Im from Birmingham but often go to areas like Cradeley Heath, Blackheath and Brierly Hill... Its like stepping back in time and the people I find to be salt of the earth types. The charity shops and markets are the best. Not much else up there mind.

I grew up in Cradley and now live in Sedgley, I can confirm we have possibly the most important history in England being the home of the industrial revolution but it's a complete dump now. The destruction of the mining and steel industry killed the region

Really good video. I live in Sandwell, and it is sad to know that the poverty rate is so high. The crime rate is definitely going up. Only this week a 13 year old was murdered in the boarder of Rowley Regis/Oldbury. I've seen the decline of Dudley,especially the town centre which began when Merry Hill opened.All the large shops like M and S moved out. The majority of school-aged children are also on free school meals. However, one of the largest employers in the area is DPD.

Yeah........... Based on a few local rumours that I've heard since it happened, the killing of that 13 year old in Oldbury is a complete and utter shit-show. I won't say anything here, but it'll be interesting to see what details are made public when the whole case goes to court (I've got a feeling this is one that'll get swept under the rug pretty quickly 😐)

I live in Wolverhampton and have also lived in Wednesfield, Wednesfield isn't that bad really I'd rather live there than heath town! The west park is lovely I go regularly and it's actually very pleasant I've never had trouble there. I think alot of the fly tipping is because in order to use the local Tip they have been asking for photo ID and proof of residency placing more barriers for people. The council will take larger items but it costs extra for them to take them.

The place that you mentioned in your video, you called it the North was actually officially called Charlemont Farm, West Bromwich. I don't live there but I have worked in those tower blocks back in the 1970s and I have to tell you that it was a very nice place then.I used to work for a company called Telefusion who was the main contractor to install cable television, one of my work colleagues used to live there. The Midlands isn't that bad as I still live there, Wolverhampton lol 👍

The Lost City is a housing Estate in Tipton known for having 1 road in and 1 road out. You also missed the New Square area of West Bromwich that's where the big stores are and the Astle Retail Park. Also the Baggies fans only recently got done for Hooliganism as there was trouble in the FA Cup against Local rivals Wolves

I've lived in all these areas, the flats in Blakenhall were took down due to people chucking themselves out the windows, these areas are high in certain ethnic races, for some reason they enjoy trouble.

I used to live in a tower block in Blakenhall (Wolverhampton) called Phoenix Rise, about 20 years ago there were 6 tower blocks two of which had 17 floors and 4 which had 10 floors in the area known as Blakenhall gardens. 5 were owned by the council and 1 (Phoenix Rise) which was sold to a hosing association. From 2002 they started knocking the blocks down one by one until the last block (Phoenix Rise) was knocked down in 2011. As far as I know there are lots of new build houses there but i haven't been to the area in a number of years

I used to live on the Kates Hill estate and went to school there. Moved after someone got attacked just outside my flat. But yeah, there's just nothing for kids to do and there's a big gang and drug problem there. Its in the top 5% of deprived areas in the uk and it shows. A lit of the people there are great though, loads of families who've been there generations.

I was born in Smethwick in the West Midlands 60yrs ago and my parents felt so blessed to get their house there..i had a fantastic childhood , our local parks and schools were brilliant...sadly Sandwell Council are crap now really dont give a shit..i still live within Sandwell but Smethwick, and surrounding areas are horrible places to be now , due to our council failures, peoples attitudes and behaviours and poverty..im just glad my memories of Smethwick growing up will always remain happy ones .. Whitmore Reans WMC was great in the 70s and 80s. My mum was a barmaid there. They had lots of things going on. The Avion Centre close by was the go to shopping area for locals. Loved growing up there.

The area in the north you mention, is known as Charlemont farm estate. I lived with my ex in one of those flats before renovation. The "posher" ones are all private - hence the cameras. My ex mother in law lived just up the hill. I had my car vandalised twice. First time they stole the windscreen - YES i said stole! My first kid had been born, and I had to drive to Coventry (30 miles) with the screen held in by black tape, because they had knifed the seal to get the windscreen! You couldn't pay me to go back - though the yellow chips are the only positive!

I have watched my own neighbourhood which years are ago was working class but people took great pride in their homes and the neighbourhood. Over the last 20 years, it has gotten worse and worse. I imagine in another 20 years, if not sooner, this could be a no-go area as well. No one cares. It is possible to be poor without being pigs. Cleanliness does not cost anything at least not much. There is no excuse for this sort of behaviour. Poverty is not an excuse for filth. I am sure you feel the same.

As someone who was born and raised in Tipton from the late 80s. Tiptons developed back into a charming wonderful town. Also, the lost city, is commonly known for a particular area in Princess End. Not the whole of Tipton. 😅 Tipton has wonderful areas, the canals and national forests around aren't half bad. Yeah it has it's fair share of crimes, but hasn't anywhere else that's low poverty stricken? 😅 people ay half bad either. Treat us with respect, we'll buy you a beer. 🍻 slag us off to our face, you'll eat a bare knuckle fist 🤷🏽♂🤣

I am sorry but the community is responsible for making where they live a nice place, it seems there is no community spirit anymore, most people look after the area where they live, keep it clean, do not dump rubbish all over the place because they live there. If all these people are not working then what are they doing? why are they not out weeding, cleaning up the rubbish, sweeping the pavements outside there buildings? cleaning up all the graffiti? - It is because they have no self respect. They expect someone else to do it and it is someone else's job. They get no sympathy at all from me, if they choose to live this way and have no respect for where they live then that is down to them.

your total WRONG on tiptons the lost city i was born on the lost city back in 1967 .its known as the lost city because most outsiders got lost in the eaststate ,or didnt know how big it was ,.you think it has alot of flats know ,go look at tipton in the 1970s bolton court north road flats victoria flats st marks road,the tilted barrel is more bent and twisted than the crooked house was the crooked house dropped 2 different ways ,the tilted barrel drops 4 different ways due to the canal side ,is a local pub thats been kept quite,not enough parking space and locals loved the barrel,walsall you should have gone to the butts or next to walsall manor hospital and coal pool,

You should have gone to Tudor street in Tipton it’s like the jungle in LA (bit of an over exaggeration lol but still) one way in one way out and the residents KNOW when there is someone walking or driving in who isn’t a resident or a known! lol

That's the Lost City Estate as it's known my Dad worked with people of there in the 90's he Wore Armami Clothes that he nicked of the back of the wagon and drove a BMW 5/7 Series from selling all the Stolen goods to people
