My dude, how do you not know half the most popular songs by bands that were well known. Rock MBA but you got no clue about NIN songs? Were you even in the 90s? It's like you name every band I've nor most people have even heard of and then when it comes to big big bands like Marylin Manson or Smashing Pumpkins you are lost. Very niche tastes I suppose but not recognizing a NIN song is pretty strange to me. Kids who were into Korn were also into groups like NIN and even STP. The bands you list I'm like, "who is that?"

Toadies' possum kingdom almost got me in trouble in college. It was 2004, and my sprint flip phone needed a cool, classic, garbled sounding ring tone. I chose that one. Walked into one of my professor's office to talk about how I disagreed with how he graded a paper. Friend calls me to see where I'm going for lunch. All of a sudden my phone starts screaming, "Do you wanna die?!?!" My professor was not a tech savvy person and was visibly shaken and nervous, until I explained what was going on.

Back in the days I thought that it was a parody of "My Name Is" by Eminem, so it's not like the song is bad - it just mimics some other artist and on purpose adds silly stuff like putting butt on things (like one would do if their brain was actually dead weight and unlike the counter part - no attempt of trying to get it straight as far as anyone can tell) - instead of... stapling nuts, flashing bouncers, performing acts of mayhem on Pamela and being generally angry and going postal.

2. I met Montell at some church-bred convention where he was speaking that I was forced to attend back in college. One heckler, in particular, kept on yelling out "fraud" and "you sold your soul in the 90's, why are you here?" for his background in "secular music". 3. Speaking of my college days, had their albums 'Gran Turismo' and 'Long Gone Before Daylight' in constant rotation. There's so much more diversity to them beyond their first hit.

This reminded of a time I had bubble gut pop up while I was out running. I went through a distance running phase where I was running anywhere from about 3-10 miles every day, first thing in the morning. So I'm out on a trail, right at dawn, and the only other people out there were some middle aged women getting in their power walk. I was 2 miles from home and there was no store of any kind anywhere near me. I had to wait until I couldn't see anyone coming, run over to the tree line about 10 feet off the paved trail, and left something horrible right there in the grass. Then I ran the rest of the way home without being able to wipe. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll ever forget that morning

B*witched definitely weren't a one hit wonder here in the UK. Their first 4 songs all went to number one here and their 5th release made the top 5. The Cardigans were also quite successful here with songs other than "Love fool" such as "Erase/rewind" and "My favourite game" being hits. Their singer Nina Perssons also joined The Manic Street Preachers on "You're love alone is not enough" a few years ago. It was a minor hit. Sixpence none the richer had one more here. It was a cover of "There she goes" by the La's.

But instead of a pizza date, it turned into a group outing with Leigh, her label's CEO, a few of my friends, a few friends of the band, a few label reps, and little ol' me. Noticeably absent: her boyfriend, at the time, who absolutely refused to go.

When possum kingdom was on the radio all the time, at a house party where the acid went south for one of the participants, ( we all were blasted on LSD , important information) a gun came out. My friend and I decided that it was best not to stay ( gun was pointed at him) so we hop in my car . What's playing, Do You Want To Die on the repeat during the chorus. There are now two people where the acid turned on them. He is losing his shit I'm driving away crying I'm laughing so hard.

My question about party night is was Finn letting the silent but violent ones seep out or was he just flat out revving the chainsaw around these chicks? 🤣

One thing that ruined songs was setting them as your ringtone. Some tunes I still can’t listen without getting thrown back to 2004 and searching for my phone

At the South Pacific in Tumwater in 2001-2004, they went nuts when my band (Sunny Jim) would rock the Toadies. It revolves around the 4/4 and 5/4 time signatures so everyone from Tumwater thought were sooo talented we were capable of playing in 9/4 and no one fell down. Everyone from Lacey thought we were 3 wizards and a soothsayer bestowing upon them, the magical power held within the Oracle of the Golden Rune Stones.

I was hoping for Flagpole Sitta by Harvey Danger. Talk about the quintessential 90's one hit wonder lol. Admittedly, I never heard the Toadies one until this time right here, can't say it wowed me at all. Montell Jordan tho, yeah that was awesome.

"The Bum Bum Song" was everywhere back then. It was ahead of it's time before Vine and TikTok. I think they created the TRL "retirement rule" because everyone voted for this song to be on TRL for so long that the producers got tired of it and created the "retirement rule". lol

The rule was already in place. It hit #1 once and Tom retired it.
