Your statement that 10 years earlier Harley dominated with 100% of the 1000cc and larger market then went down to 10% in 1982. I was a young adult and motorcycle enthusiast in 1972. I'm trying to think of any 1000cc+ import motorcycle? No, can't think of any. Honda CB750, Kawasaki Z1 900, BMW R75 750, Motor Guzzi 850, Ducati 750, Suzuki GT750 two stroke, Yamaha XS 650... No, can't think of any 1000cc+ competition for Harley in 1972. Then in 1975 Honda introduced the first Gold Wing the GL1000. So much a better motorcycle than any Harley. During the AMF years in the 1970s Harley was not innovating at all except changing their colors available. Japan beat them fair and square. Even with the tariffs Harley would have gone bankrupt except Malcolm Forbes, John Warner and Elizabeth Taylor started Harley riding clubs that made Harleys popular with affluent people. The lawyers, doctors, and dentists started riding Harleys. That's what saved Harley.
@LeoTheComm3 ай бұрын
That happening is what killed old school biker culture, by the time 1990 or so rolled around I couldn't stand the majority of Harley riders. I've been riding rice every since, currently on a 1980 Yamaha XS1100, a bike which will still outrun anything HD has ever built.

I understand that out of all the Shadow models, there have to be some that are considered "Worst", even if they're not that bad. But I really liked my 6 speed, 60hp, shaft drive VT700C that I used for a bobber build. Uglier than the VLX600, and everyone likes chain drive, but it had much more power and two more gears lol. And seeing One-Up Moto's "Kage" VT500c build inspired me to the point where I am currently building a VT500c scrambler.

Welp. Literally rebuilding a 1984 Honda shadow vt700c at almost 23 years old is pretty interesting. Not going to lie you aren’t wrong, it’s kinda upsetting because I’ve got a lot of original parts and oem parts on eBay and market place is a good place but like you said rubber has a self life and I have no clue when mine will run out, only 7,250 miles garage kept and honestly I have no clue if anything from your website will even fit this bike. Break fluid reservoir? It’s attached to the break lever well that was full of some amber colored thickness that had to be scraped off and I’m just trying to see if anything from your website fits. But more or less glad you made this video honestly so keep up your good work with the shadows love them myself but you’re not wrong the shaft drive and the limited availability for parts may screw me soon especially with the hoses that connect to the break calipers. Also the h*rny hat part was funny asf dawg

I could really use your help and advice. I have a 2000 1100 Aero, and cannot find a touring seat that fits it anywhere. Just wondering if any other model Shadow, Harley, VTX, Gold Wing seat can be modified to fit the Aero 1100? My wife wants to start riding with me and the stock seat just isn't good enough for two-up riding. Even If I had to modify the mounting brackets or something similar. I would really like a get Mustang to fit up on her. Much appreciated, thanks !!

I have an 85 vt700c I'm finding that the 83/84 750 body panels fit my 700 so that's a relief but i also like that the valves are hydraulically adjusted and i have 6th gear I'm 6ft+ so to make it more comfortable just get a set of bars that let me stretch my arms out further and use the cruising pegs this is a pretty decent bike imo just wish you made some fork tube extensions for it.. I'm a machinist by trade so I'll have to make my own. Unless the Harley sportster with 39mm fork tubes will fit i just don't know the thread pitch difference between the Harley and the shadows.. so if you have a sportster with 39mm forks maybe see if the caps screw into the shadows forks? I'd try if i had a sportster in my shop but i only got a shadow..

I got ran over at a stop sign on my 700c and it got stuck under the suv. me and my bud went to pick up what was left of the bike the next day and we got to ride it home. Just a couple of bent foot pegs and bent handlebar clamp never leaked a drop of anything. @TJBRUTALCUSTOMS Well, I'm one of those honest to a fault kinda guys. I'm just a guy who was born on the side of one of those Appalachian Mountains, ya know a Cherokee Army brat. Pop started me young handing him wrenches when I was 4 years old. He let me buy my first motorcycle when I was 10 from my uncle. It took Pop and me nearly two weeks to get it running right, but it was a Puch 125cc with lots of torque, while the rich kids' bikes their daddies bought them looked cooler, my old beast had GRUNT. I'll take GRUNT every time, LOL. So, my old Puch kicked their butts around the little motocross track we kids made. Who me? Go over the handlebars? Without a helmet? H3LL YEAH, I did. Oops. Like my Cherokee cousin, Will Rogers once said, "Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment." LMAO!
