I remember one episode where one of the models first came in with short hair. From her old photos, you could tell she'd cut it before the show. I knew she was thinking that Tyra always wanted to do the opposite and that the show would surely do big, long hair extensions. But they didn't. Tyra told the girl that they were going to take her even shorter. Almost a buzz cut. That girl's face when they said that... It looked awful!

There were so much worse makeovers, and I didn't even watch all the seasons, not even half. How about gorgeous girl with natural auburn locks turned into straight yellow haired blonde with horrible yellow eyebrows? Or natural redhead with absolute amazing shades of gold and red in hair turned bottle bright red? Or the first cycle winner who had balding spots probably forever after horrible weaves? Or girl with alopecia who was forced to shave head although she was clearly quite uncomfortable with it? Or the girl who had her hair colored highlight green? Or natural blonde beauty who got "mullet" cut like the worst I have ever seen? Or... there were so many more.

I liked what she said about it being disrespectful to approach someone walking like that and sticking to her own values rather than doing it because Tyra knows best. I don't think many 19 year old aspiring models would have had the courage of their convictions in the same situation. Like the one who allowed them to file part of her teeth off?? Her teeth looked perfect before. That is absolutely crazy. It's so funny how I watched this as a kid and saw a bunch of crying brats who wouldn't take Tyra's expert advice about their looks. I'm older now and I see a bunch of manipulated, very young women who are being pressured to show emotion on purpose for ratings. I used to watch this show and now that I’m older I am shocked that I didn’t realize how messed up some of these makeovers actually were. If someone is accepted on the show for being their self, why force change on them? It should be optional, the most shocking to me was the chiseled gap they gave one model and the other model who had a natural gap was criticized for it. Hair can be changed, but teeth are permanent.

I think it is disgustingly disrespectful to the models what they did, and they let some individuals make a rash decision to decide and change a persons look. The poor girl who was in severe pain having to go through all that hair dying, I thought she should have sued them after the show!. I think Tyra’s attitude is disgusting towards the models and I am glad all of those that left have gone back to their original looks and hair cuts/lengths as it can be soul destroying for that individual. God knows why they think their opinion matters compared to the model, after all those models got into the competition with their natural looks, not the bleached blonde fried hair!.
