The 600 class was the perfect size. I started on an 06 R6. What I think was the most beautiful R6 to date. Low power below 8K rpm and as soon as you hit 10K she would take your breath away. Yamaha has been an innovator in the bike world. I believe R9’s triple, will replace the 600 class.

My man you see !!! Obviously you know what I think but if you can 10k rpm acceleration from the r6 at 5k rpm on a triple that sounds like a good time to me b

I find it silly that everyone is comparing the R6 to the R9 when R9 has 50 precent more engine capacity It's like every one is trying to make the R9 look good. When you compare it to the R1 with much closer engine capacity it gets destroyed. I think the R9 is much closer to the R7. It's a supersport based on a naked bike for street use

With that same logic why are we not comparing the 600 supersports to the RS660? Or the Daytona 660? The GSX8R?

It has 1 entire cylinder less? The Panigale V2 competes with the 600 class and is a 2 cylinder 955cc bike?

That’s not entirely wrong. But this bike isn’t meant to be a flag ship super sport. It’s 120 hp not 200. So comparing it to an r1 is fairly unreasonable. It’s fair to say you can’t really class bikes by displacement anymore the r7 is proof. But. This does has 30hp more than the r7 so it’s right inline with where the r6 sat when it comes to power. So it’s a logical comparison. 119 compared to 117 with torque is a lot more seasonable than 117 to 180-190 what ever the r1 makes. That’s are 2 different classes of power regardless of displacement.

@NostalgicMotorcycles 2 ай бұрын
I would, well I did as a blanket example. As far as tech and features the h2 and zx10 both get them. And the zx4 does not have full electronics and the suspension is designed differently as well it’s not as aggressive as a full on 600 which is cost savings as well. Still stands true even considering those.

Lame clickbait. Ah yes it will be slightly faster than a 600 and only needed nearly as many CCs as a litre bike to do so. As a 900cc it doesnt even make as much power as 900cc motorcycles from the EARLY 90s. The people complaining about 600s not having power at the bottom just simply cant ride. Its not that you HAVE TO rev it out. Its that you GET to rev it out.
@NostalgicMotorcycles
@NostalgicMotorcycles 2 ай бұрын
lol have and get is a matter of opinion bro. I agree with the get to but once you ride a bike where downshifting is not required you see a better world. And not loosing power to do it makes it that much more appealing. Not sure if you’re aware but more cylinders = more power period. That’s why 3 liter v12 in f1 make more power than 3 liter v6 Honda engines. When comparing a 90s 4cyl 900 it makes less power because it’s one less cylinder. Literally can’t make as much power. That’s how engines work
@haste953
@haste953 2 ай бұрын
Yeah but even that slightly faster how? It doesn't have the top end so technically it's not faster and if it was better in the hands of a professional on the track then we would've been using triple cylinder engines on pro racing instead of 4 cylinder engines since a long time.
@haste953
@haste953 2 ай бұрын
@@NostalgicMotorcycles Also you're wrong, cylinder amount is not relevant to power in most cases, what matters is displacement and how the engineers made the engine, you can't just determine it by looking at the specs. Look at the Panigale V2, almost the same displacement as the Mt09/R9 and makes 30 more horsepower and more torque but then the 1299 was also 2 cylinder and made 200hp just because the cc amount was higher. The V2 has one less cylinder and makes more power and the cc is not even 100 more. Look at the triumph Rocket 3, 2500cc triple and makes 165hp but then a 17 year old CBR1000RR makes 10 more horsepower with 1500 less CC. Look at the SuperDuke 1290 not even the 1390, makes 180hp and has 2 less cylinders than said CBR, even a brand new R1 has 200hp and has only 20 more hp than the SuperDuke 1290. Even going further beyond, the Super Duke 990 the one before the 1290 was 999.8cc has 1 less cylinder than the Mt09/R9 and makes 120hp and it also was a V2 engine. More cylinders is not more power, if that was the case then supercars which supposedly have the best of the best would be always better, the Ferrari 458 made 561hp but then a Huracan lp580 with 2 extra cylinders is only making 573. if that was true then the Diablo with its V12 wouldn't make only 485hp. Also the Lexus LFA wouldn't make around 560hp with its V10. Cylinders mean nothing, it's how you have configured your engine + your displacement, even worse example for your argument is the new Corvette C8 Z06 which has 670hp on a V8. Even to give you a more recent car the Aventador with 1000 more cc and 4 more cylinders makes 30more hp than the Corvette. And that was Lamborghini's flagship until recently. This is exactly why a supersport with a 599cc 4 cylinder engine makes more horsepower (even more with a couple of mods) than a 890cc triple. The 4 cylinder revs out to 16 000 but that doesn't mean you don't have power down low to move. To even further prove my point this is why people just getting into motorcycles think a CBR650R is better than a CBR600RR just because its got 650 instead of 600 in the name. You can't just look at the name or cylinder amount you have to look at EVERYTHING

You don’t know the top end. There isn’t an official power number. We haven’t seen a power curve. All of that is assuming it’s identical to the mt09 and the mt07 and r7 have different gearing and power numbers. It’s a safe bet to think the r9 will be different. But no one really knows. Assumptions is all that is.

