@@gzwelmo Rich Peverley at the time was the best value player in hockey. Plus Boston was cap dumping to be able to get Thomas Kaberle. It wasn't at all a bad trade at the time. And it still took Wheeler several more season to really become elite. In the mean time with Perverley the Bruins won a stanley cup and a different year Pev's was the Bruins leading scorer in the playoffs. So that's a trade you do all day every day.

That was an insane turn of events bc O’Reilly came to the blues and was their only consistent player for the first half of the year, but they were at the bottom of the standings. Hated that trade, as a French Canadian, I feel like Moslon thinks having “quebecois” players is all we think about. Puck moving defensemen like Sergachev don’t come by often. I don’t hate Drouin. He is a great playmaker but Markov’s role was never replaced when he left Montreal and that hurt a lot. I’m pretty sure that was not Bergevin’s trade but that was Molson’s to find a “quebecois de service” to please French Canadians. It’s all speculation but that’s my take. And Molson has a reputation of getting too involved even though he denies it.

The Tomas Tatar trade to Vegas. Vegas gave up a first, second & third pick over 3 years to Detroit. Tatar doesn’t work out, so Vegas trades Tatar, Suzuki, a second round pick and retained some of Tatar’s salary to get Pacioretti. So that trade in the end cost VGK a 1st, two 2nd round picks, a 3rd round pick, Tatar, Suzuki & some cap space to get Pacioretti. Then Suzuki & Co. eliminate Pacioretti’s Golden Knights.

"Taylor Hall did Taylor Hall things" If that was true Hall would be a markedly different player than he is. He's had like two great offensive years in his career and otherwise has been a good offensive player who doesn't do anything else. And for a big guy he's weak on the puck. There are reasons why this guys bounced around a bunch. And it's not because he's an amazing player. It's because he's an expensive 1 dimensional guy that you have to build around for him to be effective.

How about the Feb 26 2016 trade between Habs and Blackhawks were Chicago sent Danault and a second to Montreal for Dale Weise and Tomas Fleischmann. Oh by the way the 2nd round pick ended up being Alexander Romanov.

I like how you never mentioned once about any contract status, impending free agency, and salary cap issues for any of the trades mentioned.

While I’m at it I’ll also talk about what the locker room was like, any personal issues resulting in the trade, what they are for breakfast and what shoes they wore that night… Give me a break man. These are made for fun. And most ppl will know most of that information…

@@idontgivetkachuk 1. Locker room issues can be a factor for signings or tradings. Look at the Evander Kane "locker room cancer" issue right now. Ignoring this, I could see you saying something along the lines of "Kane is a legit 30-goal scorer, but yet 31 other teams passed on him, making him the biggest GM blunder of the 2021-22 season" when in fact he's worthless. 2. What caused my comment was the fact that your speech came off as professional reporting. You sounded like you know what you're talking about, and you sounded trustworthy. But I know that you're omitting a lot of important information, thus becoming misleading journalism. That's why I had to point that out to other people. If you sounded like Gilbert Godfried, I wouldn't have said anything. 3. Fact of the matter is, contract status, impending free agency, and salary cap are some of the most important factors that determine the trade value of a given player. For example, the fact that both Jeff Carter and Jacob Voracek with RFAs when the trade happened was an important factor, as their new salary cap hits were undetermined at that time. Voracek ended up signing for just one year, meaning that, at that time, the Flyers had no idea that they wouldn't lose him after that season.

My first jersey was an O'Reilly avalanche jersey. If I remember correctly (I was fairly young), he wanted to be traded for money reasons. Even though the jersey no longer fits me, I plan tov at least bring it to an avalanche-blues game.

So now that Weber is officially/unofficially retired i wonder how this trade will look? No doubt Weber was still the better pick but PK is still playing, and other than a drop off of offensive skill is still a valuable defensemen. His off ice tangibles have to be factored in as well. Sad to see Weber go. Another tank goes down.

Subban is playing like a 3rd pair. I'd say each team won the trade because both Nashville & Montreal went to the finals and lost. However post trade, Weber was a much better player. Weber was a better defenseman for his entire career including the year Subban won the Norris. So from that perspective, Montreal def did not lose

@@christophersuchy3632 your right of course. Subban just doesn’t seem to have it anymore. I gave him the benefit of the doubt in the hope he might rebound this season but alas he seems to be further regressing.

@@muchopreguntas He was never a high "IQ" player. It was always athleticism and a nasty edge that carried him. Sure he was good but I think his injuries have take their toll. I just don't think he can play fast enough anymore & he doesn't have the IQ to make up the difference. At least from what I see
