His defensive style wasn't to lock down his man or secure the paint which leads to a nice stat total but be aware of where everyone is on the court and fill in any potential gaps, the Knicks were very aggressive on defense simply because they knew that if they made a mistake Chandler would be there to cover for them. Fun fact: MVP just doesn't include stats, but it also includes leadership. D Rose led his team to a 60-win 1st seed in back-to-back years. If someone like Chris Paul or Giannis or Tatum was so good, why didn't they win the MVP? Maybe because of circumstances. Jokic had no Murray or MPJ, and still led the Nuggets to the playoffs, while Giannis, Tatum, and Paul were expected to make it
@nonamewillbegiven2 жыл бұрын
The lockout season in 2012 didnt include 60 wins and D Rose missed a good portion of that season and Giannis did win MVP. 2 actually

mvp is for regular season, in the regular season Rose averaged 25 points, 7.7 assists and 4.1 rebounds and bill Walton 18.9 points, 13.2 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 2.2 blocks and just look at the difference between the seasons: Bulls season 2009-2010 (1 year before derrick's mvp): 41-41. 2010-2011 (mvp season): 62-20 best record in NBA. Blazers season 1 year before Walton's mvp: 49-33. Blazers season (Walton's mvp) : 58-24

@joceja23 Bill Walton's career was spoilt by several injuries: he won a second title with the Celtics in 1986, 9 years after the one with Portland, as a replacement for Robert Parish

Exactly, Bill Walton only played 58 games to win MVP. He should been disqualified.

The fact that he said Derrick roses mvp was the worst of all time shows me a lot abt this man’s basketball knowledge. Rose WAS the bulls back then. At age 22 he was the entire franchise, he played all games that season on all those averages and they definitely would not have even been a playoff team without him. The amount of disrespect.

In the 2015 Finals, LeBron scored 35.8 per game, but he only shot 40% from the field and put up a 47.7% TS%. As a defense, you live with that output every time. GSW loses that series if Iguodala held LeBron to league-average TS%. As for what else Iguodala did that series, he was the team's second-leading scorer, as Klay Thompson was not particularly good. Iguodala had better FG%, 3PT%, and TS% than Curry while defending LeBron. He had a positive +/- every game that series, and GSW won three in a row to close the series after inserting Iggy into the starting lineup. Nobody stepped up his game better than Iguodala did, and while that doesn't mean he became GSW's most important player (it's always Curry), it's a real impact toward winning. Are you saying Glen Rice was the worst player to win All-Star MVP, or his performance was the worst to win All-Star MVP? He put up 24 points in a quarter, setting an All-Star Game record. That's why he won. And I'd argue he's also not the worst player to win All-Star MVP, either. I might give that to Randy Smith. And I'd take Derrick Coleman over a guy like DeAndre Jordan who actually got FIRST TEAM ALL-NBA. He has as many First-Team All-NBA selections as Patrick Ewing. Let that sink in for a moment.

Worst MVP ever is EASILY Wes Unseld in 1968. The dude averaged 13.8 PPG, 18.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists for a team that had 2 other All-Stars and still got swept in the 1st round.

On Contested Shots in the 2015 Finals, Iggy held LeBron to 11-46 (24%) shooting. He also forced LeBron to turn the ball over just as much as he sent him to the line (10.8% of the time when defending him). Iggy was literally their spark plug after going down 2-1.
@Prophet_-jq1lv2 жыл бұрын
Still doesn't deserve a finals mvp. If it does, then why didn't Jason Terry win fmvp in 2011 for his defense on LeBron? People always wanna chalk that season up to "oh well they didn't know how to play well together yet, they didn't have chemistry" BULLSHIT.
@superzayman12 жыл бұрын
@@Prophet_-jq1lv Makes no sense. Dirk was clearly the best player in that series. In 2015 Curry was not playing like MVP Curry due to the physicality of Dellavedova on defense. When Iggy became a starter in the finals they were down 2-1 and he became the spark plug for the Dubs and they went on to win 4-2. If you watched that series you knew Iggy was winning FMVP bc he was the piece that turned them around

Derrick Rose was 22 in his 3rd year, he was the ONLY all star on his team and led the Bulls to the best record in the ENTIRE NBA. BTW, the Bulls went 41-41 in Derricks first 2 seasons. Now back to 2010-2011, If y’all don’t remember. Lebron finished 3rd in MVP voting behind Dwight Howard. So if Rose didn’t deserve it, Howard did. Back to Rose v James. Lebron did have the better stats, 27 7 7 50% vs 25 7 4 44%, but Lebron also had 2 top 10 players on his team; 25ppg D Wade & Bosh avg 18ppg. Meanwhile 17ppg Boozer missed the first 20games and Noah who only avg 11pts and 10reb missed 40 games. 17ppg Luol Deng didn’t make the allstar team and the Bulls starting SG was 4ppg Keith Bogans. I’m going to say again, He was the only all star on his team at 22 and had the best record not just the Eastern Conference but the best in the ENTIRE NBA, at 22!!!!his 3rd year!! A NBA filled with: Spurs- 3 all stars Heat- 3 all stars OKC- 2 all stars Celtics- 4 all stars Lakers-2 all stars Imagine if 4th year Brandon Ingram won MVP being the only all star while Zion/Lonzo missed 20-40 games and led them to the best record in the whole NBA. an NBA filled with: Lakers-2 all stars Clippers- 2 all stars Bucks- 2 all stars 76ers- 2 all stars Utah- 2 all stars Lastly, how does Lebron deserves the 2011 MVP when he said himself it belongs to Rose. www.espn.com/nba/truehoop/miamiheat/news/story?id=6274778

He was the youngest player on his team with all the responsibility. Played both ends of the floor and played 81 games. Worst MVP would have to be someone in the 70s or 80s where the competition is far less.
