The Yaqibrush Co. Flipside head razor and Moka Express synthetic brush 👍

Yaqibrush: the Flipside head razor - 24mm Moka Express - Grooming Dept: lime and frankincense.
My apologies - in the video I incorrectly stated the razor had a flip-top head. It doesn't have a flip-top head and it is called a flipside head.
I'm shaving with some new Yaqibrush products, which is a new experience for me, having never had any Yaqibrush products in the den, until very recently. I'm starting with the lovely 24mm Moka Express brush with a mew brown synthetic knot and the Flipside head razor; the razor has a dual comb design, with a different level of aggressiveness on either side, the closed comb side is the most efficient. It's a very good shave for me.

Hi Mark, nice start for 2020. Never tried a flip-side head. It seems to be an option for guys that don‘t like adjustables but still look for different levels of aggression during a shave. I bet I would always mix the sides up during shaving 😱 Before I bought my first Yaqi product I was a bit uncertain about what I will get. It was really a positive surprise how good their products are, keeping in mind the fair price point.

Ha! Sven, that's a great point about the guys that don't like adjustable razors. I wish I'd thought of that. My first shave was a complete mixture of both sides of the razor and I, somehow, still managed a great shave. Very good quality for their price point! I'm impressed with this one. Thanks.

Hello Marc, wish you a great new year! I thought the idea of that razor pretty stupid but i ordered it and i likes it! Got three very good shaves out it now. Very efficient but not to much aggressive. I have only the head, never seen that handle. The handle looks amazing!! The handle from the Mokka express is stunning too. Good day, Jens. As you have seen, I found it to be as you described, efficient but not too aggressive. I'm glad you like yours. It did seem strange to me to have different levels of aggression on each side but I'm finding it okay. I'll bet the 26mm version of the brush does feel rather big! 😃 All the best.

That’s a fine looking razor really like the texturing on the handle. The moka Brush reminds me of the traditional coffee pot shape. I’m glad they have toned down the advertising on the razor, much more attractive.

It is exactly like the traditional coffee pot shape. I know it's called Moka Express but shouldn't that be Moccha Espresso? 😕 I used to have one just that shape. Isn't it so much better without the advertising, that was the single reason I never tried one. I don't even like the Gillette razors with the headcap etched. No! 🙂

But, following your last video I decided to follow the advice and try the blades in a different razor. Sadly, a face like the surface of the moon resulted. Not that I'm blaming you! The advice was good, the blade is poor.

Thanks Thierry. That is interesting information; I have just found a picture of the Karl Engels Emir razor, which I had not heard of, before now. Not one to get into resin handle colors, but that brush trips all my triggers! Lovely color and it looks as if wisps of smoke are caught inside. Also, that razor handle is especially appealing. Great video Mark. Thanks!

Hello Mark. Thank you for this interesting review/shave. My willpower to resist spending on shaving gear is rather weak at the moment. All due to the fact I was fortunate enough to receive some money at Christmas. I might treat myself to a new razor. I am tempted by the Muhle R41. I watched your review of that razor this morning. If you remember, in the video, you told the story of your dog falling into a deep hole. An old mine shaft, I believe. You had to risk life and limb to pull the poor dog out. Hello David. Gosh, I'd forgotten I told that story and you mentioning it bought the memories flooding back. She was such a lovely dog! I wish I was well enough to have another but, that's another story 🙂 Well, next week I'm shaving with another Yaqi razor that quite reminded me of the Mühle R41. More on that next week. The R41 is an excellent razor - I just never got to use mine because of all the other razors that come and go at the house. I'm going for a shave now - 😃

That is a a beautiful looking brush and razor Mark, as well as an outstanding performing brush and razor too. I got my first Yaqi brush for Christmas, and absolutely love it. It ticks all the boxes for me and then some. The Yaqi brush I got vastly outperforms other synthetic brushes in my den which some cost three times the price. I can see me using my Simpson Chubby 2 synthetic brush not very much now that I have discovered Yaqi brushes. I may look at selling the Simpson on at some point, and using the money to get myself another Yaqi brush. I definitely want to add perhaps another 2 or 3 Yaqi synthetic brushes to my collection at some point. I really like the 26mm Yaqi, and a few I like aren't available as yet in the 26mm size. Hopefully in time Yaqi will release them in the 26mm size. Yaqi knock value for money, performance, and beautiful looking products out of the park in my opinion.

I think you're right mate, even based on my first use of their products, value for money is outstanding and the Moka Express is beautiful and well made. I'm looking forward to trying some of their other products. It'll be very interesting to see what the future brings. I'd love a range of replica vintage brushes from Yaqi. That's quite a hard question, Sid as I don't generally keep scores and only mentioned it in passing 😃 I should have phrased it better because I personally find the Gillette Heritage better than the R106, and that better than the R89, even though they have the same head. I think the weight and size of the handle is maybe key. So, based on that - Gillette Heritage (5), R106 (4.5) R89 (4) The Gamechanger was at a 5. A really nice mid range razor. Don't quote me on that, please. Phew 😉

Nice vid, I am a bit confused, does this head have 4 sides (like a Rockwell 6c/s) that you can use it 2 sided? I have some sort of Chinese top w open/closed comb...quality was subpar...I gave it away....

No mate. It has a single head, with two sides; an open comb on one side of the guard plate and a closed comb on the other side. The closed comb side of the plate is more aggressive than the open comb side.

Anyone know what most of their razors are made out of? Which parts are made out of what material? They're cheap so I wouldn't expect top quality but are they going to last 10-20 years or fail after 5?

I mentioned in the video that this razor has a brass handle and a zinc alloy head. I assume the information on the other razors will be on their website and I'll track that down for each razor. If it is looked after I can't see why it wouldn't last a long time, especially if the plating is good.

The plating did look good and I'm one to care for my razors but when plating on the threading wares away it doesn't matter how much you care for them.

With ttheir still cheap coststructure, they can create things of all kinds, the western economies can only dream of and might fear...
