Sinister inclusion is both the original sin and snake for the downfall of Krakoa. Sins of Sinister is the final straw that starts the Fall of Krakoa. It is essential to explain the Dominion stuff. It is confusing and how he gets away makes no sense and is terrible.

Some say the bench scene with Moira and Proffesor X was the most important part of this whole event, and they say they botched it... Meaning this scene was supposed to be one of the most impactful comic book scenes ever. So its messed up that one of the greatest comic book events was ruined or lost siggnifigance, and an obscure characters biggest moment was mishandled, if history records this scene as underperforming.

I think it’s probably the most important overall yeah, and maybe my favorite? It’s incredible.

Bench scene gives chills even knowing everything that comes after

The story went from S to D at various points, so an overall B is fair.

For me, Krakoa will forever be "The arc that tried to be more"

Hickman raised the stakes and the krakoan era showed us what they were fighting for so much so that they extended the story years longer. Glad we got all of it even tho i didn't like all of it.

Yeah, I just wish it felt as cohesive and propulsive throughout. They lost something after Hickman left that they never got back. Not even the quality of his writing necessarily, but the feeling that this was all working cohesively.

@@TheComicsPals agree that the propulsion fell off but each team/book definitely had something I liked, and there was a sense that they all worked towards the benefit of krakoa in some way even if they weren't all playing off one another as much as the beginning Dawn of x. I'd have signed up for immortal/X-Men red to go forever, and am glad Percy got to see xforce through, hellions and Excalibur will be a great example of how fun and out there you can take some of the characters.

The Comic Pals - If you could give a percentage of books that was none needed excess, what would be the percentage. I'm only asking because you seam to all agree there were many uneeded books, and within many books it seams like there was a whole bunch of ecess ideas.

That’s a tough question to answer as far as any specific percentage. My barometer for what is “excess” will certainly differ from another person based on whatever our individual criteria are. My percentage of purchased books from the Krakoa era probably hovers over 40% taking into account everything they consider to be within that era.

I loved the idea of powers of x. Moira reincarnating and losing the battle against AI each time and trying something different was really fun and interesting to read. It opened up philosophical themes like fate vs free will, transhumanism and inevitable doom of humanity. Unfortunately, as time passed, they convoluted the story too much and it became bloated in the end. Sheer number of books they pumped out was kinda exhausting and intimidating. This whole event should have been something like age of apocalypse. Happened and retconned to alternate universe. Imho time travel and resurrection in comics should be a no-no. House of x and all things related to island nation left a bad taste in my mouth.

I think all of the things you liked about the story initially are the same things that I did. It just felt like a lot of the propulsion and intrigue was lost once Hickman was no longer involved. That's not totally true as there are some real standouts post Hickman, but it certainly doesn't feel the same. I wouldn't trade out the Krakoa era, warts and all, for something else though as in all likelihood whatever they would have (and are) replacing it with wouldn't be dealing with such high concepts.

I agree with the overall B grade. I have to say though, I loved Sins of Sinister and thought it was brilliant.

@@TheComicsPalsI liked how the three main titles of the event felt relevant to each other as it continued to the end. The nightcrawler clone storyline which felt like the outlier compared to Gillen and Ewing’s titles but I was more emotional tied to that storyline, and turns out it was one of the determining factors to undo the timeline. Madame Righteous as a character was in the spotlight (before she overstayed her welcome in the fall of X era). Seeing Sinister reaping what he sows, the introduction of Rasputin IV, proper. Lastly, while it was an alt future that was undone, the after effects mattered due to Rasputin IV getting to the present, which propelled the plot after the event. Plus all the bombastic action that in between. While in this live you guys mentioned was this event necessary, most usually aren’t, but this one felt like an epic, and had consequences by the end.

@@UltimatePower01 Fair assessment! I'm toying with the idea of rereading it even though I largely did not have a good experience with it the first time around.

Loved this era and will always think back on it fondly, but granted I definitely checked out for portions of the run because of disappointment with how Sinister and Moira felt like they had their stories and motivations shifted in big ways. In the end, the story became too big for its own good and the heavy leaning on the annual Hellfire Galas and melodrama on the island instead of building towards a bigger and more satisfying conclusion with either Nimord and Orchis or Apocalypse and Arrako feels like a real letdown to me. Still enjoyed the conclusion to Hope’s story that had been a mainstay of X men comics since Messiah complex and the Genosha stuff. Makes this Krakoa era feel like it did move the continuity forward in a big way Hope if there is ever a return to Krakoa, its really well thought out and sticks to a crafted plan that can’t be so easily derailed if external factors work against it like with what happened with Hickman and the Marvel Upper Brass. Most importantly, great video guys! Love this type of discussion from you all and you really knocked it out of the ballpark with how you organized this type of breakdown into such a compressed and easily digestible way no matter how you have felt about the X Men in the last 5 years !👍🏼🔥

The character I can’t believe I didn’t mention in this video is Hope. I LOVE HER and have really enjoyed her journey over the years. Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed this. Appreciate you!
