Best use I've seen for this card was in a malefic deck. It was being used as a way to get some value out of all the high level bricks you need to run and the malefic monsters you don't plan on summoning. Usually hits the field with around 9000 atk points.

During early 2018, I used Montage Dragon in my Dark Warrior deck as an experiment, it was just an extender with the added benefit to keep my monsters in the grave, it is also a trade-in target like plasma and the other lv 8 D Heros. I took it out eventually. since it was only good as a combo starter or as a discard fooder, but after turn 1, it had no use

For DL players: This card is pretty useful on Duel Links for gem farming at the gate. Draw sense Earth + a bunch of high level monsters, lvl 40 joey, 2x rewards and have fun leveling up your characters

Note that you need to max out Trudge's level to get your only copy of the card... Otherwise, yeah, go nuts, though only with characters you have Draw Sense Earth with if you want to level them up.

If your plan is to level up characters, I‘d rather not use Montage Dragon for that. It‘s too slow, since you‘ll use level 10 duelists for saving keys. You‘ll be better off with a bunch of monsters which can be special summoned easily. for example: Red-Eyes, Blue-Eyes or basically any high-level normal monster, so that you can use ancient rules I prefer Red-Eyes since it has a lot of draw and discard options.

Montage Dragon is good because you're getting 7-8 chests against a lvl 40 duelist (2x Rewards), meaning that you'll very likely gain extra gems, SRs and URs not only Exp. Yes that's for old school players that have a ton of keys, but I think it's still the most optimal way to lvl up your characters due to the extra gems you gain.

Any extra gem income is good, you've got to think that those lvl up rewards gems are already yours. But yeah if you just want to lvl up your character, any otk strategy (koaki meiru, dragos, heroes) is very efficient

Can only be destroyed by light monsters, so that gives it better protection than Montage Dragon. It's not that hard to summon in a Dragon deck if you have the extra deck space for it. Five dragons isn't that difficult for a Dragon deck, BUT that also depends on what Dragon strategy you're running. Then again, imagine 3 5-Headed Dragons attacking directly when you don't have a mirror force down.... it can be scary sometimes, admittedly. Sometimes you need a big beater and well not much is getting over 5k. All in all, it's not that bad. It could be better, but at least it's better than the Egyptian Gods in terms of viability. Let alone Montage Dragon unless you discard the max level monsters you can for like 10800 atk. TL;DR: it's not that bad of a card, has better protection than most boss monsters similar to it in terms of atk, and it's relatively easy to summon and if your opponent doesn't have a light monster that can beat over it, they have to hope for an effect that gets it off the field. They won't always draw an out so they're basically screwed if they can't get rid of it

Saw the Video today. I run two Montage Dragons in my Malefic Deck. These guys got me through 3 Local Tournaments and do now recide as Lucky Charms in the Side Deck. Montage Dragon was a great addition for my Deck because it happened quite often that I got a bad Hand with either no Malefic World (or Terraforming...) or a bunch of the Monsters required to use their Malfic Counterparts. So I used Montage Dragon and got a huge Beatstick with mostly over 9600 ATK. (My Opponents Reactions were priceless!) And even if this Card is kinda useless by todays Standards, I'm sure I'll find another way to use the Card. Thank you for reminding me of the good times I had in the Past with my big boi. ;) I also subscribed to you. And please ignore the bad grammar, typings or misspellings.^^! I've used Montage (obviously not competitively), in the digital YGO games, and I just want to point out that having multiple copies of Montage is great, solely because Montage has so 8 stars, so you can use other copies of Montage as your sent monsters to boost the ATK of the one you're trying to summon. If you have three blue-eyes and any other monster, you've got a hand full of garnets, but if you have multiple Montages, one Montage can use the others. (I am of course aware that Blue-eyes can be summoned from the grave while those Montages can't.)

Because Nordics are required for the Gods, and the archetype is really slow not to mention they each need one of three variants, making them not work together and most likely require three monsters to do it. The Nordic Gods themself unlike in the Anime have to banish a Nordic meaning it will run out of fodder, it also can easily be banished or bounced or anything. Loki only gets rid of a single spell/trap on the feild, Thor only negates one monster effect. Odin is the only one worth anything and even then it quite simply isn't worth the effort and the archetype struggles to make it. So no. It has never seen competitive play, mostly because the archetype is required and is pretty bad and even if it pulls it off, it isn't particularly worth it.

