My husband was diagnosed with Grade 4 Glioblastoma while we were in England visiting family and friends. Our flight home for treatment was the worse trip home ever. When things are taken out of our hands we we have to be so flexible. It is now 11 months later. My husband is bedridden and in Palliative Care. I wish all I had to worry about was not making it for dinner. I do enjoy your adventures! You do make me laugh and I thank you for that. I am on my 4th dining table at home. I finally settled on a round one that seats 10 so my entire family can eat ,and see each other . I love the conversation across the table . This table took us three trips to get it and the chairs home. I just wish my husband could enjoy sitting at it and laughing with our family!

Amaury, is known in South Africa as a joiner, a very specialised profession and a very beautiful one. My late uncle was a joiner and he made me the most beautiful would tray that I will cherish until I die. I also made me a small wooden box for my rare collection of silver spoons from all over Europe. I wish I had learned from him the art. Amaury panelling is a real work of art and I would not mind to have a piece framed in my house. I am a romantic at heart 😊

I understand your GPS pain. Writing to you from the "land of the great google" we generally pick a destination that we know is not on the route it's choosing, for example a closer town on route we do want. Then when we arrive there, we reroute to our final destination. Sometimes, however, you can just tap on the map route you do want and it will reroute. Doesn't always always work, which is why I suggested the other idea first. Bon chance! Glad you got home in one piece.

It is understandable that they didn’t want to disappoint the guests. Dinner with the guests is also an appointment, a show and a meeting. It is rude to turn up late. When you buy a ticket for a play or an opera you are disappointed if the two main actors are not showing up.

In the US RV owners use the same product made by Garmin that you use for large vehicles so you don’t get sent through tunnels and roads that are not made for the vehicle. My son in law bought an RV and decided to go through Atlanta , Georgia to get to Chattanooga , Tennessee . Luckily there was some road construction and they didn’t get to the tunnel in bumper to bumper traffic . They bought that gps and learned where not to drive.

That was an endurance event, but perhaps not quite as bad as getting stuck in China, alone, with no translations? I'm glad you got back in time for main and dessert. And that Philip noticed the tunnel height in time.

Home in time and a commercial! Brava!!! I love how positive you both are even trying to have fun during the delay...... I pray i can find an easy going partner like that. I sadly have always picked angry narcissists all my life. But now at 51 I know exactly what i want and I'll be alone until i find him or stay alone. I love your relationship!! ❤❤❤

If I was a guest at your chateau being fed dinner at 9:00 pm I would have filled up on wine and been too drunk to care if you or Phillip were there at all 😜

If you go to Europe they eat dinner late. For example in Spain you eat dinner at 10:00 pm .. in Italy they have the big meal at noon and eat a light dinner 🍽️

@maria3845 dinners at the chateau are at a time they have chosen and the guests know this. I think it was wrong to delay the guests. They could have joined them after dinner for drinks.

Steph, I think time has eased the memory of how awful your truly worst trip was...the one where you didn't know if you'd make it home from Vietnam before France's Border's closed when Covid suddenly hit...

Why do you go through Paris? We pass Limoges by going Rouen, Chartres and pick up the autoroute north of Orleans. Much less stress.
