Man, culture has really stagnated. Some of these songs came out 2010-2012; that's 12-14 years ago. And they could drop right now and not feel out of place. But let's use that same timeline elsewhere. Think of the culture shift from 1980 to 1994: can you see Black Hole Sun in 1980? Or Devo's Whip It in 1994? The hairstyles, clothing, cars, appliances, etc. were very different. But now??? Most things from 10-15 years ago can frequently be interchanged w/o any cognitive dissonance.

“Alcoholic pop” was like, the major theme of the 2010s and I highly suspect it was because of all the millennials coming of age to party and we took it way too far 😂 plus we loved the pop music of the late 90s with the boy bands and what not so I think the music producers caught on to this and really tuned into that “raver persona” because pretty much everyone was making music for partygoers. Ke$ha was a number one artist singing about “waking up to wash her teeth with a bottle of jack” also every single band or singer always included a “featuring this person/this band” and I think even key & peele joked about this or some clip show was making fun of the fact that so many bands and singers/rappers were including and “featuring” like a million different people in one song lol. I like the idea of inclusion but soooo many people were put on the “artist” by featuring them lol

Great vid finn. Been viewing your channel for a while now. Hey can u make a video on music like the band breakwater, i think u would consider them experimental hardcore. Also even though u dont like the genre can u talk about post punk and joy division. Ps. Im 20 now but man i was about 13-14 during the pump era and it was wild. Everyone liked pump, kodak, and uzi. I was listening to x, suicide boys, and nu metal. That then progressed into hardcore and punk. I credit suicide boys for getting me into punk and hardcore. But yeah everyone wore clout clothes and thrasher shirts until my 10 grade year than the alt rap and ganster rao picked up. U either had alt rap fans like me in lil peep, g59, or x merch with piercings and dyed hair. Or u head dudes in weird runched detail skinny jeans or weird ripped skinny jeans. Google nba youngboy jeans for an example. Then thise dudes would wear fake cold chains with a white tee or a basketball jersey. Ohhh and the fake diamond ear rings. That was our version of punks vs metal. It was alt rap kids vs street rap kids. Both didnt like each other.

Ghost is great. I miss their (his?) early days when people I knew called them the satanic Beatles because their songs were simple and catchy with more satanic lyrics than the heaviest shit out there, but their new stuff is really good too. And to say one of their songs sounds like some other famous song is a MASSIVE understatement. His genius is taking iconic sounds from massive hits from the 60s, 70s, and 80s and making new songs out of them. Easy to say, but if it was easy to do everyone would be doing it. I've heard Mozart was accused of doing pretty much the same thing: taking earlier musicians' creations and combining them to greater heights. Good artists borrow; great artists steal!

The reason some people make music "their personality" is because western society in 2024 is full of automised individuals with nothing in common with each other. It's not 1950 anymore, where we all wear the same clothes and listen to the same music amd watch the same news and read the same newspapers anymore. When I was young, the kid bullied me and said prejudiced things about me being Chinese were white kids who listened to rap. Yes, white kids who listened to rap. They were labelled as chavs. I grew up in Britain, but my view of rap from an early age was that it was full of people with a tribal, dangerous mentality. Whilst that has improved amongst the hip hop community, my memories of receiving abuse from said community hasn't faded. Do you know who were nice to me instead? Fans of rock, indie, punk, emo and metal. Yes, metal fans were usually polite to me. I know you talk about bringing punks and metalheads back into normie society, but a lot of rock music has written songs protesting wars like Vietnam (due to soldiers who died), Iraq, Afghanistan, Korea and genocide in Cambodia. The fact is scenesters get into rock music is because we know something's wrong about our western governments, social issues, family disfunction and many woes, so naturally, yes, we are angry people. You can argue there are rappers who have written similar work, but their genre has been bastardised by elites much more easily than rock music has been. Why? Because rap is a more digestible and sellable music genre than rock, classical or jazz music is. I genuinely the code of conduct within hip hop to be much, much lower than any music scene. The only reason you walked away from underground music is because of your personal problems from childhood, you have never been emotionally equipped to protest and argue about governments, wars and societal issues. I do not take pleasure from your personal woes, but it's kinda clear you treat music like how children and teens get drawn into listening to pop bands and emo rockers write about heartbreak and love struggles. It's been about finding something which matched your pain and difficulties, not appreciating its messages about something bigger. So anything that appears elitist or glorifying victory, strength and triumph is not your cup of tea. (I've always wondered what if you ever did a video about classical, jazz and folk music, but I get the feeling you'd label it as antiquated, elitist and overrated). I know deep down you want acceptance from wider society, so you're rejecting your former self. You're tired of being angry and you don’t want to question society anymore. Instead, you want to question the outcasts and tell them to get back in line. You yearn for a time where the government finally finds a solution to unite the rabble (but the truth is it no longer can) and stuff like punk and metal is moribund. But the truth is a lot of radio music is obsessed about distracting people with daft, narcissistic, foul lyrics. In regards to the videos about metalheads, you're just concern trolling. Talking about prejudice in certain music scenes should not be your concern. You're getting too involved in reading comments from random nobodies online, who wouldn't even back up their words if you confronted in real life. Think about dealing with your stress, sleeping issues and providing for your family (rethinking your career if needs be) should be your priority.

Ghost is an unironically amazing band and people like hating on it because it isn’t “heavy enough” to be considered metal, but somehow those people fail to recognize the copious amounts of other metal bands who have similar sounds and are still considered metal. Nobody is claiming that ghost is thrash or death or black but that doesn’t mean that they are automatically not metal just because they aren’t super heavy sounding (if that were true than multiple entire subgenres of metal would have to be erased from the metal sphere)

Dude, Lil Pump was 16 when that song came out. What the fuck. Dude is 23 right now. Damn. He will be having a comeback before he's 30.
