This was my first plane I flew in FS2020. it was so simple to learn and I hadn't played any flight sims in the past few years it is just sooo intuitive!

Just a few comments based off of what I've learned in my own MSFS experience. * The fuel mixture shouldn't just be set randomly. The checklist says that rich is 100% and the appropriate fuel mixture for an altitude can be determined by watching your tachometer. When it goes up, your mixture is getting closer to optimal. When it goes down, your mixture is getting further away from optimal. * I am not 100%, but I don't think that the autopilot's VS wheel and trim wheel are the same thing. Either way, you should probably use the trim instead of VS. * When you set the altitude, autopilot doesn't pick it up at all until you set it to altitude mode. I have also seen that in some aircraft, they don't actually hold an altitude you set until you get to the appropriate altitude, but this may be a bug(?). Instead, you should set it to vertical speed mode and set the vertical speed. The autopilot seems to set to altitude hold mode once you've reached the set altitude (be careful about adjusting altitude as you are in VS mode if your new altitude will pass your current altitude while setting, it might switch to altitude hold mode at your current altitude). I think that's all that I saw. Anyway, good beginner tutorial. It's much better than what I used to learn autopilot (virtually nothing).

Oh, also you don't need to spin your mouse when changing values with knobs. MSFS really only cares that you clicked in the right place and that you're still holding the left-click. If you spin, you're probably going to end up spending additional time correcting when you later try to increase more because you stopped a little too early.

Ofc addtionial and corrective information doesnt get appreciated... You are right with everything you said. But this seems to be an arcade gaming channel not a sim channel so no wonder you wont get credited. 🖖

Definitely jumping in on this when VR is supported. I'm glad they implemented an interactive checklist. Something that DCS should try to do. Great video as always! Sounding like Bob Ross at the end there 😆 I dig it

If I met the medical requirements to become a pilot, I'd want to fly an X-cub. This thing looks fun to fly in the sim and it must be amazing to fly in real life.

x Cub and savage cub are the absolute best, savage cub is slower but a lot lighter and takes off really really quick and lands in pretty much everywhere, xcub is for slightly more "advanced" pilots who are comfortable landing in tight spots and are comfortable with their flight "skills" I suggest learning in the savage cub for a bit then working your way up to the xCub

Im a student pilot and used to do lots of simming in fsx before I went to flight school. After msfs came out i am getting back into simming when the stupid honeycomb hardware can come back in stock. I am for sure gonna use the xcub when i first start just to get comfortable in the world of sims even tho i knoew the cesna 172 to heart, great video!

Thanks for the video, just getting into MSFS as my first flight sim and it helps a ton to have aircraft specific guides. Going to be starting the Patagonia bush trip with the XCub soon. FYI, both of those airports are in Nevada, I used to do Autocross at Reno/Stead airport.

So happy to find this. I'm also looking at the SCUB for bush trips and fun flying but never got clear on the use of the autopilot. Thanks for making the essentials of autopilot usage more clear to me especially that NAV button. I noticed you were using the VS controls as trim adjust?

Nice intro to flying the XCub in MSFS, but as a licensed pilot I know I speak for many aviators in that I cringed most of the time. Don't try most of this in a real aircraft. :)

@15:30 that's not the trim it's the autopilot vertical rate adjustment dude. I dont think it does anything unless your VR or altitude is switched. The trim adjustment is on top of the joystick check the AoA if trim or throttle is the best solution for level flight @16:20 LVL director switch doesnt mean it's gonna be flying level, it's gonna make you flight straight aka maintain your attitude with the horizon - at this point your VS was 250ft/m as seen as the smaller digit on the left of the altimeter ok this is just a short summary but you can get the heading and altitude and vertical speed to be managed by the AP but you probably made another video. I just want to tell viewers to not take anything you said as face value about anything in that AP control area LOL
@mamophoto
@mamophoto 3 жыл бұрын
Ehem? 15:21 this is not the Trim wheel isen't it? This is the Weel for Vertical Speed. The Trim Weel ist on the top of your Flightstick.

not how you fly a xcub at all. for example on take off you push the stick forward to get the tail up as soon as possible you should have the tail up and rolling on front wheels only in the first 2-3 seconds. you also landed way way to fast. the whole point of an xcub design is teasing aoa/stall horn all the way to the ground the last few hundred feet of alt. land at 40-45 kts max/when on the ground and the left is gone pull the stick fully back . you should be able easily be able to come to a full stop in 150 feet or less. watch people land this in real life.
