I consider this one of the best season finales, up there with Lost season 3 finale. It drove me insane to wait from May 1997 til November 97, neatly six months. But there was a very good reason why it took longer. As soon as the season wrapped, they went right into production for the feature film that would come to theaters the next summer after season 5.

Being a fellow Aussie, Jules, you'll appreciate this. I was climbing the walls for 6 months & for the last week before it premiered (you might even remember this), Channel 10, everytime they advertised it, had a countdown clock to when season 5 premiered. EVERYTIME I saw it, my excitement just multiplied. I'm so happy I get to take this journey with you. Watching your reactions, takes me back to being a teenager when it first aired. Can't wait for the rest.

Back then, I didn't even know a 5th season was already confirmed, or that a movie was on the way. So, for me, that was the final episode of the show (they didn't even include a "To Be Continued..." card there in the end!). The following week they were just having a rerun from an earlier episode. It was quite a surprise. months later, when I saw an ad for the premiere of season 5.

Jules!! I have just binge watched all of your X-files reactions, and I just need you to know how much I’ve enjoyed your reactions. It’s hard to describe the way this show had so many of us in a chokehold hold back in the 90’s. We didn’t have the knowledge that there would be over 10 seasons and two movies. The stakes were so high and the summers were so long. Thank you for continuing your reactions to the X-Files. One hell of a brilliant season finale. I live in Ireland, and when I saw this episode, a good 6-8 months had passed since it was shown in the US, and theories and spoilers had already been circulating the Internet for ages so the impact was slightly ruined on me. The following two episodes are seriously shocking though, with so many twists and turns, shocks, and tearjerker moments. I can't wait to see your reactions to them.

It's such a shame that you know the show continues for many more seasons. It's probably the biggest drawback of binging an older show. Although, I, for one, hate waiting a week for a new episode... and don't get me started on waiting for a new season! There are so many candidates at this point they would form a line out the door and down the street!🤭 As with the last, and as you mention him, I wonder where the heck Skinner was during all this? Gethsemane is a very appropriate title here, as there are so many betrayals going on. The FBI, Scully, her brother Bill, Mulder, the list just goes on. The acting in this one is superb. You feel the betrayal that Mulder feels, you feel the agony of Scully, as she reaches the end of her committee testimony, and I feel the reaction you have, to that ending! Wonderfully sad stuff.🥲 I too, like your devastation at the end - as the show has finally eroded your trust in anyone, and anything, except Mulder and Scully. A sublime moment of reacting you bring to every show you share in these many videos.🙌🙌🙌 Once upon a time - back a ways, you talked of taking an X-Files break at the end of this season. I don't know if that is still the case, but I would like to just toss out, for your consideration, that originally, when this bomb dropped, it was a full 26 Weeks before anyone saw the next episode. 26 weeks to let it roil in the brain, wondering WTH was going on. So there's always that to consider as well. I mean the precedence is set.😜 And last, but certainly not least, the return of your crew member 🐈‍⬛- tuning in on your confusion and distress. Popping in, when needed, and doing the magnificent casual stroll across the scene...🐈‍⬛ I think he would like a vine wrapped microphone of his own, as well. As regards taking a break, 26 weeks would be excessive, but (keeping things vague to avoid spoilers) starting season 5 mid-November would mean that Jules should reach an episode with a seasonal theme at around the appropriate time of year.

Tom 🤗💜 I actually think that I have NAILED it with my guesses for this one! It makes so much sense to me!! I just hope that I'm right haha. I may have to do a little smug dance 🤣 Believe The Lie but yes, which one? There's so many. It was such a good episode though, and I really feel for poor Mulder. He's been through so much. I'm surprised that he gets out of bed each day, to be honest. He's a strong man. I am still going to take a break between seasons but I don't know when I'll be back for more. I can't keep up with everything as it is, and it's affecting me physically and mentally. Since finishing editing the X Files episodes a few weeks ago, I'm still finding myself working long days and hours, however I have found that I now can find time to go for a walk once or twice a week which is very important. I don't want to be sat in that chair for 10-12 hours a day as it will slowly destroy me 🥹 I just hope people understand and if they don't, then maybe they don't care about me so I won't take it to heart. It can be really stressful, trying to run two channels. Some days I just want to curl up in a ball and forget everything but I keep going. Now I've made myself sad 😭😭 Thank you, dear Tom 🤗💜

