These two parters are always excellent. They have double the time to tell a story and it gets the main story forward. According to the X-Files wiki, Pendrell's first name was Sean and he appeared in 10 episodes. I liked his character and would have liked to see him more.

If Scully is beginning to believe, a large part of it is due to just how much she has come to trust this "weirdo agent relegated to the basement"! Their relationship has really become a solid one, built on trust and mutual respect! and I am enjoying that aspect of the story arc! And they genuinely (as far as fictional characters go) care for each other. That gift (key chain) at the end is an example of that. Also, Skinner is just beginning to be at the edge of their inner circle. But he has a ways to go! I am really enjoying your reactions!! I can't wait for the next one!!

I found this two-parter convoluted when I first saw it, and of course I was so upset about poor Pendrell and Max getting killed. I've come to like it much more on rewatches.

I was just heading home on train today and was pleasantly surprised to see you got a new reaction video up! ☺️🥰 I felt like you, shocked and very sad when Scully stated that Pendrell did in fact die... 🥺😭 I'm still upset the they killed him off nearly 30 years later. He was always nice to see, I was always happy when he was on screen. He did a great job and his crush on Scully was very cute... I think she was the only one who didn't notice 😂 even Mulder knew 😂😂😂. I also loved Scully's thoughts about Mulders (very cool) present, and I agree, she became more open to the possibilities. An "open minded sceptic", after all she witnessed a lot of not-to-be-explained-by-science stuff, and she respects Mulder deeply and knows he's often right. This two parter (and also some other prior episodes) also shows how much their partnership has grown in the nearly 4 years of working together, and how much they trust each other, as they both "exclude" Skinner 😂 (I'm missing the right word here, sorry, not my mother tongue...) I'm looking forward to your next video! Take care ❤

Man I haven't seen this show in so long. It was probably one of my favorites growing up. It was so big world wide that they released a movie sometime between season 5 and 6 and I remember seeing it in the theaters. So good. I think there was also two spin-off series called "Millennium" and "The Lone Gunmen" but oddly enough I never watched them so I can't say if they were ever good or not. I do remember them being popular though.

The Lone Gunmen was a spinoff. Millenium just took place in the same universe but only had one (and a half) crossovers with The X-Files.

Brendan Beiser, who plays the ill-fated Agent Pendrell, was deeply upset when he read the script to this episode and realised that he was going to get killed off.

Well fancy seeing you here, Jules. 💜 A welcome appearance And the top full of stars is lovely, and very fitting. A somewhat somber episode. Two characters, we barely saw, and yet they both left their mark on us. Agent Pendrell, and Max Fenig, both portrayed as somewhat goofy, at times annoying, but each, individually respected the main character they were associated with. I prefer to think Agent Pendrell, never has a first name. In a weird way, it makes his character, and his actions, more poignant, and more impactful, to my thinking anyway. Skinner seems to be dismissed by both agents here - "I don't think you want to know the answer."... "I think he got the connecting flight."🤣 I also liked the comment "They just want their Stuff back!" - a feeling much akin to how Juliette felt earlier in her Minecraft adventure... hmm. It gives me a vague idea of an idea. 😉🤭 A very thorough Outro. You covered all the thoughts and concerns which need be addressed and I agree with you on how you think things are heading. The new phrase "open-minded skeptic" seems a perfect way to describe Scully, as is the "Two steps forward, three steps back" feeling this show just keeps instilling. 🙌🙌🙌🥰 I very much enjoy thinking about your musings on the aliens sitting around - I envision them with coffee and cigarettes - sharing their best Mulder tales, the best of which have probably been related often, but never get old.🤣 One further thing about Scully and if she is "letting herself believe in these things now?" I think , in her own way, her thought on the birthday present from Mulder, was a nod to all of that "extraordinary men and women and extraordinary moments when history leaps forward... that what can be imagined can be achieved, that you must dare to dream, but that there's no substitute for perseverance and hard work and teamwork, and that, while we commemorate... we cannot forget the sacrifice of those who make these achievements and leaps possible. I think she is acknowledging, and pointing out that she is letting herself believe, admitting that all things cannot be known at the time of dreaming, but that due diligence is also necessary to prove the truth of the dreams - she is enforcing their teamwork, whilst remembering the folks that sacrificed to make it possible for them each to continue their work. She is sort of acknowledging Mulder's beliefs, her own place on the team, and honoring people like Pendrell, Max, and even, to some extent Skinner, who make it possible for them to continue seeking the truth. Tom 😺💜 Aww I like the idea of Pendrell having no known first name as well. It just makes his whole situation even more sad. "Who was he? Ah, some guy who had a thing for Scully. Powell? Pender?" I am pretty disappointed to see him gone. He was a lovely little side character, and I don't really know why they killed him off. He wasn't hurting anyone!! Let him be! Also, the same with Max. I feel quite sorry for him, too. Imagine being hunted like that your whole life and having everyone think you're just some weird kook. Poor fellow. At least he's in peace now and he won't be disturbed anymore. I wish he'd reached out to Mulder more. Maybe Mulder even feels regret for not checking in on him more often. He would have made a great addition to the Lone Gunmen. Ah, Tom, my Sunday was really quite not good 🤣 It gave me a headache yesterday and I've still got it today, so that's nice. @@julesreacts Call me a cynic, but I think the reason recurring characters get killed off so often in multi-episode stories is to counter criticism of the 'two steps forward, three steps back' aspect of the aliens/conspiracy plot thread. "How can you say there's been no progress when Mulder's dad/Scully's sister/Mr X/Pendrell/[insert character brought back for the sole purpose of bumping them off] is DEAD now?"

Considering how familiar this suddenly sounds, I'm a bit conflicted. That UFO interception sounds like a routine X-COM mission. I refuse to concede that I'm somehow evil if I keep the operations under wraps and make the minimal necessary sacrifices to give humanity a shot at continued survival.

Sad ending for both Max and agent Pendrell wasn't it :( ??. What i think was kind of a bummer was that we didn't get a cameo scene with the Syndicate. Because it is soo obvious that they were once again responsible for all of this. That is my only negative about this 2 parter.
