Burmistrov did have something in common with Datsyuk as they both started out on the third line. Datsyuk was a few years older though and also had a future hall of famer on his line. The line was Boyd Devereaix, Pavel Datsyuk and Brett Hull. Many goals were scored. The line prompted Hull to give the name "Two Kids and an Old Goat" to the line. That Detroit team was so stacked that it wasn't unusual to find a future HoF on the third line.

My all-time favourite scouting quote was about Victor Kozlov; “This kid is Mario Lemieux” 😂
@Jeneric813 жыл бұрын
As silly as that statement is, I do kinda see why a scout would at least see some superficial similarities, Kozlov was also a tall right shooter who had that floating skate style and he did have some puck handling skill.

Oilers fan here. 1. I was hopeful Larsson could find it after we got him for Hall. But looking back, aside from his seeming draft year regression, I think a combination of a real hardass coach who gave so little leash in Jersey, and getting rocked by PK Subban, really shook his confidence in terms of taking his puck moving to the next level. So he retreated into a kind of stay at home comfort zone. 2. Yakupov, too immature and not bright enough to understand that he needed to transition his skill set into a system and not a one man globetrotters circus. Having Dallas Eakins (*gawd* the nightmares) didn't help either.

The 8 second video clip of Reinhart they showed when the Islanders drafted him clearly showed SKATING to be a problem. Skating is not just about straight line speed. On defense you need lateral movement and transition both forward and backwards which Reinhart clearly had issues with. TOO bad since if the Islanders drafted any other defensemen from that draft they would have had a solid player. Watching Dumba's highlight reel of skating the puck end to end when he was picked next had me throwing the remote at the TV.