Nothing to be sad about, Jules. You deserve more breaks than you ever take, and shouldn't feel guilty about that. It is easy for someone to be upset if you miss a drop, or don't do 3 episodes a week, or whatever. It's easy because they aren't doing any of it. And you shouldn't take it to heart. There are some who just wait on the channel so they can tell you what they think. The problem is, they attend every X-Files. Doctor Who, and Buffy channel and they say exactly the same things on each one. So they don't even make too much of an effort to comment. It is those few who may not understand, but I think the majority of folks here would be fine with you helping yourself for once, or even twice. I've said it enough to make you sick of hearing it - it's Your Channel, it is only what you do with it, and it's only great when you are doing exactly what you want, when you want. That will Always be true.🤗💜😉

I remember watching this fir the first time and then it ended and we had to wait for 5-6 month for the next season. Hey Jules! Trust me, you wouldn't have wanted to watch this with us back in the day. We had to wait almost six months for season five to begin and for this cliffhanger to be resolved! Season 5 is great, especially since it leads right into the movie at the end of it. The finale of season five is part 1, the movie is part 2, and the season six premiere is part 3! I can't wait for you to begin season 5! Also, there are two X Files movies - The X Files: Fight the Future (1998), which takes place immediately after the end of season 5, but before season 6, and The X Files: I Want to Believe (2008), which takes place after season 9, but before season 10. Can't wait to go on the journey with you! So are you going to jump right in to season 5 or take a break? Please don't wait too long! :)

Maybe then you can put X Files in Buffy's former slot and alternate between X Files and Angel. Just a suggestion. A very dramatic season finale. I hope you will continue with the X-Files reactions. Why would anyone go to so much trouble for a hoax? In the show, the authorities might have their own agenda, but in real life some people are just weird or try to benefit financially. During the past few years, people have found metal pillars in the strangest places in several countries. They found a 3 meter tall shiny metal pillar in the deserts of Utah and it was estimated that it had been there for several years before someone found it. I don't think they even today know who placed it there. So, why would anyone take the time to erect a tall metal pillar out in the wilderness where possibly nobody will ever see it? Most are probably just copycats who think it's funny, but who knows the motivations behind the first ones found. And there is a conspiracy that the US government doesn't really try to properly investigate the UFO and alien sightings, because if people are focused on the UFOs and think they are aliens, then the government can do their own shady business in the shadows.

You know, I can't help thinking that even though they DID have to cut the alien out of confirmed centuries old ice, a practical effects team had to make all of the alien and the internals that would be on screen and Mulder didn't see it in the ice, just in an ice cuboid. Sooo, from his perspective, doesn't mean it's real. Anyone could make a fake alien if they put enough time, effort and convincing enough materials into it.

I hope this warning proves unnecessary, but given the absolute mess made of the VHS video release of season 5 back in the 1990s, I can't take for granted that your source of episodes has done the sensible thing. When you move on to season 5, please make sure to watch the episodes in broadcast order rather than production order. Otherwise you'll get stand-alone episodes intruding into the middle of multi-part narratives a couple of times, and getting an unrelated story instead of the cliffhanger resolution you were anticipating can adversely affect your enjoyment of the show.

I'm not understanding how keeping up with X-Files reactions is so taxing, yet you can upload reactions to Buffy and Angel on the regular. Is it about views? X-Files was a great show, certainly more intelligently written than Buffy and Angel (however entertaining some may find them). I honestly don't get it.

You don't get it because you're not the one doing it. You're not the one spending HOURS per episode to edit. I have cut back to 3 reactions per week as I no longer wanted to sit at my desk for up to 12 hours a day, watching my physical and mental health decline. Now, I have been able to go for walks and spend time with my family. I'm not a robot that churns out content, I'm a normal person ☹️

I think what gibsongirl2100 was asking was since you needed to take a break from one of the shoes you react to why did you choose X-Files over Angel, Buffy and Dr. Who. Was because it had the lowest views or was it something else? They could have asked it more respectfully though.

@@Keendogg5276 Yeah, a lot of people seem to think that my feelings/thoughts/wellbeing don't matter. The X Files was the series that people watched the least on the channel, week after week. If the videos didn't take me so long to edit, I wouldn't mind. Each episode takes me HOURS to edit. Something had to go, I was struggling in many ways. I'm doing much better now.
