Worst part for me was thinking you couldn’t do anything to please the drill sergeants. You can do everything perfectly, but they’ll still find something wrong. I had to tell myself to not be discouraged because it’s just how it was.

The hardest for me when I went through was qualifying with my weapon at first.

I had a very hard time too and was one of the last males in my company to qualify. One drill sergeant even had to kneel down with me to help me shoot ("here. Aim for the dick!") And I finally qualified with 24 hits). Though i also had to use someone else's weapon because more than one drill sergeant said something was wrong with mine.

I actually asked that drill sergeant if I could tell him thank you but of course he said no

Dan C. "Fort Jackson D 1-13" No lie, I went through that same thing, Delta company 1-13 at jackson also. But I went in October 2017-January 2018 so I'm sure all the drill sergeants from my cycle are off the trail now and probably also 1st sgt Irving and Cpt Kantz. I was in first platoon "spartans" . second platoon was "punishers" (with the marvel comics character logo), third platoon was "renegades" and fourth platoon was "undertakers" (sometimes called "underweartakers") and collectively the company was known as the "DEATH DEALERS"

@@golfery5119 A lot of it was the same for me except we didn't have a second platoon but I heard about the punishers. And yeah all the chain of command changed I think. Everything else was the same though

I knew I was hosed when I got to my boot unit and the 1SG was introduced as 1SG Johnston which as it turned out is my last name and everyone with that name originated from the same clan in Scotland.! Every time he saw me from that point forward he drop me and have me push until I couldn’t push anymore. Then he tell me that I better not bring any dishonor to our clan.

Basic training is based off who your drills are. My platoon didn’t get smoked that much but when we did it was for a couple hours. Other platoons got everything single day at certain times of the day.

The hardest part is staying friendly or neutral with your battle buddies. Even tho you’re a bunch of guys stuck together with one goal, people has different personalities and sometimes they clash. However, going through it, you work with new people much better.

The worst part of basic for me was the forge, especially since I did it in the month of december. Next to that was a few weeks earlier when after my company did our blue phase pt test and everyone was tired and sore, we all had to dress in full battle rattle (with body armor) and wait for this command sergeant major to come inspect all something like 150 of us. He took his sweet time showing up and we had to wait for like an hour and a half. Next to that was before basic started when we were in reception and were forced to stand in formations for several hours on end and not allowed to sleep until our third night

Weather at ft Leonard wood was probably the worst part of training I was in osut in fall cycle. September-December Had a really hot early basic training and really cold AIT. My anvil and forge was cold and raining all the time.

the worst part is ruck marching to the nearest storm area only to march back to the company and be cleared to start the march again because lightning hit 20 miles away. If it rains it will suck.

Because everyone is a Soldier first. You don't want to be in a situation where soldiers are moving from one location to another to set up in a combat zone and then get attacked and the only ones that are capable of defending are the ones that went through the "Extreme" training.

My mentality wouldn’t care about getting smoked. I’m not the best at PT but I would welcome it. It’s the part where I would need a battle-buddy that would be my issue. You have to find someone to go everywhere with including the bathroom.

Hardest part was the people, you will get smoked A LOT for things other people do, and it gets old quick, but for some reason others don't learn and it happens again and again. Physically it's not that bad, the drill sgts know when you are trying your hardest. If you slack they will get on you. If you give it your all you'll be good. The worst training piece was NIC. NIC for us was at night, mid 20s, sand EVERYWHERE, massive puddles you have to crawl through, and then stand still in the cold and just freeze while you wait for trans.

I see a recruiter on Friday, I have to get papers from my conviction and all that but I’m feening to know my start date. I’m married with 5 kids and only God knows how all of this is going to go.. but I’m just anxious to hurry up and get to BCT. In my mind.. I’m already there. Your vids motivate me a lot.

Worst part for me granted it was before most people here were born was KP duty. Not sure if they still have that. I would not say i loved Army training BUT no real surprise or shock for me because why in the hell would it be? YOU JOINED THE ARMY what type of training were you expecting? The Army is basically simple if you prepare yourself physically and mentally BEFORE you start Basic training NOT after you start. Everything was based on time back then meaning training will end in a certain amount of weeks so knowing that in your mind there is a countdown of when it will end.( This type of countdown never ends. Every new unit you go to there will be a countdown on when you PCS or ETS). Back in 1982 we were given SMART booklets that showed you what you need to know to graduate basic plus other Army stuff that you won't be tested on. I believe they still issue some type of booklet in today's Army. Study it when ever you have a free moment which there are many because the Army loves to hurry up and wait. Study your ass of during lulls and you will be way ahead of the game trust me.Do as your told WHEN your told and in an aggressive manner and before you know it your will be on to AIT and you will say damn time flew

Not at all. You got to know that if all other branches including the air force has a gas chamber then the gas chamber can't be that terrible. Now it definitely wasn't that bad for me since I was sick with the flu when I was doing it

@@novaskyzero Especially since you have to be in formation so early (for me, in both basic and AIT, it was by 0515). You are not used to it and of course your body has to go use the restroom, which you don't have much time for. You also have to make sure your bed is made up or else. Come back to the bay many times to see the drill sergeants have flipped mattresses over because the beds werent made to the drill sergeants satisfaction. I myself had my sheets pulled (but not mattress flipped over) during my first week. Lot of us got smart and grabbed an extra blanket and would make our beds before sleeping and just use that extra blanket for cover. We got away with it for the rest of the cycle and I never had my bed messed with after that incident the first week but other guys didn't learn. Then with all this, if you go in the winter like I did and had to wear "full winter PTs" with gloves and cap to morning formation, you always had somebody in a rush to formation who would forget something, so the drill sergeants of that platoon would force the rest of the platoon to take off THEIR gloves and caps!!! Great memories but you couldn't pay me to go through this again.

@@golfery5119 i started basic/ait last winter in FLW and my platoon got permission to wake up 15 minutes early on our own so we can get extra time to get ready. Unless if we had to be in OCPs (which wasn't often), I said fuck that and stayed in my bunk until 0430. Also I hated working fireguard unless if I had the very first or last shift so that I wouldn't have to wake up twice in one night.

You just make a bowl with the mre bag and shove the rice, meat, cheese spread in it (after you heated everything up first obvi), mix it and put it in the tortillas.
