Just so everyone knows, if you have trouble with clumpy gravy powder it's because you're adding it to hot water instead of dissolving it in cold water first. The hot water activates the thickening agent. So first cold water, then heat it up and it'll be perfect every time.

yeah, powdered sauces use starch which works that way, so you either throw it in a pot with cold water and slowly thicken it by heating it up, or you make a slurry (mix it with cold water in a glass/cup) and throw that over your stir fry or whatever and immediately start to stir as it'll thicken instantly her soup was literally boiling, so it clumped instantly (if she worked with lower temperatures and added it slowly and mixed instantly, maybe she could get away with this technique to some extent)

The beginning when she cuts towards her thumb is actually how a lot of people i know peel potatoes including myself. It's weird and at first when my mom taught me i was scared, but you get a pairing knife that isnt too sharp or dull and just slightly cut the surface towards ur thumb and its like a stopper. Usually its something u do when you dont have a peeler or just are lazy.

I peel taters like this, cucumbers and carrots I cut away from me with the peeler. I have better control with a paring knife but I definitely don't hold it like she does lol.. and veg gets chopped with a small santoku, not a paring knife. I don't use a knife at all when making greyveh.

@@mandala314 you just don't boil meat for soup. You want to make your broth first, then add you ingredients such as pan cooked ground beef, noodles, and some vegetables. Honestly a low simmer of all the ingredients afterwards would have been better. You can also cook this in a crockpot if want all the ingredients to come together.

When she mentioned salt here, she said Veg-all salt, also known as Vegetal, which is a pouch of basically an all purpose seasoned salt, that's pretty popular in European countries. It contains extra things like onion & garlic powder, celery seed and other things. If I wasn't so familiar with this product, as well as her region's particular English accent, I wouldn't have caught it myself! LOL This is a riot, guys!

The "black salt" is an oxo cube (Beef stock cube) but the reduced salt version. People use it to make stocks and gravy here in the UK.
