X-Men Krakoa Post-Mortem: An Uncanny Dream With A Nightmare Ending

This video is a post-mortem and an overall breakdown of the end of the Krakoa era in the X-Men comics. What started with House of X/Powers of X and ended with Fall of X, the X-Men underwent some of the biggest upheavals the franchise has experienced since the Chris Claremont era. It laid a new foundation unlike anything we'd seen before with the X-Men.
Then, Fall of X came and brought it to an ugly, destructive end.
There's a lot to be said about the Krakoa era, what led up to it, and what will come after it. I do my best share my sentiments, my hopes, and what this era means to me and other X-Men fans. Enjoy!

While I'm not the biggest fan of the Krakoan era, I do agree that it's end should have been handled better. Some of the tie-in felt half assed as hell and Marvel is just chucking a lot of the mutants away to the white hot room to be forgotten about

You couldn't have said it better, when the Krakoan Era began I was over the moon, the X-Men and the entirety of the mutant race were finally getting the vindication that they deserved after all the bad things that came after the Genosha massacre, only to see it crumble like this is painful.

I feel that marvel most likely pushed for this so that new fans brought on by their new xmen media l, in particular wolverine and deadpool as well as xmen 97, have a new jumping on point without having to worry about all of the past history

This was an eloquent analysis and break down of the era. I just finished collecting Hickman's Krakoa run from HoX/PoX through Inferno. I have no desire to read or collect anything beyond that. I definitely make a distinction between the post and pre Hickman leaving era and consider them two different projects essentially. Even with the utter destruction of the project by the creatives that came later I still find the premise and foundational start to the era so inspiring. Experiencing the mutants, and mutant culture, outside of the paradigm of human hate still feels so refreshing and I'll forever be grateful to Hickman for such an ambitious and high concept take. Looking forward to the from the ashes era it is clear that character development during Krakoa is being ignored (look at Apocalypse for example. At the end of Krakoa he realized that his philosophy might actually not be what's best for mutant kind. This should shake him to his foundations and we should see an En Sabah Nur that is really trying to figure out what he truly believes, who he truly is. Instead he's throwing a tournament...to find a new Apocalypse...for reasons that make no sense with his recent character development...). I'm a life long X-Men fan. I inherited this love from my parents. Krakoa was my first time buying X-Men comics. Prior to this the only series I've considered collecting is "Y The Last Man." Coming from reading Brian K. Vaughn Marvel comics feels so disjointed and disorganized. I just don't think I'll be collecting anymore X-Men comics in the future or continuing with this new era. With that said I will always have Hickman's Krakoa and that's a pretty beautiful place to be.

This has been one of my least favorite eras in the history of X-Men comics, deapite how strongly it started with HoX/PoX. It has been downhill since. And what choice is there to get out of this era but to completely destroy it? Sales have been in the tank, most fans abandoned the concept, and it goes too far with how it advanced the status quo. Best to burn it down and start over,.IMO.
