Dicephoon is interesting. It doesn't target, so it could be a funny tech choice against spyral just to chain to Sleeper and target Gear last resort (and if you're lucky even the field Resort) if you want to main something less specific than Shattering Arrow.

Premature return does actually have synergy with the cyberse link deck. A lot of the cyberse monsters in the deck have effects when banished.

prematuure Return seems usable in Shiranui-Decks because they want to banish their monsters to activate their effects and recycle them. Some of them give you card advantage like banning one card of the opponent or recycle up to two banished monsters. If it would be a spell card it would be basically a staple, but they put it inn the wrong deck.

Use Mystic Box to give your opponent a face down Hiro's Shadow Scout! Or Fire Sorcerer! Or... Well okay I may have specifically made a deck around Reverse-Reuse and also used Mystic Box as part of my bag of tricks. And the deck might have been awful. Just maybe. Oh, and the correct answer for Chaos Max, in terms of "traps that damage your opponent for them attacking" is Dimension Wall. It doesn't target and will even reflect the double piercing damage. And is generally speaking bad. Like Magic Cylinder. But then I live my life playing bad decks so I'm in the know here.

I don't know about within that structure deck, but d.d. Sprite is actually fairly decent in general. It has some cool interaction with ami-no iwata. Since spirits don't return to the hand if they aren't on the field you can banish iwata until your opponents standby phase and then it returns and they can't activate monster effects. It's also useful to clear your extra zone so you can continue summoning extra deck monsters without having to actually lose the first one. And the monster would return to the main monster zone, so that's cool I guess. Helps synchro decks a lot. But, arguably, farfa accomplishes the same things, and it doesn't have to stay on the field to do it, but Sprite is also a tuner.

Aah, nostalgia. I used to play during the very first Generation with a deceiving Maju based deck. Basically my strategy was to keep getting my defense scrub monsters killed and sent to the graveyard. In due time, I used a Spell card or an effect monster to remove them from the Game, then summoned Gren Maju Da Eiza, who collected 400 Atk and Def from each of them, sometimes reaching a whopping 30k. What a gamble it was...any card that inflicted damage for each discarded monster could have defeated me in a single turn ( ex. Graverobber's retribution, If I remember correctly?) but boy was it fun to annoy people!

For fun, I used to make Character Deck Recipes on Tag Force! I did one each for Yugi, Atem, Joey, Kaiba, Jaden, Aster and Chazz! Now, I will eventually get round to Yusei and Jack, but the rules were simple: literally ANY card that chosen Duelist has, has had, has used or has ever possessed is valid for inclusion, but only one copy with the exception of Polymerisation and cards that person is KNOWN for having multiple copies of (i.e. Kaiba's Blue-Eyes White Dragon or Zane's Cyber Dragon)! I never even considered Magic Box for either the Yugi OR Atem Deck... Or Flute in Kaiba's for that matter... Fun side note: that little stipulation about any card being valid is why the Yugi and Atem Decks have a Blue-Eyes and Red-Eyes in the Side Deck (Blue-Eyes cuz for Duelist Kingdom he used Solomon's Deck and he was the first person we see who owned a Blue-Eyes, this was before Kaiba got his hands on his first one, Red-Eyes cuz he had one twice)! It's also why Ra is in Jaden's and Stardust will be in Jack's and Akiza's! They're fun little builds!

I remember a game back in middle school where one guy had a deck with decoy dragon. He put the hieratic lv8 normal monster in the grave then summon the decoy. What happens when you attack, is that your attack gets redirected to the revived hieratic, which dies because 0/0 stats, and it’s not once per turn, so your attacks mean nothing until you draw removal, which everyone’s decks didn’t have a lot of outside mirror force.

Premature Return is good for Shiranui decks since Shiranui monsters have banished effects. If you banish Spiritmaster, you pop a face up card your opponent controls. You banish Samurai, you add a Shiranui monster from your grave to hand. If you banish Solitaire, you SS a banished zombie monster or up to two if Synthesis is on the field. You need nothing if you banish Spectralsword and there's no need to banish Spectralsword since its graveyard eff makes you get Level 6, 8, or 10 Shiranui synchro monsters out.

Yeah, he most likely didn't play during that time because especially in 02-03, Flute of Summoning Dragon was a pretty good card - you could get both it and Lord of D. in the Kaiba starter and it was honestly pretty good because it wasn't that easy to special summon a bunch of stuff way back when.

