When talking about the pyramid scheme, she actually did mention that the money flows upwards - which is exact same thing in MLM's, and it's one of the most important (and possibly least talked about) aspects in which MLM's differ from "regular" businesses. Yes, the guys in the bottom start the flow of money which then goes UP. Why are we not talking about this more? Saying that the huns are the customers is cool, but I don't think we have the data to prove it. However, it is a fact that money flows upwards - JUST LIKE IN PYRAMID SCHEMES and not in regular jobs.
@snooganslestat20303 жыл бұрын
There is data that shows the huns are the customers. When you see the companies financial(tax) statement you see their revenue & profit. Combined with statements showing how many people sign up etc it shows how much the company makes off new recruits(by way of starter packs etc). This shows how much came in from people in the company and compared with the revenue it shows 80+% of money is from new recruits/huns on autoships.

"Other places recruit..." Uh, yeah, that's true. When I was working, I was responsible for hiring staff for my small office - one admin, two professional positions. HR collected resumes, then I'd review them and select people to interview, the top candidate/s would go on to a second interview, and so forth - pretty normal process. The thing that is different from MLMs is that we didn't have to continue to recruit people! In 20 years, we had three admins for long blocks of time (interspersed with a few temps) and the people in the professional positions would stay for at least two years, and a couple stayed for 5 - 10+ years. (Anyone who left moved on to a job with more pay & responsibilities and I was happy for them! A couple of them went on to get PhDs in our field and now have even better jobs & more interesting responsibilities.) I can't imagine having to recruit, recruit, recruit as much as you have to do in an MLM - that stuff is exhausting!

Omg it is so difficult to listen to these huns.... In a regular job, your salary is NOT dependent upon the work of the people beneath you (regardless of whether you brought them to the company or not). Everyone receives a set income that is independent from the income or the other employees. I don't understand why this is so hard for them to understand. We can even use the car buying example... I want to go buy a car. The salesman shows me all the cars, we talk, I end up buying whatever car I like and then I leave. OR, let's say we talk and the salesman thinks I would be a good car salesman so I join the car dealer. He might get a one time referral bonus for bringing me on, but then he keeps selling cars to people and I sell cars to people, but he does NOT get a commission from MY sales. This isn't rocket science.

Anytime somebody claims that their for-profit company's main goal is the Greater Good, that's a huge red flag. Monat doesn't give a shit about helping people, and neither does any profit-generating company. Yeah, that can be a nice side effect, or part of a holistic vision, but money is always the main motivator. I love my job, and I do think it can help to make people's day better, and make literature more accessible. But ultimately, it's a job, and I do it to make money. If I wasn't being paid, I definitely wouldn't be spending 8 hours a day working at this.

It's so crazy. Her description of the 'pyramid scheme' fits an mlm much closer, because in an *actual* no product pyramid scheme, no one 'takes a cut'. You just try to rank up by recruiting people under you, and getting to the top. Once you're at the top, you receive all the investments of people below you at once. But the person at the top doesn't stay there. Once they've cashed in, the people under them become the top person instead, and the pyramid splits in two. So basically, in an mlm, the same dynamics are at play, except on top of that, the up lines just endlessly rank up and don't leave to let people below them have their spot, and the uplines ALSO cash in on a cut of each investment. Which is probably why mlms are even less profitable than pyramid schemes.

how did the first woman hold the point in her hand and still couldn't see it? Also found her words choices so interesting. When she was talking about what recruited MLMers invest in- their time, their efforts, their hard work- she was so close to saying 'their money'. Cause, as she mentioned very briefly, the starter kit does cost money. But if she said 'their money/starter kit fee' whatever- that suddenly makes it thiiis much closer to a pyramid scheme. She was talking herself in circles that one. But I always find it fascinating to see how they talk and what words they use a lot vs. avoid at all cost. Would love to have a IGTV video to dissect one day (the English major is coming out lol)

2 years late to this but I just love how mlm huns will forever ignore the updated version of a pyramid scheme yet say that we use outdated studies for the study that says 90% of people in MLM’s don’t make money 😭 the difference is they are just ignoring the long ago updated definition while the study can be corroborated with their income disclosure statements 😭

I was shocked when I visited another state years ago that had a weed delivery service, but it was like, under the guise of purchasing clothes, and the weed was a "free gift." So like, I bought a hoodie, and they brought me a hoodie and some weed. Because it wasn't legal to sell weed, but it was fine to give it with a hoodie. LOL So yeah, whatever the product you're selling is, doesn't take away from the recruitment aspect of the business. This is why there are SO MANY videos defending their business model. I'm curious about the ratio of videos showing the actual product vs. defense of MLM. You don't see nurses making videos defending their jobs like this. Or teachers, or lawyers, or garbage men, etc.

Tell me you’ve never been a part of the corporate workforce without telling me! A job posting and application is recruiting? 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡

Omg. That last girl thinks Recruit = Hire. Ummm…. Ma’am no. And real estate is not the same as mlm. The real estate agent that sells you your house doesn’t try to recruit you to become a real estate agent. What are these people smoking???

No one is mad at MLM reps for legitimately selling products. We are mad because they ultimately make money off recruiting and taking advantage of people, as opposed to actually selling something.

Okay just want to clarify something, I was in an MLM for two years, and the one I was in, you could surpass your upline AND you only made money from your downline if they were a lower level than you,. You also made money from same level downline if you had a certain amount of personal volume ( either personal purchases or sales).

I don't think this girl is hearing herself lol. Wow. "You get paid for helping people, training them etc" ya how much? You could invest time and energy into a person in an mlm and make no money. In a 9-5 you spend time doing your job and you know exactly what your getting paid and it's a lot more than 0
