Queen Letizia's dress is a masterpiece of Spanish haute couture, every detail of the dress is a tribute to Spain's culture and history. The problem is that it was too much for the bride. Letizia is too petite and too thin for so much dress, which swallowed her alive. Also, the pointy neckline made her already pointy facial features even pointier. Maybe some modifications, like a softer, more open neckline (Spanish royal brides are allowed to show their shoulders) and shorter sleeves would have worked better.

Let's be honest, none of the dresses in this video is anywhere near the worst, not even remotely. Some people just didn't like the one or other dress and commented about it. Fair enough, since tastes differ, that is to be expected. I didn't like some of them all that much either, but still wouldn't say they were the worst. They were just not to my taste. In short, there will never be the one universally perfect dress, that everyone on this planet will love and not criticise even a little bit. As long as the bride loves it, it's the perfect dress for her. Yes, people are allowed their opinions, and may voice them, but in the end, with the wedding over, they are irrelevant, as is this video. It's nothing but clickbait, especially since most of the gowns aren't even royal wedding dresses. Nobility and ex-nobility/ex-royals aren't royal, not even if they are related to actual royalty. As for some of these dresses being outragously expensive, if they've got the money, why not? They are allowed to spend it however they wish, be it on a wedding dress, a car, or a wine cellar.

Did you notice that, in this video, every single dress, except MM’s, was illustrated with the same 4 excerpts from Twitter critics, pertaining to... Meghan’s dress and wedding ceremony. This was very poor work indeed, coupled with the fact that every dress was criticized for being either too simple or too embellished. There was also no consideration for the brides’s origin. Of course, every bride marrying into a European royal family had to be a show-off of all that country could produce, in terms of lace, jewelry, etc. And of course, Raina marrying the heir to the king of Jordan had to have a lot of golden embroidery and stuff, because that's what Middle Eastern people consider as beautiful and royal.

I thought I wanted an off-the-shoulder lace gown, in case the day was hot, because of this. I went shopping alone, because I never saw the point of dragging other people, whose opinions I would never listen to in the first place, with me to critique my choices. I found and purchased a gorgeous Bianchi designer A-line gown made of Schiffli lace with full, fitted sleeves and a high collar. Definitely *not* what I was looking for, but definitely what I wanted. Let's be honest. The criticism comes mainly from Americans who believe that their wedding tradition of showing a lot of bare skin as a bride and being the center of attention is universal. They simply cannot imagine that royals are not something like Hollywood stars, but representatives of the individual culture of their country. Example: Marie Chantall married in a Greek Orthodox ceremony, in the presence of the Queen. In such a setting you don't show yourself half naked. With her dress, Kelly of Saxe-Coburg takes up the traditional German Tracht of the Coburg region, in which the hip long bodice is worn on top, like every Bavarian Dirndl. And by the way: a clearer pronunciation instead of your hectic nasal sing-song would be better. You Americans are not the only ones on this planet.
@MSjackiesaunders25 күн бұрын
@Frohds14 Hey, don't blame all Americans for having bad taste! I hate the half-naked look, myself. Hollywood starlets like it because it gives them free press, but people like Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway are much more tasteful in their styles. Yes, I will agree that there have been some American brides who chose appalling wedding dresses, but they are the exceptions, not the rule. And a lot of those fashion choices are directly off of French runways. Cathedral or even church marriages are becoming increasingly rare in most Western countries. Royals, however, are a different story! They are expected to marry in a church and usually are "encouraged" to wear more conservative styles.

Why didn't anybody stop me from doing that?" Some dresses just don't go with some people. Chances are near zero that a dress will look the same on you as it does on a model in a photograph. Other folks can see you as you are unable to see yourself. Other folks may have made the same mistakes you seem intent on making, and want to save you from yourself. I don't like lace and am definitely inclined towards minimalist, so Princess Madeleine's dress was too fussy and frilly for my taste, however, it did actually suit her and she looked beautiful. Although, considering Crown Princess Victoria's minimalist dress, I do wonder to what extent Princess Madeleine's dress was influenced by a very human desire for a dress that was as different as possible to that of her older sister. I think most younger sisters would want a wedding dress that was different to that of their older sister.

@@Kate-lk6tw Anyone with an ounce of good taste would know that Meghan's dress did not fit her well, the sleeves wrinkled at the arms, the neckline too wide and the flare of the entire dress was stiff and yes, it was boring. The dress could have been stunning, it wasn't well made. Givenchy was so embarrassed that they fired Keller. Rumor is that Meghan was impossible and demanded more and more changes at each fitting that the poor seamstresses didn't know how to please her. Meghan wears very expensive clothes but fails to have them tailored, she never does seem to get the fit quite right no matter how much she spends. Money does not equal good taste.

