i saw the kalimba and screamed, for may it be peaceful while it is sunny bright and warm, in the cold, unforgiving, all seeing dark, it acts as not only a beacon for all the unspeakable demons to locate you with, but it’s usually melancholy and calm tones have turned chilling and haunting, a spine tingling reminder to the predicament you find yourself in.

Mbira are a family of musical instruments, which the kalimba is a member of, traditional to the Shona people of Zimbabwe. They consist of a wooden board (often fitted with a resonator) with attached staggered metal tines, played by holding the instrument in the hands and plucking the tines with the thumbs (at minimum), the right forefinger (most mbira), and sometimes the left forefinger. Musicologists classify it as a lamellaphone, part of the plucked idiophone family of musical instruments. In Eastern and Southern Africa, there are many kinds of mbira, often accompanied by the hosho, a percussion instrument. It is often an important instrument played at religious ceremonies, weddings, and other social gatherings. The "Art of crafting and playing Mbira/Sansi, the finger-plucking traditional musical instrument in Malawi and Zimbabwe" was added to the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2020.

Funny because just a few days ago, where I live there was a massive storm, everything was freezing, the powerlines broke and there was even a cyclone somewhere (not near our house). But I was with my grandparents and my sister visiting Australia Zoo, and it was burning hot all. Day. Long. Honestly Australia is amazing.

I'm joining my middle school's jazz band next year as a drummer and sax player, so this relates to me a lot 😆

Was the flashlight a prop or does the power go out regularly? I wanna know.