@@NostalgicMotorcycles you might want to research a bit more. We basically know where the R9 will be on power and it won't complete with a true super sport like the 750. The value for power is much higher with the 750. The R9 will be a great daily sport bike, but a super sport it is not
@NostalgicMotorcycles
@NostalgicMotorcycles 2 ай бұрын
There is a reason you said “basically”. And that reason is we don’t actually know as numbers haven’t been released. However I see your logic mt09 similar to that it’ll be close, I get it. R9 is going to be a good bike. Period. I personally think it’ll be better than a 600. Will it be better than a 750 🤷🏽‍♂️. Opinion. As we don’t know yet no one’s ridden one (r9). Will the 750 make more power. Maybe. We can settle with probably if it makes you feel better. Doesn’t change that it’s going to be a good bike. This is a your not going to be happy regardless of what happens situations. 600/750/1000 lived a solid amount of time up top. They made the same bike for basically 15 years. It’s good enough. Now we are getting different engine that were rare 15 years ago triples were hard to come by and now we get them. V4 are going to take over now as well give it a few years. Those will get complaints eventually too.

@@Auji_CG There is kind of a problem with your "fact". Problem is Yamaha did not say the r6 and r1 are being replaced ever. that word was never used by Yamaha. That makes it not fact. Only the words from the source count for fact. Everything other than comments straight from Yamaha are opinion. They simply discontinued them and even that is partial as both the r1 and r6 are track only bikes. With the r1 still being sold and slightly updated in some markets. Its literally still a motorcycle at dealer showrooms and that is clearly not discontinued. There for it cant be replaced. The reason for the comparison (R6) is they are very close in power, weight, size, purpose. Kind of like a successor. Same job different person. In this case same job different machine. This is fact. Why? what is the proof that makes this not an opinion. Class rules allow for both of these machine s to race each other on the same track at the same time. where you will not see and r6,r9 and r1 on the same track at the same competitive race class because they are not the same class. Not my philosophy thems the rules of the game bro. They innovate based on what they can race.

Displacement is not an accurate gauge for a class of bike if it has a different engine design. It’s a triple. Displacement will be different. Same as a HD sporty 1200 being classed with a 1300 Busa because they are both over 1000 cc. They sent the same. Reason for the comparison to 600 and not 1000 is power. The 600 and r9 have within 5 hp of each other. 1000 have over 50 hp in most modern bikes it’s a different class entirely.

I had a 600 with 100hp and now I got a 1000cc CBR1000RR both 4 cylinders, why do people say they never have enough torque for city riding? I swear these people can't ride a motorcycle if they complain about this. I literally can ride forever in first gear or even second gear and I still have enough power to start moving without shitting on my clutch. Who the fuck cares if the R9 has more torque, doesn't mean anything when both the R6 and the Mt09 have enough power down low to move. It doesn't have the top end and it doesn't have the same charismatic engine as the R6 or any 4 cylinder supersport for that matter. It looks terrible and tbh it doesn't sound as good as Triumph 3 cylinder engines.

It’s not about the ability to move. A 5hp 35cc moped can move. You owned both a 600 and a 1000 so you more than anyone would know that 3,4,5,6 on the 600 at traffic speeds prefer a downshift. 50mph in 6th gear in a 1000 will get you accelerating briskly to 70-80 to pass cars. It will not do the same in a 600. Yes it accelerates but it prefers a downshift. That’s what people are referring to. You can leave it in 2nd gear All day long and not have an issue 10-80+mph but who logically will be riding around the city screaming 10k rpm in 2nd gear it’s loud and unpleasant to you and everyone around you. The r9 or even Daytona 675 to go off your example can hang at low revs in the city not require a downshift and be quiet and smooth at lower rpm. As far as bike feel given I’m 10,000% sure you haven’t ridden it yet I’ll ignore the power comment as no one know what the top end looks like or the power delivery.