Princess Madeleine of Sweden was my favorite, tied with Queen Mary's. Love the lace neckline and overall silhouette of Madeleine's dress. I loved Queen Mary's dress. It was her veil I found extremely distracting. I think the overall line and shape of the veil by her face seemed abrupt or unfinished in a way. Zara's was my second favorite. I loved the A-line and dropped waist, as well as the fabric serving as "straps".

I don't know which "experts" are picking these, but Queen Mary's dress was beautiful, and I also liked Lady Serena's dress. And Princess Madeleine's dress was gorgeous, apart from the dust ruffle on the skirt. Meghan Markle's dress should have been #1, no question. Boring, inappropriate, and ill-fitting.

Princess Mabel's dress is, by far, the ugliest dress in this collection. The "fern dress" is a close second.
@agnesdix-dehert945420 күн бұрын
So let me get this straight... not just that the "criticisms" shown were identical, and - I suspect - all, every single one, being about Harry & Meghan's wedding... a) simple is too plain. b) embellished is too fussy/ostentatious. c) comfortable fit is too loose. d) fitted makes it look like the bride can't breathe. e) classic is boring. f) modern is not traditional enough. By the way, Lady Serena Armstrong-Jones' gown was made from different materials, only the ballgown skirt was silk organza. And a lace overlay over a solid bodice is more beautiful than so many brides I've seen flaunt in "Say Yes to the Dress", where way too much skin is clearly visible between bust and knees - and at least none of these royal brides wore strapless gowns. The price of the gown is irrelevant, since the cost is usually borne by the bride's family (the exception being Meghan). The only two bridal gowns that I'd agree with being 'bad' were the Princess Napoléon (I found the cut-out lace motifs too large, individually, otherwise it was fine. But the biggest no-no was Meghan's, and that was not due to the dressmaker or the designer - the bridezilla changed her mind so often that the end result, even if it turned out how she intended was never going to fit properly (besides, speculation is that she'd copied what she'd seen Princess Angela of Liechtenstein wear - and the newly-minted Princess of Liechtenstein wore it better). And the sloppy hairdo, with those 'signature strands' flying about her face were also by Meghan's diktat... she tried to "explain" them after the backlash really hit, by claiming she felt the hairdo made her "more relatable"... I also assume that she'd shown Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II the proverbial finger by ignoring the diplomatic advice: "no white gown or veil for a divorcée" - it was already a huge concession that she was marrying in a full church ceremony, and none of it was paid by her (the alleged multi-millionaire) or her family (which she'd already disowned by then, as being beneath her).
@tooma488619 күн бұрын
I completely agree with everything you said about Meghan and her awful wedding dress. I cannot imagine going against Queen Elizabeth's requests for no white gown or veil. Just could NOT imagine doing that! But this was only one of the times she gave Her Majesty and the Royal Family the middle finger (she's an immature contrarian)! So she wore her hair in a "relatable" style? Well, how was anything about that wedding that cost millions relatable??? Nothing about her lifestyle choices are "relatable!" She buys ridiculously expensive UN-RELATABLE designer clothes, but 9 times out of 10 manages to look like crap. She's so full of it!
@agnesdix-dehert945418 күн бұрын
@@tooma4886 Once the backlash about the wedding really kicked in (and she who "never reads social media" 'got' the criticism about the ill-fitting dress and the hairdo mess - she applied a bit of damage limitation: of course there was the question as to why the hairdresser had let her go out with those straggly stringy bits hanging down, and hey presto! there was the explanation... she'd wanted to have that hairdo because "it made her more relatable"...

If a wedding dress was deemed expensive, people gripe. If it’s deemed low budget, people gripe. These brides don’t plan to have ugly wedding gowns made for their special day. Lots of thought and meticulous design are involved. Some people would gripe if they were hung with a new rope. Those people need to stop tearing others down to feel puffed up about themselves. DUCHESS MEGHAN'S dress had embelishments sewn in to the fabric of it. Don't remember what it was but it had it's "embelisments" sewn in. Diana was married in 1987. It was quite stylish for the time. And anything would be a wrinkled hot mess if it was literally stuffed into a carriage. Somehow somehow that was not thought of somewhere along the line. Not that it really matters now. But I'm really happy she never made it to be queen. SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN MISERABLE. She was in an unhappy marriage as a Princess.
