I'm pretty sure State of Decay 3 was showing gameplay when it transitioned into shooting and dismemberment. They've moved it to UE5, so it just looks high fidelityt and they're not going to put HUD elements in a trailer that tries to blend cinematic style with a look at the gameplay. Just picture that with UI onscreen, the way the series plays getting a step up. Doom Dark Ages didn't have any HUD on-screen either. I'm sure there will be plenty of extended footage of people playing the game close to release.

I bought a switch instead. It has actual games an no casino tactics. Xbox has nothing to offer. Open world games have been done- original Fables were ok especially the co op aspect. However it will be like 30 other games that came out since? I can almost bet every game on here including Gears will have Casino tactics like DLC Packs, Season passes and Skins like Fortnite. Not hating if you are into that kind of stuff but I am from the before times when you console just played the game..without crashing or updating for 2 hours...or constantly throwing ads in my face when I just want to play a game. Xbox will be the New Dreamcast

Perfect Dark has always been considered a spiritual successor to Goldeneye, same with Timesplitters, and since we aren't getting a new Timesplitters game anytime soon, they really should have made the new Perfect Dark game stick with that style of FPS, I'm sure longtime fans would have loved that

They might not have shown games of your personal preference. But to say this wasn't a great showcase isn't exactly a fair assessment. They had a variety of shooters, RPGs, adventure and horror. I was impressed particularly with Perfect Dark which is a pleasant surprise when you consider the development trouble that game has been through.

Gears of War E-Day surprised me by virtue of the fact Microsoft remembered Gears for once. The low point for me however goes to Cuckhold Dynamics for that “thing” that dared call itself Perfect Dark🤮Hope they rebalanced the gameplay for Doom Dark Age because I didn’t like what Eternal did very much.

This might be a record-it took me just 30 minutes from subscribing to unsubscribing. I got recommended a video by Griffin Gaming about studio closures, and at the time, I would have agreed with his point of view. I wanted to hear his thoughts on the showcase, but he claimed one of the best showcases to date was bad. His biggest complaint is about the release dates of games, and it seems he hates every genre of games. It's as if he doesn't understand the purpose of each Xbox events. The Summer Showcase sets the roadmap, Gamescom does deeper dives, and the Developer Direct at the beginning of the year drops the release dates/windows for the upcoming year. I guess Xbox hate gets clicks.

Doom, Gears of War, Stalker 2 were the most interesting to me. Black ops 6 looked quite nice as well. The rest left a lot to be desired. Definitely the best summer showcase overall, Sony didn't do a proper one this year and SGF was complete trash. Perfect Dark I used to be hyped about, but this latest gameplay dropped that hype. Avowed looked...well I don't know how to describe it, but it sunk my interest in the game. State of Decay 3 I'll be keeping my eyes on, even though it had minor bits of gameplay and was a majority cinematic gameplay. South of Midnight was...meh. Indiana Jones is something I expected to see more of, it looked decent. The rest I wasn't really interested in, Flight Sim looked incredible graphically and I know there's going to be people that love, but it's not my kind of game. It's a B showcase from me, it lacked a lot of gameplay. A big W for Xbox for once, good work.

Almost everything was gameplay. Fable was gameplay, and even the State of Decays 3 trailer had gameplay in it which I honestly thought was cgi until I rewatched it. Xbox games are just looking incredible right now.
