage during his trip and failed to factor in the extra battery use heating the vehicle cabin in the cold. That's something I didn't ever worry about in my gas vehicle, plus I've not heard of a 4WD all-electric vehicle yet either.

That IS ridiculous! I love it!! No wait, I LOVE IT!! Haha. Looks to be very competitively priced too. Pretty cool! Remember, this is WORK so look professional while you're ripping across that frozen lake @ 100 kph. LOL 140 km on a charge for the top end and a recharge in 3 hours with the Level 2 charger, under an hour with the Level 3 (probably for ski resorts, etc). NICE!

Is that range on a trail? Because if it is, track spin up a hill will destroy the range!

A battery will warm up, once under load, it sounds like they have simply insulated it so as to retain that heat?

Cool. How does the range of distance and power compare with a traditionally fueled snowmobile? The only drawback I see is running out of fuel. On a traditional unit, a buddy can haul up a gallon or two of gas. Of course, with responsible planning that would not occur.

Most everyone that rides in the back country usually carries a small fuel can, usually 2 to 3 gallons. These sleds wouldn’t make in those conditions.

Yes, I didn't hear one mention of range in the whole video. They must have shut off the generator at the test site when they were doing the interview.

How dose it do in the Deep snow, move it up on its side, how long of ride, go in the mountains and have no electricity , top speed, and how much for it, how to plug it in, can it take some beating, how’s the battery going to hold up during the summer when it’s not getting used, how can you ride it before the battery’s crap out, how many miles can you put on before it craps out

One more thing...will they (whoever they are) be putting electrical charging stations throughout the forests, hills, and plains now? Would be super to be able to charge my phone and sled while on a hunt deep in the woods. Also, mid lake charging stations on every lae in the world would be ideal for us icefisherman! Nice!!
