Imagine a line-up of Witt, Soto, Judge. No lead-off hitter, and definitely no closer, and poor situational hitting translates into poor outcomes in the post-season.

The Yanks no only have a leadoff bat, but they miss an elite closer and a good SP. Cashman failed to sign Corbin Burnes, but Flaherty also.

Mike, it’s been this way for over 3 years. DJ LeMahieu was the most important piece on this team not named Judge/Soto. He used to cover so many holes in that infield and At the plate. The foot has crippled him and the lineup. Cash has no excuse for not addressing this with some sort of backup plan for at least the last 2 seasons.

Mike is right They lack a leadoff hitter. Also besides Soto and Judge their batting averages are terrible . The Yankees will not go far in the postseason. This team is still flawed.

I admit, I haven't been the biggest Rice fan until I got to see the game the other day. His slump appears to me to be due to swinging too hard. He needs to relax and get that easy stroke back. Nice to see it's an actual fixable issue. Tightening up and trying to hit 9-run home runs is never the answer..
