I like to make sure that I've got coffee, some shelf stable milk and maybe some staples like bread in the freezer, so that especially if my flight arrives late, I can have my first cup of coffee and maybe some breakfast at home, before braving other people after a trip.

Thank you so so much for your passport tip! I'm leaving for Paris tomorrow with my newly renewed passport and I hadn't signed it yet. I so luck that I watched your video tonight instead of when I returned home from my trip. What a lifesaver you are! Many hugs and thanks! 😍❤🇫🇷

I always call my bank before I travel. Last year the representative told me she would make a note on my account, but she also said I’d likely get a text the first time I tried to use one of my cards in Europe. Once I replied that it was indeed me using it, I’d be good to go. I also like to put clean sheets on my bed for when I return home. I also pay my grass cutter for the time I’ll be gone. Then I hope and pray my dad keeps the house clean!

Just before leaving the driveway, I would recommend turning off the water at the meter. While traveling for a week, there was a slow water leak that caused a great deal of damage and costly repairs. Returning home to ankle deep water throughout the house erases almost all the happy memories of that trip. Even if we are only gone for a long weekend, now we turn off the water. Also, stop the mail or at least ask a friend or neighbor to collect it. Unplug small appliances such as the coffee pot and toaster. In the electric box in the garage, flip any switches that are not needed during your absence. (I.E. the stove)

These are all great tips, especially for longer trips! So sorry about the water leak, I had some friends that happened to...it's a terrible thing to return home to 😢

In the 80s and early 90s, I never contacted credit cards. Granted, most purchases were in cash, except accommodations booked ahead. I didn't travel for a long time until 1999, where my two credit cards were cut off. Had I not been traveling with a new friend who jumped in, I have no idea what I'd have done with no food, gas or lodging until I finally sorted it out from a phone box on the side of a noisy motorway (pre traveling with cell phone).

Hi, I'm an Australian. We sign the passport application paperwork and our passport comes with that signature on it, just like the photo and other information. How interesting that the systems are so different!

Bank of America repeatedly says you don’t have to notify for travel. And.. they repeatedly decline all charges. Even when you call and ask them to put the notifications on your Visa or debit card.

Lucky enough to be able to go online to let my bank know I’ll be using a different currency overseas. Also my phone company automatically knows I’m outside my country and charges me a flat rate each day. So much easier than in the past. I also use Notes. Thx for all these reminders.

So to touch on credit cards. A little tip for Canadians who are traveling to the US. If the pump is asking for your zip code you put the numbers of the postal code link to your card followed by 00. For example if it is M5V 2T6 (the cn tower) you would enter 52600

Thank you. As I read this, there is no visa required for USA citizens entering Japan for less than 90 days to visit. Only a current USA passport and maybe driver's license.

That's what I thought when I traveled last year too, but when I was at the Detroit airport they did want us to go through the eVisa process. There was no fee for the visa, so it felt more like the entry cards you fill out for other countries. 🤷🏻‍♀️.

I am curious why you needed a visa to go to Japan from Detroit Michigan. I’m assuming you are an US citizen. I just checked to see if I need a visa for Japan and don’t see that I do being American. Please explain.

If your hotel has wifi you can watch your KZbin in France without downloading them in advance. Been doing it for years. If you use a VPN location in the USA while in France, you can watch your Netflix and Hulu. Amazon Prime will not let you use a VPN to watch prime video.
