THE WORST THING ABOUT THE SUR RON // 2024

Welcome back to another video! Today I will be discussing the worst thing about my Sur Ron. After my Sur Ron took a punishing at SX Worx a few weeks back, my jackshaft bearings took the brunt of the jumps and landings. In this video I take on the horrendous task of taking out the jackshaft as well as the swing arm to replace the faulty bearings.
Whilst the Sur Ron was apart I took the opportunity to replace the rear wheel bearings too. This was a much easier job. Now the Sur Ron is riding as it did when it left the factory!! Next I need to replace the headset bearings. But this can wait until another day.

Haha great video man. The first couple of times doing this job is the worst but you soon get the hang of it when doing it frequently!! As for the jackshaft plastic cover, leave that attached to the swing arm until the swing arm has been removed. Then you can easily get to the bolts of that cover to remove it. They’re almost impossible to get at when they’re still on the bike😂. Keep the good content coming!! 💯🔋⚡️

Take the pegs and swingarm axel out, take belt from off the motor and the chain from off the rear sprocket and the jackshaft will drop out the bottom with a bit of persuasion/wd40 even with the plastic cover on although I have thrown that thing in the bin absolute waste of time. Great video 🙌

You can take the jackshaft out without removing the swingarm to make it easier.

with my weight if I try to jump like you did my fork most likely would die 🤣 I consider whole suspension as weakness fork especially

Haha i've been there with the little plastic cover on the pully of the jackshaft. 😂 I bought a upgraded swingarm and wrecked that little shitty thing like i was freddy krueger. It was statisfying.. 😊 and for your problem putting the swingarm back in. Release some pressure on the frame.

@@southcoastsurron just buy an ugraded swingarm without the little cover haha. It was a must for me with my 3.50 wide rear and increased power from my 72v and x9000.

Salut l'ami. Pour remettre l'arbre, rien de bien compliqué, il suffit d'insérer une tige filetée de 8 mm de 169 mm de long. Ainsi l'ensemble bras oscillant/arbre de transmission sont maintenus, et il n'y a plus qu'à placer l'ensemble sur le cadre et remettre l'axe, qui en l'enfonçant va prendre la place et chasser la tige qui a servi à maintenir l'ensemble pour le remontage. Did you get any clicking before replacing bearings? I got some clicking noise beneath my feet when using throttle, but not when just coasting. Some say it's jackshaft others chain tension and others swingarm bearings. This is for me annoying part of sur ron after 2 years.

I didn’t have any clicking. Mine just felt as if the back end was wobbly. It was like something was loose. My head tube bearing are also completely shot and that made the handle bars creak and click. 👊

Yeah I think I’ll just pay someone when mine need doing 😂, . I’ve took my mates jackshaft out to do chain conversion and that was bad enough I don’t think I could take the stress off the bearings too 🤣

Loosening all the motor and suspension bolts, basically anything clamping up the frame, it gives the space in the frame and swing arm needed to pull things out easier 😂

When you take the jack shaft and the swing arm out get a bit of rod or a bolt with the head cut off and make sure it doesn't protrude either side of the swing arm it will hold the jack shaft in place when you reinstall the swing arm into the bike and you can push it all the way through when you install the swing arm bolt through the frame. hope that helps and makes sense.
