At the 2003 Las Vegas Bowl, there were two completely different opinions with regards to who the representative out of the Mountain West Conference should be. The executive director of the bowl, Tina Kunzer-Murphy, wanted the bowl to select Colorado State. The selection committee wanted the bowl to select New Mexico. After a huge debate, democracy won in the end... and the end result was a disastrous Las Vegas Bowl between New Mexico and Oregon State that failed from both an on-the-field and an off-the-field standpoint.
