one thing I like about mix is that I can't kill it's battery in one day. i play games and I watch content all the time. this thing has marvelous battery life. it longevity easily outshines any smartphone I've used.

I've had this phone for 3 weeks now, running on Project Fi in NYC and California. It's an amazing phone. Agree with your assessment of the cons, but it's my daily driver and a pleasure to use once TWRP is installed, it's rooted and Google Apps are loaded with the MIUI EU beta ROM. Great review

Watching this on my Xiaomi Mix 256gig 6gig version with the gold trim. Coming from the S7 Edge I think this phone is amazing. I got the global version with all the Google stuff pre installed and it does have the US option when first turn on. Not a single Chinese word on it. No bloat were either.

Cristian Noel yes the design and I thought it would not be functional but it is very much a practical phone. A little big but I have big hands and it's a tiny big bigger than my 6S. Also I am pleasantly surprised by its software. It's incredibly intuitive. This is my first Chinese brand phone.

With a phone like this, I will happily take a different aspect ratio. Chances are, video immersion isn't going to vary much between this and your average 5.5 inch phone with 16:9. I don't understand the hatred of bezels. I mean, yeah, some phones have bezels that are too big (I'm looking at you iPhone and Google Pixel) but I've also found that getting rid of bezels in some cases causes the phone to be difficult or awkward to use, like the S7 Edge. I think we need a little bezel, especially up top for things like a proper ear piece, correctly positioned camera, and so on. But, I suppose, it is a neat concept.

I own the 6GB 256GB, there is absolutely no issues with the ultra sound sensor or the call sound. Standing next to my wife speaking on the Mix, I can't hear the other party. There is no real difference from any other phone in this regard, in my opinion.

Micheal i really like your reviews but for this one i have few complaints. First of all many China brand manufacturers shipp phones with rich package this includes cases tempered glass and so on. I would say that Xiaomi is "worst" about that. Second i don't know did you checked but did you had real international ROM or customised China version? because that is usually a problem with not relayable gapps performance. And about gmail notifications, go in security app and give permission to apps which you want to stay in background always. Keep a great work!

Rickbearcat Like 10,000 people every month? The production volume is 10,000 per month, and sold immediately whenever the sales reopen. There's obviously stockists who obtained some units and make a profit for it, but you get my point. The first month, the price goes up to 20,000 RMB in China, that's 3000 USD. There are many people who don't really care cellphone camera. I never use cellphone camera in low light situation, because no matter how good the cellphone camera is, it's not good enough. It's not everyone can hear you kind of bad, but you will mind the privacy in a quiet room. For me I only occasionally hold the phones to make calls, most of the time is with the headset. For me it's not bad at all, and I see many people share my user habits too. And I couldn't care less for the bands, Xiaomi's phones works for me in China and in France, so it's OK for me. The world is not centered around United States, and it's not intended for US market anyway. Granted it's not for everyone, most other Chinese smartphone makers' flagship units sell at the quantity of 7 to 10 millions, Samsung and Apple sell more, other non-flagships usually goes beyond 20 millions marks. So assuming XIAOMI MIX continue its production for a total 12 months, that's only 120,000 units, a fraction of XIAOMI's other models, let lone those of the competitors. This kind of volume can be sold very easily. I don't see why you think it's outrageous.

the finish doesnt scratch easily at all though due to it being made of ceramics, its actually really lovely cleaning off the back of the phone to see this pristine back that reflects as much as a mirror.

Thanks for another stellar review Michael, still looking into getting this device one way or the other. Preferably the 6GB RAM and 256GB storage option one as that will definitely bode well for day to day activities.
