I use Jangling Automaton in my General Marhualt Elsdragon deck. It uses lure effects to force as many blockers as possible, and with the Automaton the enemy can't avoid being forced to block by keeping their creatures blocked.

"I don't know what Wither is" That's because not very long after Wither was introduced, they came out with Infect, which was Wither but better because plus Poison counters. For the first set or two infect added extra cost on creatures on creatures, and now there are just cheap infect creatures. When there are 1 mana infect creatures, Wither is kind of obsolete. It's still a powerful mechanic, but why build Wither when Infect exists, does the same thing + more, is low mana cost? It's by no means bad though, and there are some great combos that came out of the Lorwyn/Shadowmoore blocks that let you just move counters when creatures died and if they died with a counter steal them, making a Wither deck not only kill all creatures all the time, and then steal them, and if they ain't dead yet Kulwrath Knight makes it so creatures with counters can't attack or block. The Wither archetype was super strong and was very effective at being anti-creature. Of course you can just swap most of that out for Infect now days.

That Firedrinker Satyr sucks, it has firebreathing but for more mana, also it hurts you. The only time you would even think of using this, is if you have some weird combo that the self damage is useful for.

we tried to fight with Thallid armies from Fallen Empire. It was sad. Try to win with Walls and saproling tokens. Games turned into stalemates.

Don't Karn and Brushwagg put combat damage on the stack before becoming walls within their original ruling?

Pre-6th Edition rules were wild, but as far as I remember the ability would always have triggered in the assign blockers step and resolve before moving on to the combat damage step. That's definitely the intention with Karn, that's a clever bit of flavour design as he was a pacifist so won't harm another creature.

Hellcarver Demon, it sucks, and not defending it, but Undying and Persist creatures come back even after you sacrifice them. So you could potentially ... keep a few while destroying all your lands.... ok it sucks but you can save your creatures.

How is Persecutor bad in combat? It's fantastic before the final blow and has cool blocking ability (big flying creatures like Delver or smallish Murktide)

The number of people confusing landwalk with landhome (which is what Slipstream Serpent would be labeled e.g. islandhome in earlier sets) makes me feel way too old.
