Last OP is a real one. A lot of times Reddit expects people to act and speak perfectly at all times, but all those questions are valid. I think this woman is trying to force herself to be happy about the pregnancy and taking it out on OP. Children deserve to be wanted. If she doesn't want to be a mother, she shouldn't be

Well yeah, perfection is everything. If it's not perfect, it's not right.

I agree, it sounded like her reaction was really out of character, so there's definitely something else going on there

I may just be catastrophizing based on my own experience, but I think OP, or better yet, a mutual friend, should check in on Sadie's well-being. She may be in a new relationship with someone who doesn't know her past, or judges her for it, which could explain why she was so defensive. Isolation (OP hasn't seen Sadie in a while) and baby-trapping are very common abuse tactics, and many people in unhealthy relationships experience "sudden 180°" changes in their personality or views to appease their partner.

One thing that is jumps out in a lot of these stories is how ENTITLED family members behave just because you are related. Like babe, don’t take your close ones for granted, if you behave like a little shit don’t be shocked if there are repercussions.

yess!!! People are going to get tired of misstreatment! It's shocking how frequent this happens.

22:16 Honestly, it is hard to control yourself in a first reaction at any age, but especially at 21. This is one of those things you learn how to do and sometimes have to experience. I have no idea how I would react if my Husband fully shaved his face. He has always had a goatee and he just looks so good with it and he feels so good with it.

Stories 4,5 and 6 are breakupable for me. Especially the funeral one. As someone who lost a parent id be so angry if my partner made it all about them like actually fuck you

16:25 at my BFs dad's funeral, one of my BFs childhood friend's girlfriend pouted the WHOLE TIME! She sat with her arms crossed and looked annoyed, we found out it was bc they couldn't stop at the dispensary before they got there. Genuinely fuckin ridiculous. Still don't like her. I feel so bad for OP in that story. I can't imagine if my BF (now fiance) had to go through his loss with someone like that. I'm not saying I was perfect, but I worked my ass off that first few weeks after his dad passed trying to make his life as easy as I possibly could.

Love your "disclaimer" ! More people need to have that mindset it is so ridiculous how upset everyone gets when someone has an opinion. How boring would the world be if we were all the same?

The dude is all butt hurt because his gf’s family CLEARLY has more money than his own to the point that he HAS to mention what his parents do for a living AND give unsolicited financial advice (bro, wealthy people are that way because they are smart with their money!). Then he’s clutching his pearls at her spending BUT still accepts a Cartier Santos watch??? What the actual f*ck? 🤬 19:53
@LiliLedesma-rw2kg3 ай бұрын
The last one, she's probably just really hormonal and shocked herself. I think she'll reach back out eventually she just needs time to process. I agree, though. The friend responded exactly like I would and have when my friends who aren't trying for kids right now have had pregnancy scares or literal positive tests.

For the last story, I don’t think she’s the AH. I also don’t think the friend who is pregnant is an AH for her reaction. I was all over the place with different emotions when I first found out I was pregnant. I feel like their friendship will be fine in the long run she probably just needs time for those extreme hormones to calm before having a conversation about it.

In the first story FAFO. They were literally warned. But, stuff like that is pure insanity. You just happen to be associated with this awful family, so we hate you, that's so unfair to people like OP Story 2 I would just be fat for 4 or 5 months and the stork magically brought the baby 😜😂😂 Don't tell these people

I think the pregnant lady who doesn't want her in-laws told it's a girl, should tell them when she's ready that there is to be no favouritism, before cutting them off completely as u suggested. The child deserves a chance at a relationship with them and vice versa. Cutting them off without having that very important conversation is harsh isabella
@LifewithIsabellaLanter3 ай бұрын
i agree they should have a chance only if they don't display blatant favoritism. I'm not saying cut them off immediatley but if it comes down to it there shouln't be misstreatment on two children and the other one gets loved on. That would be really damadging for those other kids. Communication up front is important but if boundaries are violated then the parents should go into protection mode and keep distance. They can try again later if they'd like but ultimatley prioritizing their childrens treatment is necessary. If they lack boundaries to understand that then they don't sound like good grandparents either.

For the second story, I would tell the mother-in-law that the baby is intersex, but we aren't able to know quite yet which sex would be more dominant.

At the 18 mark im thinking she spends family money not her money so for them to build a life together how does he keep her lifestyle on their own. If he liked spending with her then he would be a gold digger! 10,000 on a trip or purse is huge money that 6 figure careers will still be in debt over. Honestly i think its green flag behavior if he is wanting to marry her and not have to live on family money

I come from a tiny town, and I can say first hand that they really are that clique-ish. My family practically helped create the town, we have extensive history there, yet it's not a good rep. And that determined friendships and relationships. :/
@squash6497Ай бұрын
Yup! People who have never lived in a small town think it's like Stars Hollow. It's really more like Shirley Jackson.
