The Worst Harley Davidson in 2025 Before The Dealer Event - Road King Special Gets No Love in 2025

I can live with the old stuff, though I'd much rather have the standard Road King. You get so much more for so much less. The whole engine displacement thing is a charade. I have a Heritage with a 114 and just traded a Road King 107 that is much heavier. Both are stage 1 and any acceleration advantage is miniscule. The Heritage probably accelerates a tad quicker, but I think the 107 actually pulls a higher top speed. None of that matters a whit in everyday riding. For all intents and purposes, it's the same thing. The difference is the $6k more Special has no windshield, no passenger floorboards, no crash bars, no full travel shock, no passenger friendly seat, no passing lamps. It is stuck with crappy handlebars, a higher inertia front wheel w/ less comfy front tire, stretched bags that can't be set down upright on the floor, and a jewel of an engine hidden under black spray paint. If they sold this one for about $16 so one could put that money into making it a decent traveling bike, that'd be okay. But at $26k, they're smokin dope.

Your points are spot on.. first year 17 RKS came with a 107, 18 RKS came with a 114. What's next? Using up old parts I guess. Long Live The King!

I hear what you say about the price for a motorcycle that hasn't changed in 7 years and I agree with you on that. Also on the fact that we find used models with low mileage at low prices. But you can't say it's garbage, it's a great bike, I have one from 2024, but it's the model I wanted and it has RDRS and Hill Assist. I don't like the new body design of the Street Glide and Road Glide, I don't like the TV screen. I prefer the traditional look of the old models and the simplicity of the Road King... Better off buying a Lowrider S or ST with the 117 and adding a 2-1 exhaust, tuner and Nasty Hog chopped bags. Harley seems to be wanting the company to tank. Definitely going down hill. The amount of issues with my 2023 ST and Harley not warranting even my Fosgate system. I’ll never buy another new Harley.

No, you do not have to replace the oil pump on the 107. I have 40,000 miles on mine and it runs fine. No sumping. If you build a bigger engine the do it. But stock 107 is fine.

I think Harley Davidson needs to get rid of the aircooled design, we live in 2024 we don't need a push rod engine that keeps breaking down. It's time to go with a similar liquid cooled design that the revolution max engine. Or a complete redesign of their engine, aircooled is last century technology.

They don't want to sell road Kings. They want you to have a video screen. If they wanted to sell this bike they would put the windshield back on it. They simply want to sell road glides and Street glides. The road king is the best harley. I have one 2020
