The funny thing is that Italy wasn't a pushover nation, they had a pretty respectable military in WW2, so the fact that they lost so many times to so many different nations is either a Testament to the tactical prowess of Greece, Egypt, and Russia, The testament to how unprepared the Italian economy and military were for an actual war, or a Testament to the sheer incompetence of Mussolini and his High command.

Eh... Their military was woefully underequipped and using outdated equipment. Italy barely had 200 planes ready for combat operations, and most of them were inter-war or WWI era warplanes, unable to compete with more current Spitfires or Yak-3s. On top of that, Italy lacked any serious armored vehicles beyond slow and cramped tankettes armed with heavy machine guns and not much else. Italy's biggest asset was it's navy which admittedly was impressive. However, Italy's decision to lump most of its battleships together at Taranto led to their sinking by the British in 1940, costing them naval dominance in the Mediterranean.

as a Greek i can say this much for the Italians in terms of military: Pros: Brave soldiers,not bad weapon equipment especially their SMG's (can't say the same for LMG's),underestimated tanks that make others seem pathetic in terms of speed,mobility and mountain warfare (besides the Japanese tanks in the later.) not to mention CA P 40 could REKT American M4's in 1v1,impressive mountain soldiers in the Alpini,excellent air force and quite a fine naval armada. Cons:Awful leadership,bad planning (i mean who sends African war veterans...TO FIGHT IN THE GREEK MOUNTAINS?),use of chemical warfare (in Ethiopia) easy to have soldiers and civilians question leadership. all and all the Italian Army was a strong weapon. but give an AK-47 to a child and have it fight ancient Greeks,the result will be the same as the wielder dose not meet the weapons requirements. that is why they failed. That and the fact that we Greeks are USSR 2.0 in the defensive as long of course as we have any bullets left to fight in which case we are forced to fight like the Japanese which we were willing but the government would not let us. to this day the government is the biggest weakness for us Greeks but any new invasion would have the same result no matter even if it is the Americans. we are willing to make our nation a new Vietnam if need be.
