This one dude trolled the forums for like an hour, but he really did put it best: "Most of the appeal to a significant portion of the people who play these servers is the "fresh start"/"day 1" feeling. When homeboy who got Lucky and is boxing unrest MR by the time you're even allowed to get in to the game and create a character..... Yeah that's kinda understandably upsetting."

That's a good point. 2 boxer set ups were beating out the individual players who wanted to get in. That is definitely upsetting.

They definitely mismanaged how big calling a server Aradune would be, this seems to be the busiest I’ve ever seen EQ, check the pick list in places like Crushbone, Befallen or Unrest, it’s pretty wild. But yes, this was such a rough launch

This launch and Mangler launch were smooth compared to the launch of Luclin back in 2001. There were folks unable to play for WEEKS. Granted, with the improved tech we have now, this shouldn't happen in this day and age.

Thanks for sharing that. Yeah this is the worst server launch I can remember but some guildies were saying it was actually worse back in era. That is a nightmare. Multiple weeks?

Shouldn't but let's be honest it happens a LOT with many other much newer titles. Look at the launch of Atlas. Even WoW expansions have been disasters... And let's not forget Diablo 3's launch. This was a minor hiccup compared some of the major ways other companies have dropped the ball in recent past.

Ragefire was a far worse launch but ended up implementing the Q system, AFK kicker, and also the pick zones.

Servers seems to have been sorted out now. Logged in first time twice today. I gave up on aradune for now, going to let the server cook for a few months before I return. Loved playing my chanter and the community seems pretty cool. I have noticed a few training asshats here and there, but they have been reported and all have been banned. Just late note, HALAS is a really bad place to start. Love the barb shammy, hate the everfrost peaks ;(

I haven't been playing on TLP's as long as some (my first was Ragefire) but I agree, Aradune was without a doubt the WORST TLP launch yet. Nevermind the login issues which they all have had to some extreme or another, when you actually get INTO the server you were rolling the dice EVERYTIME you zoned. Sometimes you'd zone properly after like 3-5min and other times your client would lockup then GG, good luck spending another few hours getting into the server and fighting the que. Another common issue that persisted on Aradune was just bad performance, desyncs and lag that lasted for weeks after launch which I found shocking as well since these were brand new problems that never happened on previous TLPs to my knowledge. Being bored and looking over these older TLP videos I hope they learn there lesson with the new Mischief server and make it less painful with its launch--I know they are talking about an overflow server which is a step in the right direction. I hope the 2020 TLP's didn't leave a bad enough taste in peoples mouths to neglect trying this new one because with the interesting ruleset it looks like it will be a fun time.

Aradune was the worst server release ever. What a travesty. So sad to have Aradune's name on that one. He deserved better. :(

I quit EQ after 20+ years on p99 and Tribunal on live... Daybreak has no leadership and no direction. They're just getting their sub money. Darkpaw is even worse. EQ is dying. The 36 hour patch a few days ago followed by another 6hr patch really did it in for me. This game isn't worth devoting any time into anymore.

Still not in game. Came back after years and was really hoping to be playing on Aradune by now. It is slightly funny (although annoying due to impatience) that i remember server launches back in the day and it was the same thing, but i agree this may have been one of the worst I have seen.

That night I got to play for a few hours, then the next day a 2hr queue, and same the next. It has luckily been nice weather so I wasn't going to sit inside and watch a queue for hours to finally get to play so i haven't been back on since. As of now I lost all my excitement of playing this again.

Yeah they're pretty short staffed. I don't want to be too hard DBG to be honest. I want them to do good. I just wish they could have planned better cause every TLP server opening is like this.

Really bad. If I get thrown due to DC or crash, it then takes 35mins to a few hours to get back in. Game runs well, just hate the terrible exp gains.

Could not get on the new one at all so player Mangler and then All the servers crash and are locked. I can understand the new server crashing but all of them down for hours at a time.

It looks to me like these guys are under corporate sabotage. This has been a recurring problem so much now that I've started noticing patterns. Usually there's some sort of botting involved and people there to throw fuel on the fire in chats trickled with racism to get a bigger reaction (trolling). You should know; There's high value in pissing people off and denying you things you enjoy. I don't blame Darkpaw. I think it's an attack of some sorts on any mmorpg with a launch that can be fucked with. There are groups that are paid aloooooot of money to do this sort of thing.

worst launch in history? yea not quite when kunark dropped it was WAYYYY worse. people are just fucking impatient, be glad that they even came out with more servers. the whole point was that the servers were brought out in memory of Brad. be fucking patient... people want them to fix it want them to answer the forums, everyones problem is they want it now now now. maybe next tlp they could just give us full best in slot gear for classic and every other expansion -_- smh

You guys are a bunch of noobs. This release is no where near the worst release in EQ history. The second that you said JIFF instead of GIF I knew that you had never experienced the full might of a scorned internet... Bots and trolling are common place on bad releases in game discords. Problem is DPG and Dreamweaver are noobs with Discord moderation. It could have easily been dealt with using just bots alone or setting up a time requirement that you have been a member on the server for a set time of an hour or more before being able to chat. If you think that a measely downtime of less than 24 hours is the worst release in EQ history you'd be very wrong. SoV or even Luclin was wayyyy worst.

There we ones that lasted days with server problems/crashes lasting weeks. If I had to say anything at all I'd commend them for the massive improvement despite ancient programming, etc. The discord moderation could be better but from what I heard from a dev was that they had planned on making some changes to the discord prior to the release and the schedule was actually stepped up and there was not enough time to do it. However some of the changes they will be making to discord / moderation have been moved to the top of the list for obvious reasons. Take a look at the changes that Dreamweaver made even just over night. Multiple new bots, as well as some other changes to the discord, and much more is coming soon to prevent this kind of craziness from happening again. Change is I'm the air!

Btw to give you some background my first character was made pre-kunark. The character I have played for over 15 years was created in 2002... I've seen some crazy shit happen with EQ. Expansions, patches, crashes, the crazy security breach that caused SOE servers to go down for over 20 days that happened years ago.
