Memes are so garbage these days. I know there's the old Simpson's clip "I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was, and now everything new is weird and scary to me. It'll happen to youuuu" But damn, it can't just be me... it's concerning how much brain rot there is on social media doom scrolling now. I think the main factor is that content is no longer organic and the internet is truly for everyone now (including the worst of society and the most mediocre of normies). Almost everything is made by the many clout/money chasers. People used to make memes when they thought of something funny and wanted to share, or at most, just doing it for the ego/attention, but not with a real expectation of money. But all the top companies are dedicated to getting more and more watch time, engagement, and ads at the cost of general society. Makes me concerned for future generations and the iPad kids. I hope when I have kids, I can teach them to use memes within reason. But in reality, they'll probably just think I'm an out of touch buzzkill like I did to my parents 😅.
