@zamo9660 Жыл бұрын
? True purists would say it's been done for over 20 years now: do you struggle with edge highlights? You don't even need watercolor pencils, just use a good old regular pencil to create metallic chipping on the edges of the armor or just paint your rifles black, then rub a pencil there. Just remember to seal it afterwards so pencils' shine won't rub away. We shouldn't assume things new to us or not seen on KZbin are genuinely groundbreaking, like melting zipper bags to create plastic strings for dripping pieces, etc. I still remember the 80s, dad was already using oils pinwashing on tanks and helicopter models... then someone brought it back in the 00s for them fantasy smol dudes and it was kind of revolutionary as going back to gunpowder weapons after discovering lasebeams... BTW I wasn't trying to be harsh, just giving my 2 cents... since English ain't my default language I can see how I might sound like a bag full of scrap metal rolling down a hill so sorry in advance if it felt that way. About Trent's voice @Miscast thing well... EZ Have you ever heard yourself in a recording? I bet your voice doesn't quite sound like you daily hear yourself. Same with painting stuff, what you see and what others do may vary. Not everyone has to be a technical guy/gal: using your creativity to fill the skill gap just works as fine as technical skills. Cheers👍

Here's a thought: Maybe it's not entirely possible for us to perceive our own "voice" when it comes to our unique, distinctive style. I can obviously tell a thing I made apart from something a friend made, and I sense this uniquely personal, really apparent quality in theirs. I have this hunch that it's the same case the other way around. I'm a bit too close to the entire process around the thing I made, which, surprisingly, seems to make it harder to actually 'see' it. I enjoy the way you paint these, and I don't believe "gimmicky" is bad at all. I suppose it depends what school of thought you subscribe to - to me, low brow is the highest approach to art, because it's genuine and enthusiastic.

Watercolour pencils are often used in the doll and action figure communities for faceups and body paint, so I honestly wasn't surprised to see you use them here since they're great for certain effects and for some fine detail work. It's a good idea to use them for minis; especially since mistakes can be cleaned away with a wet q-tip, or one could potentially do some interesting and unique special effects with them.

I hope you see my comment.. Honestly, I think you're completely wrong. I think that I have a good skill at painting, but I come to your channel because it inspires me so much. You have a style, and you have a voice. Yes, your sculptural skills are your strong suite, but watching you paint your nurgle minis was so inspiring; the way you apply paint liberally, the way it drips and how you work around that. The was you painted that crazy multi-level board - applying paint and having a strong sense of direction in the tone you wanted to depict. I can lose my vision when painting with an over zealous eye to detail - but my favourite work (miniature and actual landscape painting) comes when I work fast and with passion - much like you do. Please keep doing you - it's fucking awesome to watch!

Trent! I'm honored you think of me as a peer. My "style" is the result of teaching myself how to paint using the supplies I happened to have at the time and a blatant disregard for "the correct" way of painting. For those interested, here is my process: Use a tile as a palette. Brush prime black (Vallejo surface primer- black). Then basecoat black (anita's all purpose acrylic). Make sure all the crevices are fully coated. Next, overbrush the entire model a light color. I usually do tan or light gray. Do not push this into the crevices! After this step, it will look somewhat like a statue. Next, paint the raised gray areas the color you want, leaving the black in the crevices alone. Pick out details. Use a fine brush with watered down black paint to draw in contrast lines in important areas , like under the eyes. Finally, brush on varnish (Vallejo gloss on eyes mouth etc, matte on the rest).

Great video! Our paints are great for base and top coating minis. Base coat will give a solid colour to work from when you are detail painting and top coating with our clears protects them so they can be handled when playing. One thing, try our painting clips - they are designed to clip on to the model so you don't have to hold them with your hand and get paint all over your fingers! :)

Hey, awesome that you found this video. I've used your products for the last couple of years, I buy them mostly because you're Australian made, my local shop stocks them and the price point is good for the volume. I have worked my way through the majority of your products at the point for a wide variety of projects. I've spread the word about your products to most of my Australian peers because you've solved a lot of problems we face in Aus like that you reliably sell replacement parts for your airbrushes. I use to recommend the baby single action airbrush you used to sell quite a lot also - it was a great price point and very easy to maintain - I could understand discontinuing it however but I LOVED IT. I do have some clips, but for a project like this where I'm painting 150 models at the exact same time, I cant justify the cost. If you ever want to do anything together contact me!

So, I'm pretty sure the reason behind the foaming is the PVA and Baking soda texture isn't completely protected by the concrete texture spray.
