I had a similar experience, but it was due to a hairdresser than just left me in the chair and never came back. I wanted to go to a darker color. She applied color, put me under a dryer, and it started burning. I am used to it being a little uncomfortable, but this was by far getting above my already high pain tolerance. Over 45 mins went by, she never checked on me, and I finally had to go find her in the back and tell her my scalp was burning horribly. While rinsing it was excruciating. The next day when I woke up most of my scalp was covered in a thick scab, and my scalp was weeping from spots all over. Over week I shed huge scabs, and about a month later lost about 50% of my hair density. Thank you for educating people on these kind of reactions.

Chemical burns are as bad or worse than fire burns. Honestly have respect for the product you are using. Know how to avoid disaster and what to do if something goes wrong. Burned skin never grows hair and burned eyes are blind forever Lungs injured by fumes are never the same. If the fumes are concentrated enough they can may you pass out or even stop breathing. It's not a game treat it with the seriousness you would have for defusing a bomb.

I mean... Swelling can happen and can make your head appear a lot larger than what it is. Look up pictures of people's allergic reaction to hair dyes and you will see disproportionally large heads, too. Chemical burns could definitely lead to swelling through irritation and inflammation, so that alone wouldn't be proof of it being fake.

@Isus24-s8e
@Isus24-s8e 8 ай бұрын
Her friends probably had way lighter natural hair color than her. It's the same situation like with Kim Kardashian if i remember well. She never went icy blonde in one session. She literally got a wig. People still fall for it tho. I wish that hairdresser would stop giving into ''demands'' and properly explain why something cannot be done. If client refuses to listen then refuse to do it as well. I remember like 2 years ago when i was still dying my hair purple me and my hairdresser were discussing which shade should i pick. I wanted a lighter one when she prefered the darker one. She didn't explain to me properly why she thinks that the darker one is a better idea and agreed to use the color i wanted. I ended up with uneven purple (in some areas hair didn't even take the color and remained yellow/red). I changed that hairdresser anyway after she messed up my haircut but that hair dye situation made me realize how many hairdresser just give in to clients' demands and then have to suffer the consequences.

I know 1 guy specializes in Bleaching Asian hair and works f****** miracles his in LA and it a $2000 deposit just to make an appointment. Their are people who can do it but it will cost a pretty dollar and you'll have to have someone babysit ready to rise at any second. I am 62 now but my first job was hairdressing and have never forgotten the complacency of my boss when bleaching. After reminding him bleach time was up, client was under the drier, he poo pooed me and said "leave her there I'll tell you when she's ready" I was worried. The good thing was the streaking cap protected her scalp but her hair dissolved when I rinsed and the rest came away with the cap. There were other incidents were clients with glory hair had to have their hair cut short. I have been cutting and colouring my own hair, long and short. I had a perm when I was 19 and I came out looking like an OAP tiny curls, also my hair had broken from the roots. Fantastic subject to cover, you are true to your profession.

What I love about your channel is that you are a perfect balance between kind and realistic. You want people to have healthy hair, but hair dyed 6 levels lighter than natural, or repeatedly box-dyed, cannot be healthy hair and you don't pretend otherwise. I was blonde as a kid and went "dirty blonde/mousey brown". A family hairdresser and friends perhaps innocently made me feel as though my colour wasn't pretty anymore, so I dyed it darker and ended up where I am now; a decade of shoulder length hair. Flat colour, no more bounce, no more waves and an expensive salon visit to fix it. Yours more than any other hair channel has inspired me to grow out my natural hair and to stick to a salon I can trust for an occasional haircut. No more dye and no more home cuts. Thank you, HB.

