Can you guess what the worst protein powder is?
Timestamps
0:00 What is the worst protein powder?
0:22 The problem with soy protein isolates
In this short video, I'm going to share what the absolute worst protein powder is.
The worst protein powder isn't pea protein or even whey protein. The worst protein powder is soy protein isolate powder.
95% of all soy is GMO. This means it has residue of an herbicide called glyphosate. Soy can raise estrogen levels and decrease testosterone levels. Soy protein isolates can be found in diet shakes, diet bars, vegan meat patties, and even baby formula.
Soy protein isolate can be hard on the liver. It's also not fermented like tofu, tempeh, or miso and is not easily digested.

All the information he said was false. 95 % of soy is gmo but that 95% of soy goes to FARM ANIMALS that meat eaters then eat. The other 5% of soy is used to make soy products like tofu or soy protein powders. He said soy raises your estrogen and there are MANY studies that show that is FALSE and soy even has a positive effect on those fighting breast cancer. He also said tofu is fermented and tofu is NOT fermented tempeh Is

I'm still working on inflammation but my hyperthyroidism is almost gone ...I couldn't be happier !

I don't want to start an internet comment section argument, but you should be careful whose advice you trust. He calls himself doctor, but doesn't have a medical degree. I love chiropracters but I wouldn't take actual medical advice from an unlicensed person, especially when they do not put up their sources (what do you mean his videos are well-sourced?). The stuff he talks about is fed by public opinion and populist fear, not scientific fact. I have no bad intentions or hate to spread, but please please, do your own research. Consult various sources before picking something up and trusting it blindly

@@billsmeets1122That makes sense. I bought 3 different whey protein powders from 3 different top bodybuilders and all 3 different containers list soy protein. And all 3 bodybuilders are huge. I haven't grown boobs and I feel great. Just trying to increase my protein level to my body weight at age 66 with prostate cancer. Working out when I can. Hard to find protein powders without soy. Every where I read it says soy builds muscle. Plus I trust reputable body builders more than Amazon. Who knows how long that stuff sits somewhere in a dirty uncontrolled climate environment?

When I first became vegetarian, I ate all the manufactured vegetable burgers and such thinking it was healthy, and after 5 years of eating that way, came down with constant horrible stomach pains that no doctor could diagnose. I even had an exploratory surgery which turned up no explanation. I gave up all the artifical vegetarian foods and try to eat organic whole foods only and no more stomach problems. I don't have a perfect diet by any means but I am done with that processed "food" because I'm sure that was what made me so sick. Yes! Right on the money Dr. Berg!! I had no idea for a couple years every once in awhile there was soy in the vegetarian and vegan things I was eating and even minute quantities of soy would make me very sick. It would give me sensitive skin and my face would swell for a couple days afterward and I noticed I would feel lethargic with abdominal discomfort and nipples swelling unusually for me being quite active it made me uncomfortable with my body. I didn't understand why that was happening until my nutritionists performed nutrition response muscle testing on me and found out that soy was a stressor for me. Now it's been a year without soy and I feel like my body is back to normal healthy functioning!

Dr. Berg, I really enjoy your videos. They are very informative. I purchased the High Impact Whey Protein powder from Power Life by Tony Horton along with their High Impact Plant Protein hoping to rebuild muscle mass. They claim to be superior than average, would using it interfere with my fasting and weightloss regiment? Also, does the Premium Blend of Pure Irish Grassfed Whey Protein, 3000 MG myHMB & ALGAE D3, along with the other nutrients make a difference with this particular powder? Please let me know. Thanks,

I have been using 100% whey protein isolate after working out in the gym for a few years. There was nothing bad happened. Recently someone introduced soy protein isolate because they said it can reduce visceral fats around the belly. I tried and after three days i have breakouts on my shoulders and some kinda rashes all over by body. It is not entirely like acnes but some discomfort on the skin surface as if the skin was being rubbed harshly.

In my country, we dont use GMO soys. All soy protein isolate is made with non-GMO soys. I have been drinking soy milk for more than 10years and soy protein isolate for more than a year on a regular basis and i have never felt more womanly or having any pain or indigestion issues. Soy protein isolate is also naturally rich in bioflavonoids which whey or casein powder are missing. It aids in preventing cardiovascular disease or brain degenerative disease. In China and japan people have been drinking soy milk for thousands of years without any report of man turning more womanly due to controversial “estrogen” effect. As for anti-nutrient phytic acid, asians had already developed many different fermentation techniques to remove that ages ago. Phytoestrogen and phytic acid is a naturally occurring compound in most grain and plant products to prevent insects and animals from eating them. Flax seed and brown rice are some example of that and it had way more phytic acid content compared to soy but nobody seems to mention about them when consuming somehow.

In 2015, I was losing weight steadily and I switched from regular low fat milk to soy milk. In a span of three months, I gained 30 pounds. Every month I was gaining 10 pds and I couldn't figure out why. When I was younger my family drank soy milk and it didn't seem to bother us. After doing my own research I found out that soy adversely affects the thyroid gland and I have been hypoglycemic for years. Yes, I stopped using soy products but so am just starting to shed the 30 pounds I gained.

I remember when I was a child that farmers started really big into growing soybeans and it went into our national food supply. I started gaining weight and had trouble with it much of the time, ever since. It's like there's not much hope to get rid of that soy. (Which just sounds gross -soy -bleah!)

Hi thank you for the video. Just curious, my husband is vegetarian and he does consume a lot of soy meat. So we all sometimes eat those as well. Recently he had to undergo surgery to remove polyps from his colon and he has acid reflux and an ulcer in the throat. Does soy protein play a part in any of these or is there a link?

I guessed it :-) I am vegan and I definitely don't have any isolate soy protein (or vegan junk food). Dr Mcdougall said that this stuff actually raises the IGF-1 much more than milk or other animal products does. IGF-1 is a growth hormone and as we get older, these levels generally need to come down to prevent cancer from growing. Generally a vegan diet lowers these levels the most. However, if somebody has isolate soy protein, then their levels will be high. Tofu, miso, and tempeh or fine, but this stuff definitely is bad. thanks Dr. Berg you are awesome!

He also said tofu is fermented and tofu is NOT fermented tempeh Is.