2:34 I thought Dicephoon was a weird tech choice because it isn't guaranteed to blow anything up and it doesn't target so there's a handful of cards that can negate Twin Twisters and MST that don't work on Dicephoon. That and you could play it, then when your opponent doesn't chain destroy their facedown and if they DO chain destroy their face-up instead.

I'm pretty sure the card is there to be used with survival's end, not with UCT. So they attack into it, 3 tokens come out (if there is actually enough space for them) and then you use survivals end to summon 3 level 4 or lower dinos from deck.

interesting thing about re-cover, with only 3 cards in the extra deck initially, at a tournament your opponent probably has 5+ more extra deck cards than you! unless you have 8 pendulum monsters in there and your opponent didn't use any extra deck monsters on their turn, it's likely going to be able to go off :o happy new year!

Dicephoon destroys 5/6 of a spell/trap card and you get 333.3 damage on average so it really is bad. Just wanted to check mathematically because if it would destroy more then one s/t on average it would maybe be better then an mst.

D/d’s try to have cards that are effective in multiple different ways, so you could theoretically see multiple D/d decks each with their own win condition and ace monsters. Flexibility is a good thing, but the ones who specialize in modulating attack and defense points are the worst by far

Dicephoon made me think of a made up card. Then I looked around and realized it's a souped up amalgamation of Dice Re-roll and Second Coin Toss. Nonetheless, I ask you comment readers, would this be too op, good, or bad? Or does it basically already exist under a different name? Gambler's Paradise (Field) When this card is active on your side of the field, you may activate the following effects. - Once per turn, if you use a card effect that uses a coin flip or dice toss, you can choose to redo the coin flip or reroll the dice. If it is a coin toss which involved multiple coin flips, redo all of them. - When the effect of a card on your side of the field is activated by a coin flip or dice toss, you can choose to negate that effect unless the card was affected by the first effect of "Gambler's Paradise". This effect may be used once per card on each turn. Also, if the targeted card's effect is stated as "once per turn", it cannot be activated again this turn. The second effect is wordy in the interest of making it clear that, no, you can't just spam Time Wizard's coin flip until it works. You can stop it from blowing you and your front row up, but that's it. It can't be used in junction with the first effect in the interest of what I perceive as balance, so that you either have to push a double or nothing with volatile effects (Like Time Wizard or Dicephoon, go figure), or save it for non-volatile effects (like Barrel Dragon) so that you can cancel anything that would give you a hard time. Also, if any cards exist that use both dice and coins, then that's "coin flip and/or dice toss" in all cases.

I just want to put here less as a prove that said card is good and more that were ways to use a deck build around these cards in a successful way. I used to play a Decoy Dragon Deck and actually managed to top 8 two or 3 times in October/November 2007 (Perfect Circle, Zombies, Gadgets...). However the reason I won was because *I had flexible win condition.* Decoy Dragons effect never resolved unless someone attacked a monster I set and I activated *Staunch Defender* (of which little were aware at the time). Most of the time it allowed me to stall a turn or 2 for me to gather reasources such as Heavy Storm, Dragons Mirror, Future Fusion, Dimension Fusion in any combination. While it was relatively slow format, access to Future Fusion and Trade Ins made my deck relatively fast. Again I'm not trying to prove that Decoy Dragon is some sort of top tier or verstile card, not to mention I knew people will adjust soon as well as Glads were coming soon, but that it allowed me to learn how to smarter and the value to versitle deck. After that I switched to Red Eyes Darkness and Dark Counterparts.

Back when I played as a youngling... 15+ years ago I loved the flute. I just had went pure Dragon with flute, Lord of D. etc. Worked well in a casual scene. Yu Gi Oh nowadays seems a bit odd. Like graveyard being the 2nd hand. Traps being less and less useful. All these other types like synchro and pendulum. Clearly A LOT of time passed :p

Flute was always inconsistent and generally bad. As new ways to special summon were introduced it got even worse. And casual play is always different than competitive play: casuals don't know what they're doing while competitive players know what they're doing and are trying their hardest to win. You can't really compare the two.

Proud Ogre isn't the worst card in the D/D/D deck. I would go with Hope For Escape. You need to have LP lower than your opponent and you pay 1000 LP per card youwant to draw. This is terrible. Sure there are ways this deck could recover from it, but it is too risky for the potential reward and can backfire on you.

To be fair, re-cover, in the context that you stated, of just playing the deck out of the box, can get it's effect off, because the deck doesn't come with a big extra deck. It would be bad if you added to your extra deck with cards you already had, but you stated at the start of the video that you are looking at the decks in isolation xD