This happened to me four months before I got married and I had to shave my head, by the owner of a local salon. Everyone was horrified and begged me to sue them. But I knew the woman was a single mum struggling to work with no help. I couldn’t do it to her. Since then I haven’t cut it and it’s loooong and I don’t let anyone touch it. I found hair bhudda just after this and he taught me how to do it myself and it’s BEAUTIFULLY healthy and almost white blonde now 🥹 I’m naturally brown but have gone completely grey early in life and I’m just not ready to embrace the grey completely yet 😅❤

As someone who colors my hair often, if a stylist told me that something doesn’t suit me or can’t be done as I would like, I trust that person to know what they are talking about. They had to go to school and get a degree to work with my hair. They have to know what chemicals to use, how long to process the color, and they also learned how to treat and color natural and chemically colored or treated hair. I wouldn’t want a stylist to rush any job or not know what they are doing because things like this can happen. Bleaching is a very sensitive process. I once went to a salon with black box-dyed hair and wanted a color change. The stylist told me it would take multiple processes and still might not turn out the way I wanted it. I wasn’t happy, but I listened to her. I took the time and was glad I did. Turns out, I was allergic to one of the bleach products. Had I done my whole head, who knows how it would have turned out. Please listen to your stylist!

The stylist should have explained more as to why it was impossible for her hair specifically. Plus he saw her as a friend and not just a client so he caved. She seems like a real b*tch but he is the professional and he lied about the 50 minutes. I think lowering the first and second amount was the judge being like she is at fault to a small extent. However the stylist did cave so mostly his fault and we know she did suffer. Some of her scalp will never be the same. Probably never have hair there again and might be overly sensitive to products it was not sensitive to before.

@@nightbird3839Yeah, but he was also being money hungry. First he wound up her anxiety by saying that she won't get a new man while looking like this, while he's the one that's been doing her hair for all these years!!! And for what? To push her to get extra services and pay more money. Then he agreed to do the job in one sitting, even though he knew better than that. And then, when the damage was done, he tried to peddle products to her for 1500+ dollars. He clearly didn't have her best interests in mind, he only cared about getting more money from her. So I'd say it's karma.

exactly. my natural hair colour is a level 7 blonde so pretty light already but my hairdresser still didn't want to bleach it to platinum bc i have very thin and fine hair.. on the other hand, my brother with darker hair (light brownish) had no issues with getting it bleached in the same salon, bc he has very thick and strong hair. every hair is different
@Emidoki
@Emidoki 8 ай бұрын
I am so blessed to have my hairdresser as a friend, she was worried when I went in for bleaching because it's different for everybody but fortunately my hair responses the best way it possibly can for bleach. My individual hairs may be on the thin side but I have a lot of curly hair, I never feel the burning of the bleach or anything at all but she only needs to use 10vol on me; I would never recommend anything higher than 20vol. I keep going to platinum because my head can handle it and it helps with my easily greasy roots so now I can wash my hair less. If I didn't have naturally dark blonde hair, I would never lighten my hair all over, I would do some streaks maybe but there is so much you can do with darker hair too, you don't need to be blonde all over. When people with dark hair fry their beautiful hair to be that light, it doesn't look good, you look your best when your hair is most healthy. I used to be so jealous of people with their shiny dark hair, no matter how healthy I could never get it to shine like that due to the colour. Embrace what you have and make it work for you, not how it works for someone else. Also consider your medications, certain meds can even turn your hair pink if you try to bleach it. My hair is as healthy as its ever been but it's only because it's done correctly and I can keep up with the maintenance using purple shampoo, deep conditioners and limited heat.

Your videos are really valuable for people. The average person like me has no idea how to do any of this properly. You give so much information and education so that we don't make mistakes lile this. We have to be realistic and understand the actual time and processes that go into it. I have virgin dark brown hair, and while i enjoy the idea of different colours, it really makes me pause and think about it. Like youve said before, wigs are great, theres even clip in colours, hair chalk and all sorts that don't perminantly effect the hair.

I have to add, they’re not always actors. My father had a client who was on one of those shows about 20 years ago. Unlike normal civil cases, there was a pot of money put up by the show and any damages were awarded from the pot. Any money left after paying out was then split between the plaintiff and the defendant. They were the actual claimants, however.

I don't see any problem with that. What worries me is the lack of concern for the safety of the client, the lack of proper allergy testing, the fact nobody asked how long she locked herself in the bathroom or even if she had a single or double processing done. I know it's a TV show but there's just way too many elements out of the question. A stylist could have done everything correctly but if the client went into Karen mode saying her phone call was important, ran to the bathroom and stayed there talking for half hour, that transfers all the burden of proving the stylist did anything wrong. Of course, I don't know the regulations applicable in the United States on top of instructions provided by the manufacturer for each product.

