I think I would have pulled the wires through each separate conduit and and the elbows before glueing them. But it's easy to watch and be a smarty pants after the event. It's good to see the boys getting stuck in and helping.

for a minute there, thought this was the previous power feed cable bury...yeh, for my money, always feed one piece of conduit at a time and then glue afterwards. last time i pulled wires through conduit, my conduit was smaller than it should have been, so it was a real chore pulling two 10/3 wires through a 1 1/2" pipe. Great work, Sam. Love seeing you teaching your boys how a man works. Hate to think you might someday run out of home improvement projects and good stuff to video.

Spray silicone on your end and your bends there at the end, will help in slide easier. Or dust powder down in them. That's a lot of wires to pull at once! It'll be so nice to have it all safely in conduit! And the boys are big help now!
@watcherofwatchers6 ай бұрын
For future reference, they make a cable lube which can make pulling wires through conduit much easier. I also leave the bends off the conduit until after the pull and just slide them over the ends, which also makes the pull easier. Lastly, and this is surely not electrician approved (except my electrican didn't seem to mind on our 450 ft pull), I got on my UTV and used it to do the majority of pulling the wire through the conduit. Lol. The pull took like 30 seconds and was easy peasey.

Be glad you used the 2 inch conduit trying to pull it through 1 and and 1/2 would have been a nightmare you would not have wanted. If you need to this again remember pull it through the conduit first. You can even do it above ground. But make sure you decide if you want to pull it through the elbows or not, you can pull it slide down the elbow and glue it. Good work. Nice to see you working with your boys.

One suggestion, anytime you have conduit coming up from the ground and attached to a solid structure use a slip joint. I made the same mistake hooking up my well house and shop and didn't use them and it pushed the breaker box off the pole when the soil expanded and contracted.

When I was younger I put an HVAC system in an old farm house. I cut all the holes in the floor for the second story. And the holes in the ceiling for the first floor. The guy I was working with said we would use the cat method to get the runs pulled. He tied a string around the cats neck and tempted it with food at the other end. The ln we just pulled the flex duct through the space. 👍👍