I rarely played Montage (always for fun) for its on-field effects, but rather for the discard (although if the on-field effects won me the duel, oh well). Granted, this was back when Soul Charge was still legal to play. Have a BKB or two, and something else with decent attack plus decent effect such as Jinzo or with an effect that can be activated from the GY such as Dandylion (remember this was a while ago). Montage out, sending the others to the grave, and beat down with Montage for as long as it survives (likely no more than one turn). Then, next opportunity, Soul Charge to get all those beatsticks out of the graveyard. I also used it to get fodder in GY for Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of the End. Worked well in a Dragon deck with Dragon's mirror. I liked combo-ing Montage with The Creator as well, but again, in just for fun decks.

Yeah, I can see why it would be pretty flawed. I use it in a Yubel deck in Duel Links, and rarely ever get it on the field, but when it works, it works pretty well as a last resort if I just have 3 or 4 Yubel forms in hand (which has happened, the deck bricks a lot). As a side note, maybe do Jar of Avarice for a "Why Nobody Plays..." episode? On paper, it should be pretty decent with it adding 5 cards back to your deck and letting you draw one, so is it just held back by its Trap card status or is it just not as good as it sounds?

it's mostly because it's a trap and those are slow, but people played pot of avarice mostly for the +1, which jar of avarice doesn't give, while it can shuffle back any card i can't use it in my startup turn to refresh my deck and try for more extenders which pot of avarice can (or could since it's banned)

Tends to work well with a dragon mirror and a five headed dragon or a first of the dragons in your extra deck and then if they get rid of those utilising monster reborn/call of the hunted etc.

I'd also like to say that extra deck monsters can also be cheated out much easier than the gods or Montage Dragon as there is level manipulation, fusion substitutions, and resource management meant to cheat out good extra deck monsters that can only make it a minus 2 or even a minus one in rare occasions. Whereas you cannot use this resources for the gods and level manipulation, like a legendary ocean, would in fact hurt Montage dragon.

Because it's a neg 3, and it has literally no protection. At least if you sent 3 of the dragon rulers, you could still summon them.

Might be good in decks with darklords, infernity, zombie, nephthys, or lair of darkness. I guess any decks that deal a lot with getting cards into the graveyard from the hand.

I use this guy in my timelord deck. Pretty consistent way of getting a 9000ATK beater on board. Kinda catches opponents iff-guard, given timelord as effect endurance is a contrast to it's own effect.

Could use it in a deck that loves discarding or using graveyard effects, that way you just get added benefit from using those effects and you're technically not spending as much resources to bring it out. Kinda like Graceful Charity but instead of drawing 2 cards you get a beatstick. Still probably gonna get blown up, but the beefstick was the bonus in this case, while the discard was the actual effect you were fishing for. Not too sure how useful this would be in practice, but I can see it working.

This video has given me the desire to see someone try to pull off a Montage Dragon + EG card mix, like maybe see someone try to go second, summon Montage dragon, pitching Hero Kid to the gy, special summoning Hero kid with something from the gy, get the other hero kids from the effect, and then summon an EG and then lose anyway because it still sucks even if this would go off. But it'd be fun to see it happen.

Time for Konami to do what it does and throw a hundred new support cards at an old, dead card and make it worth playing. Give it a bunch of weak cards with high Levels to send to the GY who's effects trigger after being sent from the hand. If you had support that was all Level 10 (but with Level 2 stats) and you sent three of them things (insert dpYGO clip here), you got yourself a nice 9000 ATK monster, and then all three of those monsters could pop off Graveyard effects. Maybe have an Xyz monster that pops over Montage Dragon, using it as Xyz material, gains its current ATK, and then protects itself. Give me a couple Spells and a searcher, and suddenly Montage Dragon is in business.

Well its going into my Buster Mage deck.. Reasoning powers up Dark Palidan because until you hit Buster Blader or Dark Magician all cards sent will be sent. Yet if I dont get reasoning with all the protection Solemns and such I can still use it.

burning abyss all float, but they're low level. so you'd also need them to be high level. but then you're better off playing danger instead of this because it gets you draws. making this card's cost a discard would pop it into the danger dark world strategy because it would be a +0 in card economy and prbly give you a 4k+ body.

Super casual combo for this card you can cheese it out using draw cards like pot of desires and trade in play felgrand deck with double montage and send felgrand and other big dragons summons montage if you have monster reborn and other revival spells bring out your big dragons and otk your opponent

I like to side 1 Montage Dragon in my Timelord deck. Timelords tend to blow up everything often and leave my opponents field open. He makes up for much of the damage Timelords don't dish out. Still bad.deck and noncompetitive but fun.

Montage Dragon seems like a good card in theory, but in order to use it you have to give up monsters with a strong level multiplied by 300. I don't know about going a minus 3 just to gain a big attack advantage, but people play how they play sometimes. I still remember back to "On Your Mark, Get Set, Duel!" where that beast almost beat Yusei all by itself!
