Honestly i never really look at expected battle outcome on any undead faction. It will be a defeat more often than not but a complete reverse anihilation if you fight it manually. But you have to give credit, this was picture perfect example of what you want to do with VC. Really incredibly well played even if it doesnt look flashy

Mortars are so bad in TW: WH3, yet they are the only unit you can get very early on in your campaign that can do some work during sieges. In the open field you NEED to have something like a leviathan or lord/hero to stop the enemy infantry from moving. You could use Rotting Prometheans summons early on even, since there is not much armor piercing infantry in the early game they should be able to tank the mortar fire and the enemy infantry. Honestly I think Vampire Coast just need massive changes, their early game is nonexistant in field battles. If you spam guns it will be difficult to siege, but if you spam mortars then field battles become extremely difficult. Especially for Luthor Harkon it doesn't help that there are forests literally everywhere which is terrible terrain for a gunner or artillery.

Mortars are mostly bad because at higher difficulties they AI always tries to dodge them. The only mortars that seem to work well are the dreadquakes because of their mobility, slow effect, and impact area. The battle map gen is pretty un-creative in general in WH3. The forest polka-dots bug me so much and not even from tactical perspective. It just looks dumb. Honestly I wish that would add some of the better battle maps back in from WH2.

This was my exact experience playing the Dreadfleet. I had to restart my campaign so many freaking times trying to figure out the best direction to expand. At first I tried invading the doughnut, but after slogging through the same damn walled city map that gives archers ridiculous advantage for the 10th time it quickly got boring. Field battles were just as annoying because of all the forests. I gave up on that and tried going south to Lustria, but even that became an absolute chore. I figured I could make an alliance with Morathi against the Elves, but the stupid AI has a bug (or an 'undocumented feature' to improve end-turn load times) where two factions literally starting at each other across the sea have no diplomatic contact. As a result, Morathi was constantly declaring war on me. Finally I tried the "loot & plunder" campaign where you have no settlements, only Coves, and even that wasn't much fun. My armies always felt underpowered, Coves don't make that much money or take too long to pay off the investment, and it was a huge risk coming on land to attack settlements. I really REALLY wanted to like playing the undead pirate horde, but to me the race is just too weak and broken at the moment.

Yeah. Sieges in general kind of suck if you play them as sieges. "Storm the gate and spam AoE spells" works best a lot of the time. With Luthor Harkon for example, early on there´s a lot of micromanagement to get gunpowder infantry to shoot through the holes you blow in the wall and through the gate. It annying as heck and I much prefer to lure the enemy out into the field rather than fight a big siege. That said Vampire Coast are fun and a bit different to play, just... slow and with LOS problems. Guess that´s what you would expect from a soggy zombie though.

I very much disagree. I use armies of about 14 gunners and 5 mortars all the way through late game and they preform very well in most situations. Against anything that isn't entirely long range archers or heavy cavalry, they destroy. The mortars handle the infantry and the gunners handle single entities and high priority targets. FWIW, I conquered all of Lustria and Hexoatl by turn 75 on VH/H using these armies.

Vampire Coast faction is so damn cool. All the gunpowder, the mortars, the queen bess. It's so satisfying to watch. BUT the accuracy issues are annoying. Half the time gunners shoot the ground or don't shoot at all because something is supposedly obstructing their line of sight.

Mortars are good for Sieges. I get full value or more of mortars on sieges. It's easier for the AI to avoid them on field battles, especially when they're the attacker.

I find the dwarfs other than Ungrim unplayable, all their infantry is too slow and gets kited around the battlefield. In warhammer 2 you could just camp back with your superior artillery and front line troops but now the chaos dwarfs make that a suicidal strategy as they out range and out power you in every department.

As tyrion conquer your own province, make first quest battle and... it's over. Just spam heroes, make actions and diplomacy - it would be stupidly long, but influence and money make some magic, u really can conquer all the map with just allies - dwarfes and empire))