A simple strand test would’ve prevented all this. He could’ve then shown the customer what would’ve happened by doing it as quick as she insisted. It would’ve shown the hair disintegrating. The fact all her friends “had it done in one sitting” is irrelevant, there are soooo many factors, ( hair porosity, Virgin hair or any other dyein the hair & how dark the hair is for example), that have to be taken into account as everybody’s hair is different.

Doesn't matter this is a reenactment...if she is as burned as the actress is portraying she will never grow her hair back. No amount of $$ will take away the pain/suffering she will endure for the rest of her life. Even wigs will hurt, and she won't ever look like she shaved her head on purpose. Nothing but compassion for this woman.

I have black/dark brown hair and I went platinum blonde once many years ago and I will never understand how they did it, they actually did it in 2 long sessions and it looked great and wasn't falling out but it was so high maintenance and impossible to touch up basically. Bleach is one of those things, for some reason it sounds simple but it's so tempermental and can go so wrong so easily. If you have black hair, just let the platinum go, the amount of effort is too much and you're like 1 minute away from all your hair falling out.

Wow! They surely made it much simpler on the TV version, but I can't believe they'd go over the fact she locked herself in the bathroom in a real case without investigating for how long etc. I guess you better have cameras on your salon recording everything at all times or you can just go bankrupt or even face criminal charges against you, while you're working as a hair stylist. I know that some stylists will make their clients sign a contract before performing any chemical service but it does not seem to be something common. Or doing strand tests on new clients / new procedures for old clients. Ideally you do at least an allergy test per application as you never know if something changed or if the person used any potentially reactive product etc. About scalp burning I am sorry to say that it's always assumed it's normal not only with bleach but also with color application. And it's also common practice to do more than one bleach on a single day, as people don't like to walk without their desired color. Even if most people survive it's surely risky, unpleasant and not ideal. It would be always optimal to wait at least 72 hours between sessions, ideally a week or even longer, if it's an older patient or if it's winter, for example. And you can't also wash your hair for at least 24 hours or use any product before each application. Sadly, when you tell people what they should do for their own safety (and better results) many will just drop you and go to a less responsible professional. That puts pressure on the entire industry and normalize bad behavior. I hope things are better here in Europe.

What I find insane is the amount of people in the comments who do not understand that these can be REAL CASES* however NO.. this isn’t a “REAL HEARING” with the actual defendant and plaintiff. So this is a reenactment of a real case. But this absolutely is based on a true case! (They normally are, and at times can be very over dramatized etc as it’s for TV!!) Edit to add- However, I want to make very clear this is ABSOLUTELY possible to get SEVERE chemical burns from bleach and other products, etc. so even though yes this is makeup, the photographs of the woman before and after are REAL! The actor and the actress look similar but obviously are two different people, but YES, bleach actually caused those injuries!!

All he needed to say to her was, "Sorry lovely, I can't get it to that colour in one session without wrecking your hair, so let's do the first step to getting there. But if you want to take a risk somewhere else that is entirely up to you and I would not be offended, but I would strongly advise against it." It is HIS responsibility to protect her and also his own reputation. He can't pull the old, 'She made me do it." He's not a child. He should suck this up and learn something from it. She will be paying for it for the rest of her life, possibly.

I feel like I should show this video to clients when they come in wanting the impossible. I have stood my ground with clients telling them that it cannot be achieved quick. One of those instances was when I had a girl come in who was 2 weeks out from her prom and she wanted icy blonde. I knew her hair history (habitual color changes), I explained the cons to her. She then tried to convince me that she knew her hair and that it could take it. I was firm and told her no that I would not do it nor would I tell her how to (she tried to). Some stylists would say "Yeah, sure we can do that!" With money being the motivator. I told her it wasn't about the money for me I cared about the integrity of her hair and whatever she would've walked out with would've had my name attached to it. I know it crushed her dreams but in the end I hope she looks back on this and appreciates my honesty. Great Job Hair Budda!! You speak all of our professional minds with your videos.

Regardless of how this happens it can only bring about a better color strategy for those of us who still remain with heads.. with hair.. we are absolutely responsible for our hair choices.
