Yeah, hockey is very boring compared to how it was. Very few hits even, even Canadians play the European game now.

Tinted visors got banned cause the refs can’t see your eyes for concussion protocol. Was not cause Martin Brodeur bitched. He bitched about everything . Great goalie but a fuckin baby

My favorite draft day story as a Panthers fan brings us to the 2013 NHL draft. Panthers are sitting at number 2 on the board and the first pick was very much going to be Nathan MacKinnon. The Panthers were in desperate need of a defenseman or a center. On the board still were Seth Jones, Jonathan Drouin, Sean Monahan and Darnell Nurse. The Panthers opted to take a center from Finland instead, shocking a lot of analysts and talking heads all over. Don Cherry himself blasted the pick, saying that we passed up legit talent to draft a kid from and I quote “the ice follies” in Finland and stated that the organization continued to be a laughing stock of the league. That player was Aleksander Barkov btw.

I remember all the comments about the jets drafting scheifele instead of couturier. Especially when scheif went back to junior one extra year. Now hes one of the top scorers from that draft. Maybe only kucherov has more

Lange skates, the guys that use to make skis and aluminum tennis rackets. Lange tested the waters in mid-70’s with a plastic skate, with a hinge at the ankle and the old tubular blade. They weighed a ton and the back broke above the hinge. Needless to say they didn’t get anywhere, I never saw anyone else wearing a pair and I went back to Bauer after a year.

Absolutely great footage 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I was grown up in the 90s. For me, it was the best time in NHL. Lemieux, #99, Messier, Bure, Fedorov (my idol) Roy and on and on... i miss those times.. for me, today's Leage is kinda boys playing. Back in the 90s those where grown men's at work. Greets from 🇨🇭

The guy who does the narrating obviously didn’t live through the 80’s or 90’s hockey. His timeline his way off, especially on Clark Gillies. He never even played a single game in the 90’s as fas as I know.

The consequence of no enforcers means players will take cheap shots to injure with no repercussions of getting punched out, just a penalty.

Maurice Richard had a deep, DEEP fear of being forgotten, which almost sounds crazy given how he is still remembered fondly 25 years after passing away. The story goes that as he grew older, he would ask his wife to sing him this song that was made about him back in the days. He'd be doing commercials for just about anything just to remain in the public conscience: I do wonder how bittersweet he must have felt seeing the Habs be just as good if not better without him in the 70's. All of this context of course is just so you can watch on this site the absurdely long standing ovation he received when they closed down the Forum and cry even harder 🥹

These came out when I was a Bantam, about 1/3rd of our team wore them, myself included I fucking loved them!!! In Highschool we had the girdle from the Cooperalls, but we wore a “Shell” to just cover the girdle and wore socks instead of the full pant suit. IDK…. I liked the pant suit, I felt like I could better and quicker with the slenderalls look

There should be more NHL Teams in Canada as there are Markets that could definitely support one like St. John’s, Halifax, Fredericton, (it’s a crime that Quebec City doesn’t have a team again) Hamilton, London, and on the west Thunder Bay could have one, Saskatoon could, Regina could, Red Deer could and Victoria too! (Hell Montreal, Toronto & Vancouver could support 2 NHL Teams like New York City)

I don't even think Stevens' hits were deemed illegal. And still you hear so-called fans complaining the game has gotten soft, and they reference the fact that players missing time for concussions as a sign of this weakness (only they use less erudite language than this). And still you see hits the head defended using the league's weird logic of the head not being the "primary point of attack" as justified Zach Whitecloud's supposedly legal head on Leafs forward, Matthew Knies. He was still aiming at the head just as Leafs' enforcer, Ryan Reeves had done to Oilers defenseman, Darnell Nurse. Reeves was at least suspended five games. Whitecloud had a five minute penalty overturned and somehow the Leafs ended up short-handed after trying to come to the stricken, Knies's aid. Bettman, and his ironically named Department of Player Safety continue to deny the role of head injuries in players developing post-career issues including early onset dementia and CTE. It would take a death on ice and a large public criminal trial that put the NHL in the crosshairs that would get the current regime that is unconcerned with player safety and the integrity of the game.

I have sadly been a flyers fan for 50 plus years......they usually screw up but they stole mitchkov in 2023. They have a lot of draft picks next year. I am semi-optimistic.

Nothing about the death of Bill Masterton of the Minnesota North Stars in 1968? The only player to die directly from an injury in an NHL game, which was followed by the extremely slow reaction by the league to mandate helmets. The NHL even created a trophy in honor of him.
