Here is my theory on the whole Tiger Drop meme 1. kids that grew up on action movies and Chuck Norris Facts are now adults and some are gamers 2. Those young adults want to find some medium which is filled with fisticuff action, not Marvel CGI and superpower BS, along with some absurd humour. 3. They come across Yakuza series and find what they wanted...somewhat.(or maybe more including a truckload of Majimas) 4. Then they find Kiryu and his Tiger Drop. 5. They immediately project Chuck Norris and Roundhouse Kick onto Kiryu and Tiger Drop and immediately go on to make Kiryu the Chuck Norris of the gaming world. Done.

For the Yong Yea stuff, an additional factor for the fandom drama is that Kiryu already had an English VA (aka Darryl Kurylo) in Yakuza on PS2 who came back for Y:LAD after 15 years or so, therefore one can understand the unfairness of a VA replacement, especially for an older incarnation of Kiryu (tho according to Kurylo, SEGA wanted Kiryu to be voiced by someone of asian descent, which is a fair point also).

For hate part, There's explanation for each one. -Blockuza 3 part was mostly a problem since OG version but it's getting worse in remastered vers since it's really messed up AI so bad they blocked more often. And they nerfed quickstep cancel distance which was powerful move against blocking enemy on early games. So yeah, Enemy do block a lot. But there's also plenty other way to deal with it. Wallbounding combo, Weapon, Blades weapon or grab abusing, You named it. At the end of the day, People do button mashing alone and expect it to work on blocking enemy are really stupid. -For Infinite Wealth, People love this game for gameplay but hate for plot. Concept sound great : Redemption arc of Kiryu, Finding Ichi's mom, Test Ichi by putting him in same situation as Kiryu was during Kiwami and see how he will deal with it, Kiryu correct his past, Seeing how Yakuza's existence affect outside world as a whole. Except they executed it really badly. Yes, Gameplay is fun but they seem to forget what make Yakuza great is story, Not gameplay. Not to mentioned there are so many pointless scene compared to previous titles, Weird ending part where they try to make us feel empathy with character who did bad thing then never show up again until the end, Abrupt ending. Story feel really weak compared to 6, Gaiden, 7 or Lost Judgment. Not to mentioned they also made really weird decision, Putting NG+ mode behind paywall. There are also really stupid fake-woke controversy caused by people who don't even play the game to see real context behind those words and try so hard to say like "Oh my god she's hardworking woman!?!?!? RGG GONE WORK THEY FELL OFF FRFR" which make me facepalm like a lot. Me? I don't really hate these two. I mean I still enjoy them for being whatever they are. They are flawed games, But that doesn't mean I have to hate it just because other did so. You know, Something about being yourself 'til the end lol. I still love some story aspect of IW and like to see more goofy side of Ichi and love feeling of combo in 3.

idk if i agree with the takes in the video, but its an amazing watch still. Love to see people just talk about the series in general, since it gives a different perspective from what i experienced. I personally found all the games to be amazing, basically at least 9/10s or 10/10s all the way through. The complaints people have i also find to be generally just preferences and never any objective criticism. Its also great that its an expanding franchise, i wouldn’t call it niche anymore, even if its not the first franchise some people would think of when thinking about games. Also the community is basically THE best and most inviting community i know, there is no discrimination or room for it in the fandom, which is probably one of the reasons it is able to just mess around with for example the like a dragon meme. Getting into the series is one of the most changing moments of my life, and its amazing how just playing some games can change how you percieve life itself. Also 10 years in the joint, john yakuza, i am like a dragon, blockuza, rubber bullets, kiryu never kills and we are the yakuza 4 (yakuza fans trying to resist using memes challenge impossible)

A lot of people oppose change, not because it's just a change, but because they've seen what happens to other franchises when they go mainstream. By having more people join, any edginess starts getting censored, as it'll be more problematic. Some new "fans" will demand changes to either fit their fantasies or make changes for the sake of changes. 10:20 Now I can't speak for everyone but the main reason people don't like Infinite Wealth is the same reason they don't like Yakuza: Like A Dragon: They aren't brawlers anymore. 17:50 Look the problem here is not that Yong Yeah is a celebrity or a youtubber, he's actually a really good voice actor and did a fantastic job in Jojo. The problem is that he just isn't fit to dub Kiryu, it's that simple. 19:00 It's not about change in of itself, change is good. It becomes a problem when said change takes away the elements that made the series famous or good to begin with. Like I didn't mind the protagonist being changed, I kinda grew to like Ichiban. Not as much as Kiryu but still. I didn't mind a change in scenery either, there's only so many times you can roam the streets of Kamurocho before it starts getting dull. I did, however, mind the change to one of the core elements of the franchise, that being the combat. ESPECIALLY since the in game reason they gave for said change is idiotic and only gets worse as the series goes on
