You know as I listen to your analysis at the end I ponder the future of etmb racing in any venue. Other than rider weigh advantages, until the power/motors/torque is regulated and equalized within emtb racing there will never be an even playing field where the bike/setup and rider will really get to shine... even if all the racers are the size of horse jockeys 😉 Just my opinion. Interesting and I have no doubt that it was ALL VERY HARD work. I have recently bit the bullet and joined the ebike revolution. In my experience the fun factor of an ebike only pays off as long as you keep the overall 'pedalling' speed below the limiter. Once you hit the limiter, its all seems to go in revere! In fact, I have found that on the trails, it's SO MUCH easier to setup your speed for jumps & tech bits, on a normal bike, then it is on an ebike.

the concept is very cool and very doable but with some minor adjustments... the downhill section in my opinion needs to be steeper to gain more speed and more challenging with several linechoices. Think more rythmsections that are jumpable in different ways rather then a turnfest... so that catching up doesnt end up being behind and not able to overtake.. same with the uphill... needs to be more lines and features that makes it even more technical so that a lighter rider doesent benefit "to much" but rather promote technical skills...

Yhea but the concept is definitely there just needs some thought about the track and to actually build a specific ebike track not use ones for motorbikes which will always have a bit to much flat not enough tech climbs etc. Needs a mix of bmx course with ebike features and climbs thrown in maybe.

Look make jokes about ebiking being cheating etc and yes you can work just as hard if you want to and I absolutely believe that ebikes are a better training tool in many ways. However the obvious difference between the riders who ride normal MtBs and EMtBs all the time was pretty clear. While you can push yourself and work as hard you don't have to and it's easier to lose shape and to not be as fit when just doing your normal riding.

Why no women? Boring competition and completely behind the times. // And only two bike companies? This smells like hidden sponsorship. At least be so ethical to tell us viewers who is paying for the event and why there are no other EMTBs by for example Moustache, Lapierre and Trek, which made first places in world cups.

Nevertheless, this seems to be an especially sponsored event, where drivers probably had to use the sponsor's bike. Or they didn't select the best riders, but only those with Specialized or Canyon sponsorships while ignoring all other male and female riders. In the beginning, I trusted EMBN for unbiased product reviews, but since then it became clear to me that many of their videos are plainly, but more or less hidden, adverts for Specialized et al - like this video.

this wouldn't work. the track for electric mtb racing would have to be, much wider, and MUCH longer to make it a more skill based race. first, the strongest watt motors will just have a purely unfair advantage (these can go 60 even 80 mph, extremely unsafe.) let's assume we have wattage restrictions, passing would be an absolute pain, the riders never get tired. and if you're the same wattage Goodluck passing the guy going the same speed and also not getting tired. taking athleticism away from the sport sounds like candy. which is probably exactly what most cyclists are trying to avoid. fitness is king. maybe we should make basketball hoops bigger so nobody misses. we should make baseballs magnetic so they can be hit more consistently. no. these ideas ruin the skill aspect of sports. motor racing, like dirt bikes, cars, etc, obviously exist, but are, massively more expensive, and the tracks are much, much, much wider, with no obstacles because, those high speeds are absolutely dangerous. (and high speeds also need wider tracks, safety.) if you desperately need a new sport, look into cycleball
