My name is Tim. I worked for an iheart Radio station. I’m the one responsible for getting the guitar signed when he visited our radio station 100.3 “The Edge” He was in town doing show. When he signed it he took pics of it & said “I better not see this guitar on eBay tomorrow” I have pics of Zakk signing it in the studio. He was in town doing a Zakk Sabbath Show. His “handler” was a total A-Hole. Mikey was handed back the signed guitar after Zakk left the 100.3 studio. FYI, it’s true that Mikey sent the guy the money in a money order & after a couple of weeks thought he’d been scammed. What a relief when the guitar did arrive.

That's a common theme; the artist is cool, the handler is a pos. I worked as a studio artist and side man back in the day, but it's a tale as old as time, even with the smaller artists; the circle surrounding them are obnoxious, but most of the artists themselves are really lovely people.

I dont know when they stamp the headstock in production, but I guess they decided to use, at least this neck, for this model? Seems like they wouldn't stamp the guitar serial number til it was complete... obviously before paint. I guess it wasn't originally designated? Maybe that's a piece of the 'A' puzzle Sort of a prototypeish? Perhaps 'B' just has one serial number. 😊

@@deanbartone8187 my guess would be that they took a leftover maple neck from a Gibson USA model based on the serial number that is under the finish and just finished it as a custom as an artist proof to get approval. Probably explaining the A

FYI, Zakk Wylde did NOT replace Randy Rhoads in Ozzy Osbourne's solo band. Brad Gillis replaced Randy Rhoads, he toured and recorded a live album "Speak Of The Devil" in November of 1982 before leaving to form Night Ranger and then Jake E. Lee joined Ozzy's band and recorded 2 studio albums 'Bark at The Moon" and "The Ultimate Sin" before leaving to form the band "Badlands" which is the time Zakk was audtioned and won the postition of Guitarist/Lead Guitarist and they recorded "No Rest For The Wicked" album in October of 1988.

Jake didn't leave Ozzy to form Badlands, he got fired by Sharon amidst petty squabbling among other band members (Lee wasn't involved, but Sharon was less than honest about who got credit anyway) over songwriting credits. There was a two year gap between his leaving Ozzy and Badlands getting on the scene. Given the status of being Ozzy's guitarist, I heavily doubt Lee would really quit his band to do other projects.

I love Zakk's playing and his sound with those LPs. And that's a very cool Zakk model. I love the natural fading into banana cream.

I think the A might be because there was an earlier run. All the way back in 1991 Ozzy played a run of Homecoming shows at the NEC in Birmingham, Music Exchange in Birmingham ordered some from Gibson UK which were possibly renecked in the London workshop. Zakk himself had one of those guitars. If you can go through an archive of Guitarist magazine they had a review. Someone must have a subscription.

You made it sound like Zakk replaced Randy, which he didn't. 1980s Randy Rhoads (1980-1982): Featured on "Blizzard of Ozz" and "Diary of a Madman." Rhoads is often credited with defining Ozzy's early solo sound. Brad Gillis (1982): Played on the "Speak of the Devil" live album after Rhoads' death. Jake E. Lee (1983-1992): Joined for "Bark at the Moon" and continued through "The Ultimate Sin". 1990s Zakk Wylde (1992-present): Initially joined for "No More Tears" and has been a significant presence in Ozzy's music, known for his distinctive style.

One major fact that people are forgetting when it comes to seeing Zack with Ozzy prior to recording any music together. The timing of when the Randy Rhoads tribute album came out and when they purposely introduced Zakk to the world where he played every song on the Ozzy tribute album which was released I believe 87. Prior to them recording any music together. So in my opinion you've left out a major fact. The first the world saw of Zakk with Ozzy was shredding every Randy Rhoads solo in Zakk's own style and many die hard fans did not like it. This is what they're referring to
